I SHOULD BE A STICK

I learned tonight while googling calories burned for certain exercises that I should be a stick...or maybe a twig. Two hours of playing doubles in tennis burns 703 calories. A 30 minute (10-12 mph) bike ride burns 211 calories. Wow! At the very least, I burn almost 1,000 calories twice a week, usually more. And that doesn't even count the walking and other things I do!

So tell me...isn't menopause a kick in the you-know-what?

Thinking of sticks and twigs tonight made me think of Twiggy. Remember her?

Her real name was Lesley Hornby. When I was a teenager I thought she was the BEST! At 16 she was the world's first super model. Remember those large eyes with long lashes and how very thin she was? I loved her pixie hair cut and her mod look.

I found this fun video tonight. I love how it shows Twiggy's personality that I remember.

I wonder if she's fighting menopausal extra pounds too?

Hugs from the beach,
Kat

Twiggy was a cutie! Love those eyes!

So... menopause... not quite there yet but on the fast track towards it I'm sure. This explains why my weight keeps going up and up and up. I used to be all skin and bones like Twiggy so if I'm struggling with weight now, I'm sure she is too (except she probably has a team of personal trainers helping her get through it).

Kat, from the pictures I've seen of you, you look terrific. The problem with real skinny people is that they look emaciated and unhealthy. A few extra pounds (not like 50) are actually good for you. I'm always at the gym trying to keep those menopause pounds off the middle, you know that flab women get around the waist! I've done a pretty good job but I still have a little but certainly not as much as some women. So I'm working out and I'm healthy so what if I have five extra pounds!

That was a fun video! I wonder what she's doing now. I bet she is still skinny. :)

Those menopause pounds can be so frustrating. Why is it that it takes forever to take some off, but at the blink of an eye they are back....
I do indeed remember Twiggy and even though I was very thin at the time, it just wasn't thin enough...I wish I would have been able to enjoy where I was at!
I also think that after a certain age, too thin does not look healthy. So I'm focusing on weight loss for sure, but I am being reasonable about it though.
It is amazing that with that much exercise you still struggle with weight. I have back issues, so restricted on how much and what type of exercises I do. My goal this year is to get my back stronger. Oh, and of course dropping some extra pounds!

Yes you should be a stick! I agree with Sharon that you look great but I do know that I feel the same way. Need to get rid of about 15-20 lbs and I can lose it but it comes back so quick. I working on losing 7 lbs I lost last year twice!!

And I do think that menopause definitely has something to do with it!!

Too funny!
I'm not insterested in being a stick. I like curves, lol, I just wish I could eat all the chocolate I want without my pear shaped body turning into an apple! Boo! :o)

Happy New Year, Kat! I know, menopause is just not fair. That Twiggy looked so thin, she must have had an eating disorder back then. So waif-like. Not healthy looking at all.

Hope you & George are doing well! Have a good weekend, friend. xoxo

This is a shocking time of life. Work more, weigh more. I must admit I eat too much though. I'm looking Twiggy up to see what she looks like now. Of course she probably has a very good plastic surgeon! :) Wish I had one!
