AN HOUR A DAY IS PERFECT

"An hour of basketball feels like 15 minutes. An hour on a treadmill feels like a weekend in traffic school."
~David Walters
Funny quote and cartoon, but a little true too. I can run around on the tennis court for 2+ hours and not even think about it, but 1 hour on the treadmill is plenty, thank you very much!

Actually, I love my treadmill. I'm so glad I have one at home. I truly look forward to my workout every day. It's MY time. Without the convenience of having it here, I'm not sure I would have enough discipline to go to the gym every day. Honestly, I KNOW I wouldn't.

Another big help is using my iPad while I'm on the treadmill. LOVE it! I can check emails and facebook, but I especially love reading my book while I walk. Time really does go by nicely and I feel like I get some things accomplished during that time too. A real win/win!

How's YOUR fitness program going? I'm happy (and a bit surprised) to say that I'm sticking with mine. I'm trying to stay away from the damn scale, but my body feels better and my pants are fitting better...so I feel better :-)

Just wanted to say thanks again for all of your sweet comments, emails and cards. It's been a rough week, but YOU really helped.

What a nice surprise I got this morning. Candace at Mi Chiamo Candace awarded me not one, not two, but three awards. Wow! I am truly touched. Thank you so much!

Hugs from the beach,

I feel the same way. My exercise program went down the drain. I was walking a little bit everyday and then I got sick. I had that stuff that has been going around. I need to do something. I would love a treadmill. Any suggestions?
Congratulations on your awards. Isn't she wonderful?

Good point. I may have to tell Bob to get me an iPad so I will enjoy the treadmill.

LOL, maybe I need an iPad to do the treadmill!!

I think my body would go into shock if I tried the treadmill. I've been taking naps most afternoons for the first time in my life!

You're an inspiration, Kat; I admire you, but you already know that. :)

My treadmill has died, and my routine with it. :(
I love that you read while you are walking. That would be a huge bonus.
Congrats on the awards!

I have a routine that I started, but I get bored so quickly that I start dreading working out. I really do enjoy it, but I know I would enjoy it more if I was able to read while I walk!!!

Kat, I totally agree with you! I could not live without my treadmill!! My alarm goes off at 3:50 every morning (Monday-Friday) and I am on my TM by 4:00. Gotta get my workout in before going to work. The evenings get too crazy and I don't seem to find the time then. My favorite thing to do is watch netflick. I am not a tv person so this is really the only time I watch tv. I will have to look into the ipad!
On Tuesday and Thursday I walk 15 minutes and do 45 minutes of strength training and do yoga at least 2 nights a week. LOOOVE yoga to relax after a rough day!
Hope it is a relaxing week for you and there is plenty of sunshine your way!
Now if I could just get my eating under control! Any suggestion???

Fantastic Kat! How nice you can read while walking. That is great.

Happy week sweet friend.
Warmly, ~Melissa :)

I had to laugh at the cartoon:-) I have been on a major exercise kick and my pants feel a bit bigger but the scale is not moving that much but that is OK. I think I will kick it up a notch this week and see if I can lower the number on my scale too! Keep up the good work Kat.

I run on the treadmill....so I don't think I could use an Ipad!! I am thinking of ordering Insanity!! It's a super tough workout...but burns some serious calories in a short amount of time!!! I need to get in gear! I haven't been doing to good with my eating!! Too much good food to pass up!!

I love my treadmill too, but I also love going to the classes I started a few weeks ago. My favorite of them all is zumba. I was very leary about going, but now you can't keep me away.

I have a small fortune invested in workout DVDs. Unfortunately they don't do me any good sitting on the shelf. Apparently you have to actually put them in the player and do the workouts. There's always a catch isn't there.
Glad to hear you are sticking with your fitness regime.
And I agree with Candance--you ARE irresistibly sweet, quite stylish and always reminding us that Life Is Good. Thank you.

Hi!
Week one with myfitnesspal.com has gone well. It has really helped me stay on track even with three girlfriend lunches. :) Thanks so much for sharing about it on your blog.

As soon as #4 son moves out, a treadmill is going in his room!

I know this has been a rough time for you and family and friends. I pray you'll all be comforted.

Today we took the kids to play soccer near our house. It was so much fun & calories burned, but I didn't eat to good! ugh!
Glad you are sticking to your routine. :)

uh oh... Now I feel convicted. :-) I slept in a little too late this morning and missed my workout. I got a "Walk at Home" DVD which I love doing. I also joined the gym. My husband's company gave everyone a family membership this year as part of their new benefits package. But like you... I don't think I'll go very much on my own.

If you are doing an HOUR on the treadmill, you are doing GREAT! I DO go to the gym every day but I have an accountability partner who meets me there every day so I HAVE to show up! Keep it up girl!

Thinking I need an ipad to make the treadmill a little more interesting. Great idea! Nothing more depressing than tight pants.
