CELEBRATING EVEN WHEN IT'S HARD

"Friends are kisses blown to us by angels."
~Author Unknown

Today was my friend Jeanette's birthday and we celebrated it at Cantina Laredo. It's one of her favorite places.
Brrrr...it was a cold day. Very un-Florida like! We never even took our jackets off!

We had a skinny margarita, their famous guacamole they make table-side, chicken tortilla soup and it all ended with the birthday brownie. And yes the celebration meant I exceeded my caloric allowance for today so I had to walk an extra hour on the treadmill tonight to make up for it. Worth.every.second!

It was fun to celebrate, but we both couldn't quite forget that our friend Carl is really having a hard time now. You might remember him. He's our friend who has lymphoma and it has now moved to his lungs. He just got home from the hospital and is on oxygen. It's so very sad. He needs a stem cell transplant but just isn't healthy enough right now.
This photo was taken in October. Nope, that's not our Miss Daisy with him. It's his fur baby Dosey. Dosey is Miss Daisy's favorite friend. Carl and his wife Jackie rescued Dosey from a shelter. We think she's part Wheaten.
That's Miss Daisy on the left and Dosey on the right. Best buddies.

Carl is our buddy. He's a wonderful person. A good golfer. A good husband. A good Daddy to Dosey. A good friend.

Please pray for him and Jackie.

Life isn't fair sometimes. What a comfort though to know we are never ever alone. No matter what...God walks right along side of us. In the happy times...and the hard times.

Hugs,
Kat

Glad you had a good day today, although sadness was overshadowing it. I'll be praying for Carl.

You are such a good (GREAT) friend to all your friends. Everyone should have a "KAT" in their lives.
I'll pray for Carl and his family. I love his DOSEY. She is a cutie like Daisy.

Kat, in your honor, I am wearing one of my Florida sweatshirts today. I thought it might help Memphis area warm up from our FREEZING temps. Snow is melting today. :)

Kat, YOU are a blessing to someone every day!

I do hate to read about Carl. Dick has a regularly scheduled PET scan a week from today. Please pray for good results.

I once saw a friend with this quote on her page....."Life isn't fair, but God is sovereign".....It's so hard, but we just have to rest in Him.

I'm stopping to say a prayer for your friend.

oh, and cantina laredo is one of my favorite places too!!!

Glad you had a wonderful day with your sweet friend celebrating her birthday, but sad that your dear friend, Carl is not doing well. I have a neighbor/friend who had a successful stem cell transplant and have another friend whose husband is waiting on one now. Life isn't fair, but God holds the Master plan and He has all the answers. We must put our faith in Him, even though we don't always like the outcome. Praying for a miracle for your dear friend Carl! Love & blessings from NC!

I love Cafe Laredo also! The guac is the best and we could eat their chips and salsa with it all night...I can't wait to get back to the beach!!

So nice to have a birthday lunch or dinne with a friend. Almost always wonderful memories.

Prayers for your good friend with lymphoma. Yes we are never alone but sometimes that is very hard to remember.

I am struggling with a decision on a heart procedure-struggling is re-translated scared to death and keep telling myself it is all in God's hands, not mine

So, so true! I wonder if we all would learn the life lessons we need to if we didn't face those hard tough times. Even if the only lesson we learn if that He is always there!

Goodness, I was so surprised to see you with a coat on today. Hey, I was outside yesterday snapping pictures in my jammies. I didn't even have a coat on. For some reason, it didn't seem cold. Maybe I was just excited about the snow. It was absolutely gorgeous!
Stay warm, sweet friend!
