I NOW HAVE MORE GRAY HAIR :-)

This is how I spent my time in isolation...draped in a gown with my iPad watching over my girl

I've been home almost a week now and it's still hard to write about the three weeks of HE double L that I lived through recently.

George and I had plans to go spend a long weekend to keep our youngest grandson so our daughter and her husband could make a long weekend trip to New Orleans to celebrate her birthday.  She called 4 days before we were supposed to come to let me know that our grandson had a "bug" and she was staying home from work.  As usual, I offered to come early.  She said she thought it would be okay.  The next day our son-in-love stayed home with him.  On the third day, she texted me to ask if I could come early.  I literally threw some things in a suitcase and left right away.  George couldn't leave on short notice, but said he would join me in a day or so.  By the day they were supposed to leave for their trip, our daughter was sick.  We thought she had a touch of what the baby had.  Wrong.  She ended up in the emergency room and she was quickly admitted to the hospital.  To make a VERY long story short, they could not figure out what was wrong.  They knew immediately she had "impressively serious" colitis, but didn't know the cause.  She was loosing lots of blood and tissue....for days.  They took so many cultures and we had to wait for results.  They put her on antibiotics, pain meds and nausea IVs.  At first they were worried about C-Dif or E-Coli.  Later they thought it might be either Crohn's disease or a chronic types of colitis.  She could not eat...at all.  By the end of the week, they did a colonoscopy and a esophagogastroduodenoscopy and took biopsies.  All tests came back negative.  Thank you Lord!  She eventually improved and was dismissed from the hospital.  We are still not sure what caused it.  They explained that they can not test for every nasty bacteria and virus and sometimes test come back negative, but could be a "false negative".  She is doing well and has now returned to work and I have returned home.  A true mystery.  So scary.

Lots of family and friends were praying and our prayers were answered.

Thank you God!

PRAYING

I believe in prayers.
I'm so thankful that no matter the time or place, we can always turn to our Father.

Tonight there are so many I am praying for, including one of the sweetest blog/facebook friends, Teresa @ Grammy Girlfriend.  Her husband may have had a stroke today.  Please pray for Jack and all those who love him.

DOING NOTHNG

What I did today:

NOTHING
nada

Last night  I was excited NOT to set my alarm since I didn't have a reason I HAD to get up at a particular time.  Guess what?  I woke at 4:30...as in AM...due to a tummy ache.  It turned out to be a rainy morning and since I didn't feel the greatest, I decided to spent the day in my gown and just do nothing.  After a busy week, I needed a day of doing absolutely nothing.

Unless you count, changing sheets on the bed, finishing a book, taking a nap and doing my nails :-)

It was nice.
Very nice.

I hope your Saturday was a nice easy day too.

Here's a few photos I took off our balcony this week:

I AM WOMAN

Where does the time go?  My days seems to be packed to the brim with constant running here and there.  Most of it is fun so I shouldn't complain, especially since I'm the one doing the planning ;-)

But this girl is tired.....yawning...nite nite!

A NICE SATURDAY

We were blessed to get to spend some time with our friend Vladimir and his family this afternoon.  He's doing better than we expected and his spirit is amazing.  Keep up the prayers please.

Tonight we enjoyed a wonderful meal at our friend Mimmo's new restaurant.

I hope your Saturday was filled with time with good friends and good food too.

CLARIFICATION

 clarify: to make clear
As you can tell pretty quickly when you visit me, I love where I live and I often show you pretty photos of our beautiful beach.  I think we all want to show "our best side" whether it be our home, our yard, our city, our family, etc.  That's just human.  And that's okay.  I personally love seeing pretty things.

So, most of the time you will see photos of our beach on those gorgeous days when it shines....

We're known for our turquoise water and very soft white sand.

I often wonder what people think when they come here for the first time and everything is just perfect.  They probably think it's like this every day.

And then I wonder what people think when they come and it's not at all what they've heard it will be.

Timing is everything, right?

Cause sometimes, and lately there has been lots of sometimes, we have bad weather and rain and it churns things up and our water isn't too pretty.  And the seaweed shows up too.

These last three photos are how it's looking these last few days.  And the seaweed is here.  Some people call it "June grass", but it usually shows up in July :-(  I hate it because that's when a lot of people want to come.  July is my least favorite month, by the way.  April, September and October are my favorites.

But you know what?  I LOVE our "backyard". In the good times and the bad.

I love that it's ever changing.

WHAT I'VE BEEN UP TO....

Third day in a row of blogging...woo hoo!
What have I been doing recently instead of blogging, you ask.

Well...

We love living back on the beach, so we spend a lot of time either on our balcony or sitting on the beach or taking long walks.  I LOVE our view and never tire of it.  And I take photos almost every day :-)  Can't help myself.

I love going out first thing in the morning with my cup of coffee to  watch the sunrise.  I took this one this morning.

Sitting on the balcony early in the morning or close to sunset is my favorite place to read.
And to pray.

I got a new car.
I tried an SUV for a year or two, but missed my convertible so George got me this sweet thing.

I've made lots of trips to see this sweet boy.  Can you believe how big he's getting?!  He will be two in October.
We were thrilled that Bree and Jay and Daven got to come for a visit in May.

We're in the process now of trying to get ALL the kids and grandchildren here at one time before summer is over. Co-coordinating schedule with 4 kids and their spouses and 10 grandchildren isn't easy!

I didn't always take photos, but I've had some fun times with friends.
My sister Kim came for a visit and we had fun being silly together.

I've played lots and lots of tennis.  I'm still playing with my normal Monday/Wednesday/Friday group, but now I've joined a team again and we're practicing on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  It's a lot of tennis, but I love it.  Great exercise and fun!

There's been too many happy times to share them all.

BUT...there has been one very sad thing.
Our sweet Russian artist friend Vladimir was diagnosed with inoperable cancer.  My friend Jeanette and I along with another friend of Vladimir has been busy for the last six weeks helping him.  Hospice has been wonderful.  Vladimir has an incredible attitude.  Please keep him in your prayers.

It's good to be blogging again.  I'm having to reschedule my days to include time to blog and visit, but like anything you love, you find a way.

YES!

I wasn't sure if anyone was still out there, so I was thrilled to hear from some of you today!  Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving your sweet comments.

You've made this girl happy :-)

It's good to be back!
