I'LL NEED A BIB TONIGHT

I guess that post title caught your interest! LOL

Or it could be me sucking the drawn butter off my fingertips! LOL

We're celebrating New Year's Eve a little differently this year. We're going to a dinner party tonight for a lobster boil. I think there will be 12-14 of us and the hosts have asked us to dress New Year's Eve festive. I might have to say goodbye to the silk blouse I'm planning to wear once we get home. I just know I'll get butter or lemon juice or something on it! Oh well, it will be worth it. I'm already drooling (another reason for a bib!) just thinking of having lobster. It's been awhile and I do so love it. The lobsters were flown in today. So excited! Me...not the lobster. Hehehe!

Happy New Year everyone!
I hope your night is special. Be safe.

See you next year!

LET THE RESOLUTIONS BEGIN

NOT!

We are down to the last few days of 2010. Can you believe it?! Time really does fly. I can easily remember this time last year and it sure doesn't seem like it's been a year. I guess planning and having a wedding can do that!

Do you remember all those New Year’s resolutions you made a year ago? I do. Did I accomplish them? NO! (hanging my head in shame) And just like you (I think), my resolution this year will be pretty much the same as it was last year. And the year before. And the year before that. Actually all the way back to 2004.

The resolution to get back in shape.

Stop laughing. That's not nice ;-)

Actually in 2004 I accomplished my resolution and got in shape. Probably the best shape of my life. It wasn't easy. I did the "low carb thing", walked every day and exercised. And played tennis. I never felt better either. I had tons of energy. I slept better. And I loved shopping for clothes. I started the first of January and this photo was taken in June.

I ran across this photo yesterday and KNEW it was a sign. I CAN do it. I did it once and I can do it again. Soooo...I've put the photo on my iPhone, my iPad and now on my blog to remind me daily of my goal.

Keep me honest, okay?

What's your resolution this year?

Happy New Year everyone!

A WILD AND CRAZY LIMO RIDE

Warning: Lots of photos ahead!

Our new son-in-love Jay's family has a fun (and hilarious) Christmas tradition and George and I got to participate when we were in Jackson last week. They hire a limo to ride around sometime the week before Christmas to look at Christmas lights, have a few (?) drinks and snacks and then Bill reads THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS on the way back home. But....he reads it in a most unusual way. I can't even describe how he does it...it's not "Pig Latin", but similar and oh so funny! I wish I had made a video! We had a great time!

This wasn't our limo (I forgot to take a photo before the 8 of us along with all the food and drinks climbed inside), but as you'll see from the photos I did take, it looked very similar.
Jay's Mom, MTee gave Bree and I ornaments to remember the night. We all signed them. Such a sweet idea and the ornament is so pretty! Thanks sweet Tee!
See how cute the ornaments were packaged? We kept them wedged on the bar shelf to keep them off the floor.

(It was really dark in the limo, but my camera flash makes everything look light!)

The girls were in the back (in pajamas!) and the guys were up front.
On the way home, Bill began to read. Jay used my iPhone flashlight app to help Bill see easier.

George is in the back cracking up!

I took lots of photos of houses with beautiful lights and nary a one was good. Pooh! But this house had the Ole Miss Rebel and we asked the driver to stop so we could all climb out and get a photo...and he did!

It was a fun memory making night! Thanks Bill and MTee!

Here's a few more photos that I took last week:

I had to show you this. Bree is a neo-natal intensive care nurse. One day when we were out doing some shopping, I noticed her hospital badge in her car. Those tiny footprints are actual footprints of babies she has cared for. Look how tiny they are compared to the safety pins and her ponytail holders! These tiny miracle babies are so lucky to have nurses who love them.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Of course I took along some of my Christmas aprons and silly hats!
One afternoon Bree made some Jo Mama's World Famous Spaghetti sauce. It's a family favorite and it was delish! (Click here for the recipe.)
Yep, Bree wanted her own kitchen tree like mine, so I brought one to her along with a string of peppermint lights and a few ornaments. My Mom and Sherry mailed her quite a few too. She will be adding to it just like I did. The photos really don't show how cute it was.
Of course we made cookies! Since Bree couldn't be with us a few weeks ago when Mom and Sherry and I made our Spritz cookies, I bought a cookie press to take to Bree's and we made cookies all afternoon!
We brought along Miss Daisy's Christmas attire too. She doesn't mind wearing them either. Too funny!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I've spent today taking down the decorations and packing them up. Kinda sad. The house always looks "naked" after I do.

We're car shopping tomorrow. For me! I'm excited.

Okay, enough about me. What have you been up to? I've been so busy that I haven't had much time to visit, but things are calming down now and I'll be stopping by soon.

We have fun plans for New Year's Eve. How about you?

HAPPY DAY AFTER CHRISTMAS!

I don't know about you, but I'm feeling lots of emotions today. As I sat in church, my heart was filled to the brim with...

Love
Thankfulness
Happiness
Joy
Peace
Awe
Pride
Anticipation
Hope
Satisfaction
Sadness
Empathy
Fear
Trust

There's just something about the holidays, especially Christmas, that makes me emotional and so aware of just how very precious LIFE is.

Thank YOU for being a part of my life.

Happy Holidays!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Isaiah 9:6 “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This Christmas
Mend a quarrel.
Seek out a forgotten friend.
Write a love letter.
Share some treasure.
Give a soft answer.
Encourage youth.
Keep a promise.
Forgive an enemy.
Listen.
Apologize if you were wrong.
Think first of someone else.
Be kind and gentle.
Laugh a little.
Laugh a little more.
Express your gratitude.
Gladden the heart of a child.
Take pleasure in the beauty and wonder of the earth.
Speak your love. Speak it again. Speak it still once again.
Find the time.
COLOR ME HAPPY
We're at Bree and Jay's house. Jay made an incredible pot of turkey and pasta soup for dinner....perfect for a chilly winter night.
We loved being with Eric, George and Kim and their families last week. Actually we got to see most of my family at my Mom's party. I'm feeling so blessed to be able to spend some time this season with all of our family. Thank you God for FAMILY.
I hope you're feeling happy and blessed too. MERRY CHRISTMAS!
PACKING AGAIN
I don't know how we got everything into our "sleigh" on Wednesday night. It was packed to the proverbial gill, but we did it.
I think Santa might have used some of his special "technique". LOL
Loading the car in the morning should be a lot easier.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

We arrived home last night from our first Christmas road trip to have Christmas with the three oldest kids and our grandchildren, but we leave again in the morning to go see our youngest, Bree, and her new hubby Jay.

We had a wonderful time at Eric and Angela's on Thursday and Friday. My Mom's party on Saturday was really fun and chaotic and it was great getting to see everyone. After the party we to Kim and Mike's house to open gifts with them and George and Jan and the kids came over too.

We drove home in the dark so we would have today to attend church, do laundry, rest a bit (HA) and repack.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have so many photos that I've taken these last few weeks, but no time to download, edit and go through. I haven't even posted photos from our New York trip. Bad me! Maybe in January when things calm down???
Here's just a few from Friday night when we were at our Eric and Angela's in Atlanta.
It felt like Christmas with the kids in their pajamas and, of course, MeMe brought along some silly hats.
The kids wanted us to open our gifts first. As I mentioned in my last post, I was surprised...to say the least...to open my gift - an iPad. 30 seconds after this photo where I'm saying "NO WAY!", when it had sunk in just a bit, I cried. My grandson asked "MeMe are you really crying or just pretending?" The tears were real!
I LOVE my iPad!
(If you have suggestions of applications you enjoy for the iPad be sure and email me.)
Next it was their turn. Here they are with their first gift.
And here's one photo of Mom with her 5 children.
More photos later. I'm off to pack. Can't wait to spend a few days with Bree and Jay.
Hoping to get some time to visit YOU later...if I can stop playing with my new "toy". LOL
MY BIG SURPRISE
Guess who got an iPad for Christmas?
Me!!!
I cried when I opened it. I'm not kidding. I've wanted one for so long.
Thank you Eric, Angela, Landon, Kaley Grace and Sydney Anne!
I'm in heaven.
