WINED, DINED, PLAYED AND READY TO CRASH

The napkins Sherry brought for the weekend was "right on the money"!

We started Mama's weekend long birthday celebration on Friday night with games and a little CHOCOVINE wine. Chocolate wine? Yes ma'am. It's dutch chocolate and red wine. Good, but very sweet. A sipping wine, for sure. We jokingly called it our "adult yoohoo". LOL I learned about it from DeeDee at Fiddledeedee.

Mom knew that her baby sister Sherry and I were coming for the weekend to celebrate her birthday, but she had no idea there was a surprise birthday lunch planned for her on Saturday afternoon. She just thought we were taking her out to lunch at Ezell's Catfish Cabin, her favorite place to eat catfish. Boy was she surprised when she walked into a room filled with 26 family members! I tried to get photos of the whole group, but failed. Not one good photo of the whole group! Believe me, someone in every photo would have been mad at me if I posted the group photos. @$%&!

We definitely surprised Mom. She doesn't look 79, does she?
Mom with all of her children

On the left - Pete and Teresa. They joined our family 30+ years ago when their sweet father Ken married Mom . We don't use that ugly term "step" in our family. They ARE our brother and sister.

On the right - Kim (the baby), Karen (the middle) and me (the oldest first born)

Sherry, Mom and Bet aka "Other Mother"

After lunch, lots of us went over to Kim's house to...surprise, surprise...play more games, eat more food and drink more wine.

Kim never sits and plays with us. She said she'd rather watch so she could be ready to fill our glasses and check on the food. I teased her and told her we needed a bell so she would know when we needed a refill. And quick as a wink, I got a bell.
I only rang it a few times (???) and suddenly this appeared!
No one actually got up and did the chicken dance (thank you Lord), but we did play chicken foot dominoes.

We took Mom to breakfast this morning and then I hopped in the car and drove home....in the rain.

I talked to my sister Kim a few minutes ago and they are still celebrating. She and Terry cooked a steak dinner for Mom tonight.

Mom sounded so happy, but said partying all weekend is hard work. I'm sure she's gonna crash as soon as she gets home.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!

You are loved!

You guys always have so much fun! I'm glad you surprised your Mom. My Dad turned 79 a few months ago. You and I are blessed that both of our parents are in such good health at that age.

Kathy, I had a great time celebrating mom's birthday. I'm sorry I wasn't able to go with you all for breakfast this morning because of my back but was able to spend a little time with her at Kim's today. I'm glad you made it home safe.

PS The pictures are great but they can't show all the fun and laughter we had.

What a fun weekend! Happy Birthday to your mama!

My MIL has talked about getting the chocolate wine but it sounds awful to me....maybe I'll try it.

I hate the step word too....my two youngest sons aren't my bio sons, but they are still mine. I did actually raise them with their daddy since they were quite young.

Glad you got home....all this rain is so...well, wet!

Looks like ya'll had a great time and what a good looking family. My daughter's FIL's cousin (I think) used to own Ezell's in Wetumpka which is just outside of Montgomery. I think the same cousin owns another Ezells somewhere else down south...wonder if it's the same guy? Great catfish, hush puppies and cole slaw!

My little grandson will be born on Wednesday so I'm gearing up for a big week.

Stay cool!

Don't you just love those Progressive Celebrations, where you just keep on keepin' on?

It's evident that you all love each other and enjoy each other's company---that's worth more than you can imagine.

Thanks for sharing the lively event, and HAPPY DAY to the Party Girl!

So happy to see the fun birthday celebration. Your Mom and all you girls look very young. Plus, your haircut is wonderful! I, too, enjoy reading about your get-togethers. I can't get my brother and sister to get together for anything. Brother in TN and sister in my same state. :(

You gals sure know how to party! Your Mom looks great ... and so does everyone in your family. I don't know how to play the games you play, but I love to play UNO and 'killer rummy.' The Sisters tried to teach me to play Clue, but I still haven't a 'clue' as to how they do it. :) Glad you had a great time and good to hear you made it home safely in the rain. xxoo

Glad you had a good visit in C-town....we have plastic cups from Ezell's that have their logo and "Eat catfish and be somebody"....

The beach was beautiful as usual and only a small amount of rain (until we left on Sunday...then the monsoon came)

The red velvet donut is fairly new...I have been a sourcream donut fan for years, but have now converted....I go there so much that they recognize me...

I will miss my beach home these next few months, I am glad I can live vicariously through you!!
