WE'RE READY FOR SUPER BOWL 2009
Ta Dah!!! I'm finished and all ready for the Super Bowl!

Funny story about the beer bottles - I don't drink beer AT ALL (yuck...even the smell makes me feel sick) and George doesn't drink them often, so I asked the bartender for some empty bottles when we were at our favorite barbecue place the other day. You should have seen his face when I placed my "order" for 15 EMPTY beer bottles. LOL

I had to use my son's game on the table somewhere, right? We didn't have a Cardinals game on hand, but we did have one for the Steelers. If you'd like a game with your team....go here to order. BTW...sometime tomorrow CNN is doing a segment on Zelosport. How exciting is that?!! We're not sure of the exact time, so we're going to DVR CNN when we're not watching.
Thanks to one of my commenters (thanks Harriet), I used some artificial grass indoor/outdoor carpet as my tablecloth...only $20 and I can roll it up and use it next year. It's lightwear and drapes nicely. And...it's so darn cute!

I love the streamers of footballs and stars "raining" down from the rafters, but it's hard to get a good photo of it. They look so much better than the photos show.

WELCOME....COME ON IN!
ARE YOU READY FOR
SOME FOOTBALL? We are!
I finished my wreath for the front door. I put it together last night, working on the floor. The brick floor. My knees say "ouch" today, but I'm happy with how it turned out.
It hanging on the doors now and we're ready for Sunday.

FRIDAY
"The love of God is like the ocean, you can see its beginnings but not its end."
~Author Unknown
When I stand on "my" beach and look out across the water, I feel His presence.
And even though I am as small as a grain of the sand I stand on in comparison to the whole wide world, I know...
He sees me
He cares for me
He LOVES me! (and you)
Jesus loves me, this I know, for the bible tells me so.

~~~~~~
I've been a bad blogger friend this week. I've been busy busy busy getting ready for our party. I hope to get in some visits today.
Debbie at Simply Cherished has honored me with this special award. It is a triple award and it is called the Sisterhood Award. Thank you so much Debbie for thinking of me.
HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE!
HANGING FROM THE RAFTERS
It's a good thing I didn't have a 25 cent martini for lunch today since I've been hanging from the rafters all afternoon. Actually, I've been standing on a scary tall ladder decorating the rafters all afternoon. Here's a sneak peak at the beginnings of my Super Bowl decorating.
Photo is clickable - strings of footballs and stars are "raining down" (George thought I was nuts when he saw me laying on the floor to take this photo. LOL When will our guys learn that our blog friends want pictures??!! LOL)
I've decided on my centerpiece and I'm exicted. It's gonna look so cool. And I'm pretty sure what kind of wreath I'll make for the front door. More to come.....
Hugs and kisses,
Kat
A 25 CENT BUZZ
~~~~~~
After lunch, I spent hours shopping for our Super Bowl party...supplies for the decorations and the food and drinks. Things are coming together nicely. Now, I just need to get busy. Maybe tomorrow after tennis...I'm pretty pooped tonight. A nice hot bubble bath is calling my name.

IF FLIP FLOPS COULD SMILE....
What a gorgeous day! If flip flops could smile, mine sure was smiling today! It was a day for:
flip flops
convertible tops down

walking
riding bikes
golfing
tennis
time on the beach
you name it....gorgeous!
~~~~~~
Speaking of flip flops....I found this hysterical cartoon. I'm surprised my feet don't look like his!!!!!!!!!
~~~~~~
George and I just couldn't stay inside today. We took Miss Daisy for a long walk and ended up at the village for lunch. We sat outside. Oh, how good it felt.
~~~~~~
After we got home, we decided to bike over to the beach.
I hate my voice, so please just turn your volume down and enjoy the view. (I was talking as quietly as I could so no one would wonder what the crazy lady with the camera was doing. LOL)
MONDAY MORNING AND GOOD THINGS ARE HAPPENING ALREADY
It's just Monday morning and good things are happening already!!!!!!
I'm a WINNER! Yippee! I won this absolutely stunning tea cup and saucer in a giveaway by Jan at Rose Haven! I am thrilled. Believe me, this will be the cup and saucer I use for my coffee and tea as I sit at my computer. I'm so excited.
Tardevil at Confessions of a 40-Something Mama Queen passed on this sweet award to me proclaiming to all that I am a great mother, and I am so touched that she did!! What an honor! I love being a Mom and a MeMe to our four children and our nine grandchildren. Every single day when I walk down our hallway and see the photos of my family, I count my many many many blessings. You can go here to see the post I did of our wall of family photos. I LOVE them.
I simply cannot pass this on to just a few. As I travel around visiting all my blog buddies, I am constantly amazed at how many wonderful loving moms and wives there are out there. You all inspire me. So, if you're a mom and you follow my follow and/or I visit you, I'd love to pass this award on to YOU. Please take it as my gift to you. Being a mom is a great accomplishment and something to be proud of!
~~~~~~
Thanks to all of you who left sweet comments about my post yesterday on my "not happy with anything day" and how strangers can make the difference. Tales From My Empty Nest said she has this saying above her computer as a reminder to let the light of Jesus shine to others around her and I just had to share it because these few words speak volumes. Don't you agree?
"Our lives are the only Bible some people will ever read".

This award was originally passed on by "Wibeche" from ourdreams-wr and she is located in Norway. It's so cool to know that we're passing around an international award! I can't read Norwegian, but I've been told that it means:
"This is an award for being a wonderful Mom.
You do fantastic work.
Be proud of your accomplishments!"

GOD MOMENTS & HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEANETTE!
Have you ever had a day when you're just not happy with anything? Sure you have. We all do. Today was my day. I didn't sleep well last night at all, so I didn't get out of bed on time to make it to church. I hate it when that happens. My week, heck my life, goes much smoother when I attend church. Know what I mean? I love my church and it truly "feeds" and comforts my soul. George ended up playing golf and I decided to do a little shopping to try to find some things I could use for the Super Bowl party next Sunday. No luck! Can you believe no one...NO ONE!...had any Super Bowl items out yet. Even Walmart and Michaels. Unbelievable! I guess I'll make a trip to a nearby town to Party City in a day or two. I did pick up supplies for the bar area and for our dinner tonight. Ooops, I got off track...back to how I felt unhappy about everything. I must have changed clothes 4 times this morning...I didn't like anything I put on. My hair wouldn't co-operate. I felt fat (I can't seem to stick with my diet). I whined to myself as I was driving about how dirty my car was. I wore the wrong shoes and my feet were killing me. Etc., etc....you get the picture. Not a good day. I'm in a bad mood and feeling sorry for myself. My first stop was Walmart and in the parking lot two things happened that made me realize that I needed to have an attitude adjustment. First, a lady and her sons were loading their car next to where I had parked. She told me I looked pretty and she loved my car. Here I was feeling ugly, fat and driving a dirty car. LOL After the morning I had, it sure was nice to hear those compliments. It's amazing how just a few kind words can turn your thinking around. And then...another lady got in her car on the other side of mine and started backing out. She stopped and rolled down her window and asked me where I got my breast cancer awareness license plate. I told her how to get one and she said "Thanks so much. I'm a survivor". I said "I'm a survivor too". We smiled at each other, gave each other a "thumbs up" and went on our way. Me...happy for the reminder of how truly blessed I am. I AM A SURVIVOR! So within just a matter of minutes two complete strangers changed my day. I call those "God moments". Thank you Lord for gentle reminders of just how blessed I am.

Tonight we celebrated Jeanette's birthday with a dinner at our house.
BTW...thank so much to all of you who left comments on my post yesterday with great ideas for decorating for our Super Bowl party. Keep the ideas coming....

I NEED HELP DECORATING FOR MY SUPER BOWL PARTY

I could use some help!
We're having a Super Bowl party again this year. Last year we had food e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e! You can go here to see pics from last year. Anyway, this year I've decided to break down and use the dining room so all the food can be in one place. Our dining room is very formal and we don't use it very often. Seriously, we only use it for holidays and special occassions. (We're actually using it tomorrow night though for my friend Jeanette's birthday party.) And I think it's just too formal for the Super Bowl party, but necessary this year I think. There will be just too many people here and we need more counter space at the bar and in the kitchen for people to sit their plates and drinks and elbows when they lean in.
~~~~~~
Here's my problem, how should I decorate it?
~~~~~~
I don't like tablecloths...never have...but I've decided I must protect my table with this crowd. I spent a lot of time today shopping for one as well as the table protector liner. My table is really long...it seats 12-14 people, so I had a devil of a time finding one I liked that would fit my table. Of course, the one I liked the best was the most expensive of the bunch...by $25.00. sigh!
~~~~~~
So here's your assignment if you choose to help....what kind of centerpiece should I do. I want it to be Super Bowl-ish, but still do justice to the room. Plus, I'd love to do something on my front door and some things on the wet bar area.
Any ideas?
~~~~~~
Below are photos I took tonight of my dining room.
