Thanks to the handy dandy Feedjit Life Traffic Feed on the side of my blog, I get to see that people from all over the USA and even abroad stop by for a visit. I love that. I love visitors, both here on my blog and here in my home. Most people don't leave a comment though :-( It makes me wonder...
are they shy?
did they come by mistake?
or they in a hurry?
did they not enjoy the post?
9 times out of 10 I leave a comment when I visit a blog. But that's just me. Everybody thinks differently.
How about you? Just curious.
Speaking of visitors...my son Eric and his family are coming tomorrow for the long holiday weekend. I'm so excited!!!!

I generally post a comment on my favorite blogs...like yours. To tell the truth, I am following way too many and I just can't comment on all of them anymore. Kinda makes me sad. Sometimes I think I might delete a lot of them and just follow 10 or 15 like the old days!!!
Hi Kat - I have a lot of visitors and most of them don'[t leave comments either. I do have some blogs that I don't comment on often, others I usually do. It depends on how well I feel I know the person. I wish I had time to comment on all of them!

I am huddled up with football for the next few months...Columbus and Athens....please take care of my beloved beach...would love to be there for Labor Day, just not enough time to get there and back...if you could swing by the Donut Hole or George's at Alys Beach for me, I can try to get by Dinglewood (Laura Bush was there this week) or Deorio's for you! I will be at the Backwaters for Labor Day, thinking of the beach! Enjoy Labor Day!

I'm one of the ones who reads several blogs and rarely comments. Not cause I don't enjoy your writing, it is more of a time issue. I stop by almost every day though for a "beach fix".
Great post and question. I have often wondered about that too; For the most part I leave comments I would 8 out of 10 I visit I do. Although there are many that I follow and do read on a regualr basis.
I wonder if there are any statistics aavailable on this topic?

Hi Kat. I thoroughly enjoy reading your posts. As another FL girl who is probably about your age, I can relate to much of what you write about. I have actually been lurking/reading regularly for 2, maybe even 3 years but I don't think I've ever left a comment. Why? I don't really know!
Somewhere I read only a very small percentage (maybe 5 to 7%) of blog visitors actually leave comments so I think what you (and I too) are experiencing is pretty typical for the average blogger. With all the great new blogs that have popped up in the last couple of years, I think people's blog lists have gotten much, much longer and they just try to visit as many blogs as they can. Commenting takes up time they could be reading several more blogs instead. I know I'm very guilty of this. ::hanging my head in shame::
The comments I get are a very small percentage compared to the number of hits I get on my blog daily. Sure, I'd love more comments too but I just try to remember people are super busy. At least I can tell from my stat counter I get lots of visitors, many of them regulars, so I know I'm not sitting here talking to myself.
I promise I'll try to make time to say "hi" more often. :)
