GOT TUMS?

We went to Cantina Laredo tonight with our friends Rudy and Sharon who are in town for a long weekend. It's always so nice to get to spend time with them.

The table side prepared guacamole, chips and salsa, chicken fajitas and my frozen pomegranate margarita was all delicious a few hours ago, but my tummy is aching now. It could have been the Mexican brownie dessert we all shared at the end. Or all of the above. Ugh!

BTW...Have you ever had the Mexican brownie? Its a HUGE brownie with pecans on a sizzling skillet with Mexican brandy butter and cinnamon ice cream. We don't normally order dessert, but I was emailed a certificate for a free dessert for my birthday. That's my excuse and I'm sticking with it!

What is it about Mexican food that makes you (me anyway) think you can just keep eating and eating?!

Right now, nothing sounds good, except maybe some Tums. Ugh!

Update Friday morning - much better this morning!

My bible study class started a new session this morning. It's Beth Moore's lecture series on Revelation - Here and Now...There and Then.

I think it's going to be a good one.

Looking forward to the weekend, especially with our cooler weather.
What's your plans?

JUST WONDERING

Are you as glad as I am that no one can see how we REALLY look as we sit here and blog? I am...especially today.

I've looked a mess since I got up this morning. But that's okay because I've stayed home all day and I'm slowly getting things organized.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I've been awarded THE VERSATILE BLOGGER award. Thanks so very much Falling Off A High-Heeled Life.
This award required me to list 7 things about myself, so here goes:
1. I'm a night owl.
2. I spend WAY too much time on the computer.
3. I always take my phone and camera with me whenever I go.
4. I keep yawning this afternoon. See #1 ;-)
5. I love climbing into a bed with fresh sheets...and I will tonight:-)
6. I rode my bike 12 miles today and enjoyed the cooler temp.
7. I love to break dark chocolate into small pieces and sprinkle it over hot popcorn. Oh.my.word! Delicious and messy, but soooo good!
YEAH BABY!
Lots of reasons today for me to say YEAH BABY!
George survived his colonoscopy and all is good! Yeah Baby!
I went for my six month checkup with my breast cancer surgeon and all is good. Yeah Baby!
Donations are coming in for my Making Strides Against Breast Cancer team for our walk on October 30th. We have raised $1,110.00 so far. Yeah Baby!
My Mom, my aunt, my "Other Mother", all of my siblings and their spouses and both of our daughters are coming to walk with me. I hope even more of my family will too. And lots of our friends and neighbors plan to walk with us too. Yeah Baby!
Did you have reasons today to say Yeah Baby! too? I hope so.
Click on the thermometer on my sidebar if you'd like to donate to my team. Every little bit helps!
SORRY VINCE
Sorry Vince...sunny Florida wasn't so sunny last night.
Actually it was perfect...until right before you were to come on.....so sad!
I might have jinxed things for me AND you too (sorry) when I said more than once that I wanted to hear you, but I was most excited about seeing Mary Chapin Carpenter again. I saw her years ago in Nashville and loved her. I have so many of her songs on my iPod and I have her CDs out the "wazoo". I love so many of her songs, including Passionate Kisses, Stones In The Road, He Thinks He'll Keep Her, I Feel Lucky, The Long Way Home.
As soon as Mary Chapin finished her show and we all stood up to stretch a bit before Vince came on stage...and I mean it happened quickly...the rain came, fast and hard. George and I huddled under an blanket and tried to wait it out, but finally gave up and left.
Pooh!
Sorry Vince!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We got there early before the gates were even open.
One of our friends had a cocktail party in one of her rental condos that looked over the concert. It was perfect because we could enjoy ourselves while we watched the crowd grow and grow. Our sweet guys went and put our chairs right up front.
We didn't have to go down until right before the show. And we had a potty!
Thanks Mary Chapin Carpenter for an awesome show! You haven't changed a bit in 16 years.
I walked around and took some photos to show the whole stage and crowd, but it was too dark by then.

As I say all the time

"things don't always go perfectly, but you end up with some perfect memories!"

Now when I think of Vince Gill, I will always remember sitting under a VERY wet blanket with my hubby.

WHO SAID BIRTHDAYS ARE HARD

Not me!

I had tennis this morning and then lunch in the village at Cabos Paradise Grill with George and Miss Daisy.

I received "boo kootles" of facebook birthday wishes and lots of blog comments and cards and packages and phone calls and people singing "Happy Birthday" to me.

It was an amazing day. And then...

Tonight we celebrated with good friends at one of my favorite places on 30-A, Trattoria Borago. It was wonderful!

To all of YOU who made my birthday extra special...

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Tomorrow night Vince Gill and Mary Chapin Carpenter are putting on a concert here at the resort just for me and my birthday. Can't wait!

Sssshhhh....don't tell the thousands of other residents and guests....they think it's for them too. wink wink

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!

I used to dread my birthday. I've always loved making a BIG deal out of birthdays for everyone else, but I used to pooh-pooh my own.

Not anymore. After cancer, birthday are special !!! 4-1/2 years ago I prayed for more birthdays. Thank you Lord for every day!

The American Cancer Society's slogan this year is a good one:

A world with less cancer is a world with more birthdays!

Now I celebrate each second, minute, hour and every.single.day!

The candles on the cake are increasing and there's a greater chance of fire each year, but...

I'm celebrating baby!

Don't wait for your birthday, celebrate today! It's soooo worth celebrating.

THIS LITTLE PIGGY

I don't know about you, but money is tighter. It's crazy how times have changed in recent years. Everyone I know keeps hoping things will change. And the economy is always being discussed.

We definitely are cutting back. How about you?

I think twice about spending now. Stopping by $tarbuck$ is a treat instead of a routine. We eat out a lot less, which honestly is kinda nice. I stopped going for manicures and pedicures as often as I used to. It started after our daughter's wedding when I decided to give my nails a "rest" and had my acrylic nails removed. I thought my nails would be awful, but they actually are stronger than ever and I like not having to go so often. I decided today to wash my own car. I haven't done that in f-o-r-e-v-e-r (seriously). And you know what? It was fun and not really that hard....and it didn't cost a thing. My car looked better than when I take it to the carwash. I was quite proud of myself. Plus, I got some good exercise. Squats, stretches, bending.

What are you doing to cut back?

LIFE IS ONE BIG OBSTACLE COURSE

Edited to add: 9/22 lunch time:
I guess a few people thought I was feeling negative when they read this post. LOL Not true. Just reminding myself not to get frustrated, but to accept the obstacle and to "keep on keeping on"......

Do you ever feel like you make big plans (to lose weight, to workout more, to clean out the garage, to work in the yard...) and one obstacle after another seems to stand in your way?

Me too.

GIRLS JUST GOTTA HAVE FUN!

Want to have some fun? Do what my Mom does...call your family and tell them to come for a Girls Getaway Weekend. Not everyone could come, but those that did sure did have fun. We laughed, we even shed a few tears, we made announcements, we celebrated, we ate (lots) and drank (lots) and played games (of course). We hugged and loved on each other.

It was GOOD!

My birthday cake that my sweet sister Kim made...chocolate, of course! Delish!

The four birthday girls - my nephew's fiance Alisha, my niece's daughter Jezzie, Me and my aunt Sherry. (notice what it says on the wine glass to the right... "My age is between 29 and none of your business." LOL)
Jezzie had her own birthday party on Sunday afternoon. She's three now! Adorable.
Here she is showing off "her stuff" (and it looks like I was too!). She loves to play dress up, so I gave her the necklace and shoes.

I love my family!

Thank you Lord for the blessing of spending quality time together...and for the GIFT of loving and being loved!

COLOR ME HAPPY

It's been wonderful having our friends Jack and Linda in town this week. Tonight we had dinner together at Trattoria Borago to celebrate mine and Linda's birthdays. Mine is next week and Linda's is next month, but since we won't be together on our actual birthdays, we celebrated tonight.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm doing the HAPPY DANCE tonight 'cause in the morning I'm going to spend the weekend at my Mom's. She's invited all the "girls" in the family for a GIRLS GETAWAY.
Fun times ahead! Games, food and wine, silliness and laughter, story telling and picture taking. Can't wait.
