Until the last year Damn Menopause!, I haven't sweated much at all. I've just "glistened" a bit, if anything. But boy hidey, things have certainly changed. And when a FLASH comes on, I almost panic I get so hot. Can you spot my new secret weapon on my vanity? Sometimes when I'm getting dressed and drying my hair, I have to stop and cool off. And that's hard to do when you're in a hurry. This tiny "jewel" is gonna save me.
I actually have several of them now. I picked the first one up a few days ago at WALM*RT aka "Wally World" for $.96... AND it comes with the batteries included! I thought "what the heck, let's see what this baby can do".
They are amazing! Two small foam blades create a lot of cool air! It's unbelievable! I went back this afternoon to pick up a few more for my tennis buddies and for me too. And guess what? Today they were marked $.50. I did a happy dance as I headed to the check-out counter.~~~~~~
Oh girls, if you like chocolate (and who doesn't) and peanut butter, you've gotta try this dessert that a friend told me about today. It's a South Beach Phase 1 recipe, I believe. And it's sooo yummy. I can tell you first hand since I tried it myself tonight. And it's so easy too.
Take one no sugar added fudgesicle and let soften until you can scrape it off the stick. Add one heaping tablespoon of peanut butter (I use Simply Jif since it has less sodium and sugar) and one heaping tablespoon of Sugar Free Cool Whip. Stir together until the three ingredients are blended. Put in freezer for 30 minutes. Enjoy! Oh.My.Word! I almost licked the bowl! Notice there's no picture of it. I didn't think about photos are anything else when I was busy devouring this treat.

Thanks for your prayers for Beth. She's improving a little bit more each day.

And look at this beautiful award Susie Q at Rabbit Run Cottage has passed on to me along with many others. Thank you so much sweet Sue! Your blog is a treasure.

I have about a gazillion of those little fans. I keep one in every room and in my purse and the car. They really work!
I'm going to try that chocolate-peanut butter treat. Sounds SOOOO good! I need something good and low in points as a snack.
I think the green in the fan helps to pull some of the green from the flowers off to the right :)
I bought some of those too last week on case the hurricane came our way and we lost power.
The fudgesicle treat looks delish especially on a hot day!
Get your umbrella ready. Faye is coming your way!
Congrats on the award. Isn't that a pretty pic, too.
Glad to hear that Beth is better. Hope she is able to regain her strength and enjoy some good days.
OOH, that treat sounds sooo good. I am trying so hard to be narrow minded, and stay on the straight and narrow. But, I will keep this recipe handy for a week moment.
Love the rainbow pics, too. I always count seeing a rainbow as getting an extra blessing from God.
The fans, yeah! I have several of them! There are times they have been worth a heap of money to me!
Off to the hospital to see Pop. Then a weigh in and a meeting with the architect. Busy day!
You have a good one.
What a beautiful, peaceful award - congratulations!
I love those little fans - they can be really helpful.
Kat,
I have an award for you at Sunbonnet Cottage.
Melissa
I'm on my way to Wally World. That is a great idea. I have a meltdown everytime I dry my hair. Can you tell me what section of Wally they can be found in.
Oh, and while I'm there I will have to pick up the ingredients for the fudgsicle treat. Yummy!!
So glad to hear Beth is doing better. I had a cousin who suffered with MS. It is horrible.
Enjoy the day,
Kim
Fans save my life and have for about 6 years now! I actually have one on a stand in my dressing area - what with the hair dryer and flat iron, it gets mighty hot! I also have a little battery operated one (a little bigger than yours) I take to auctions. I'll have to check out those you show and grab me a few!
Thanks for the tip!
Judy
I have to try that. It sounds so easy and soooooooooo good.
I need to pick up a couple of those little fans. Sure would have come in handy last November for the wedding. I took a small tower fan to the hotel, where we stayed...Saved my life!!! I might pick up a couple of these small ones to throw in the suitcase, for trips.
Kat,
You are very welcome for the award and I am so glad that we have become friends, too.
You are a dear friend.
Thank you.
Melissa
Those little fans are amazing, aren't they? Luckily I'm getting beyond those dreadful heat flashes. I started them earlier than usual because I had a complete hysterectomy at age 49. I used to say I felt like a furnace started up inside of me and the heat just poured out.
Those chocolate treats sound great. I must try that.
My girls have these little fans but theirs stopped working. I can see how they'd especially be wonderful in Florida!
Congratulations on the beautiful award, Kat!
Come over and read about our latest adventure if you haven't already! ;)
Hugs!

Aren't those little fans just the best?! The woman who sings beside me in our choir brings one to church. I've used it more than she has. What an easy recipe for a delightful snack! Thanks, Kat!
If your flashes ever get really bad, you can can fill up a spray bottle with water and have your fan going in one hand and the spray bottle in the other! Then you will have a complete misty cold spray blasting right onto you... Better yet, put those grandbabies to work having them mist you while you fan yourself. See? There's just tons of solutions out there for hot flashes...
Thanks for the heads up on the fans. I am going to have to try that recipe! Sounds great!
diane
that recipe sounded so good I just wrote it down! It does sound yummy!
Hugs!
Susie Q's award is so sweet!
About those fans...I need about a dozen of them myself...so I'm heading to Wally World this weekend. Enough with the "glistening"...we southern gals prefer to "sparkle"!!!
Thanks for the fudgesicle recipe - I'm definitely trying that one!
Robin
I need that little fan. I was sitting here this morning drinking my coffee and was sweating something awful. That's with my air turned way down because of this menopause stuff. Whenever Mike complains about the air being way down, I ask him if would like the alternative(a not very happy wife). LOL
Yum..I love them both and together..and how easy is that
recipe!!!
I love your lil fan and being hot..
LOL

I've seen those little fans but never thought how useful they could be! I must get some! I get those flashes now too! (pouty face)
Your vanity is beautiful!
You cracked me up with this post. My hot flashes can soak me... I am carrying an extra white "T" shirt in my car that can go with anything for
"just in case".
School went very well this week but I was definitely ready for the weekend!
