SHIVER ME TIMBERS! WE HAD FUN

Yo-ho-ho! Sydney Anne's pirate party was a blast!
(photos are clickable)
Here we are with our grandson, Landon, and Angela's Dad.
The two granddads place our son and three grandchildren in jail.
George and I take a prisoner.
Landon and GrandDad strike a pose.
Sydney Anne with what's left of her pirate pinata...look at those sweet flushed checks from running around
Syndey Anne, the birthday lassie, in front of her cake (I hate the photo is so dark!)
Angela's Dad made the cake. Isn't it wonderful!
It was so yummy!
I couldn't find pirate wrapping paper, so I just decorated our gift using brown paper and cut a pirate out of a coloring book.
Sydney Anne opening gifts.
It was a hot day, but gathering under the tent was nice.

TGIF

Lordy! It was hot, hot, hot on the tennis court this morning! We had a great match though.

George's daughter Kim and her husband Mike are in town, so we met them and our friends Jack and Linda for dinner tonight. We celebrated Mike's birthday which is on Monday.
~~~~~~
The topic everywhere is either about the political situation or Hurricane Gustav. It all makes me want to scream!
We're leaving early in the morning to attend Sydney Anne's pirate birthday party. We're dressing up....tattoos and all! Shiver me timbers!
MY TALENTED FRIEND ROBIN
My friend Robin (she's also in my Tuesday Lunch Bunch) is one talented girl! And sweet and funny too! Look at this cute coaster she made especially for me. After seeing some of the things she creates, I asked if she could do a blonde tennis player holding a glass of red wine. And look how cute. Perfect for beside my computer and I can put any of my favorite drinks on it, hot or cold...coffee, tea, water, diet coke or red wine. I love it. Stop by her blog NothingLikeit and see some of her other creations. I think they make really unique gifts...for someone else or yourself.
As I mentioned, she's funny too. Click here to see a post (and cute video) she did about my threat to the duck.
We're all holding our breaths here in "Paradise" wondering what Gustov will do. Robin left this message on her last comment...too funny not to share:
My buddy watched the weather channel yesterday and heard one of the experts say something that deserves the Idiot Award of the Year: "Gustov is going to impact someone, somewhere". These guys go to weather forecasting school!
~~~~~~
I pray Gustov will just fall apart completely! He is NOT welcome here!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY "MISS SUNSHINE"

Our granddaughter, Sydney Anne, turned 5 today. Five years old! It's so hard to believe. My nickname for her is "Miss Sunshine". She's a ray of sunshine every day!

Her actual party is this weekend and she requested a pirate party. Isn't this invitation the cutest thing?

~~~~~~
Yeah! You saved the duck!!!!! Thanks to all your comments, I'm happy to report that Rubber Ducky is safe. And happy I might add! Her friends even stopped by tonight for a little party and to send hugs to you all with their appreciation.
"Rubber Ducky, you're so fine
And I'm lucky that you're mine
Rubber ducky, I'm awefully fond of you."
Keep commenting and Rubber Duckie will stay safe!
OOPS!, ONLY $11.00, AND A THREAT
How about that for a title!
~~~~~~
I spoke too soon. I guess Fay wasn't done with us yet. Today we woke up to lots of rain. No tennis, so I headed to the gym instead.
It has literally rained off and on ALL day. I'm not complaining though. I'll take rain any day over a hurricane, tornado or flooding!
~~~~~~
Some of our friends (and neighbors) are moving soon and today they had a "tag sale"...an indoor yardsale. You won't believe what I got for just $11.00! Rhoda would be so proud of me (she loves yardsales and good deals). And Lynne will be so jealous (she loves books).
Here's what I spent my $11.00 on. A cute dog print apron, a beautiful set of cake knives, a gorgeous leopard print vase, a crystal golf ball wine stopper (Mikasa and still in the box) and (for George) a golf putting "thingie" from the Masters.
But wait! E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G below was FREE!
They had two LARGE boxes of books and they told me I could take anything I wanted. For free! So....I took it all! Here's just a few books I brought inside.
Look at all these! I stacked them on the back of my car to show George.
Here they are stack by stack. Photos are clickable....let me know if you've read any of these and what you recommend.
FREE!
FREE!
FREE!
FREE!
~~~~~~
And look what else was in the boxes!
DVDs - Season one, two and three of 24. We've never watched this, but have heard so many good things. Now we'll see what all the fuss has been about. Also Season one of Lost. And Season four of Will and Grace. And eight episodes of Andy Griffith. Wow! FREE!
And more DVDs. Some we already own, but some we will enjoy. FREE!

And look at the cookbooks! FREE!
And some audio books! FREE!

And this VCR machine was in another FREE box. My Mom still prefers a VCR, so I picked this up for her to either use here when she visits or she can take it home.
~~~~~~
Not a bad day. Right? All of this for just $11.00! Color Me Happy!
~~~~~~
Okay, don't make me get rough. Please! I know everyone is busy, but I've really noticed a decline in my comments lately. I know I'm still getting lots of visits, but you're coming and leaving without a comment. Just like you, I love to get comments. So come on....save a duck! He's such a cute little innocent thing! Just look at that face.

LAZY SUNDAY

Everyone here was happy to wave goodbye to Fay. Or maybe I should say we waved goodbye to the threat of Fay. All we got here was a lot of wind and some rain. But not much rain really. No flooding like so many here in the state of Florida. Thank you Lord! When we left for church this morning, the sun was shining and the day was beautiful.

I'd much rather see the weather forecasters be honest instead of scaring everyone so much. For those of us who have been through several hurricanes before, it doesn't take much to make us worry. Thank you Lord this time we were spared.

"Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass. It is about learning how to dance in the rain."

I'm not sure why, but I felt so exhausted today. After lunch and taking Miss Daisy for a golf cart ride, I gave in and took a nap. A 4 hour nap! Four hours! Unbelievable! When I woke up, I felt drugged. That feeling of not knowing where I was or what time or day it was. So weird! I had planned to get some things done. Oh well, tomorrow's another day Scarlet!

No time to cook a big meal, so tonight we're having BLT's. Yum!
