THIS MADE ME FEEL BETTER!

What a nice surprise! I had just finished my post for the night and was about to turn off the computer and go to bed when I got a sweet comment from Karen at Karen's Ramblings letting me know she had given me another award. Thank you so much Karen! Your blog is certainly a friendly place to visit.

I'd like to pass this award on to:
Deb at Lavender Chick
Teresa at Living The Life
Sheila at GimMe Memories
DebraK at ~the bunnies' bungalow~
Angie at By Faith

WOW

I think I'm coming down with a cold. I've felt pretty yucky for a few days now, but I thought it was just sinus trouble. Today it feels more like a cold with a sore throat. I can't really think clearly tonight after taking my cold medicine, so I'm not up to writing a post. But...

If you get a chance, stop by Jenn's at Serving The Queens. Her writing is so amazing!

This was posted on Jennifer's blog (The Beaufort Lookout) and I LOVED it. It gave me sweet chills. I thought the message was powerful so I asked Jennifer if I could post it too. Enjoy:

LAZY, BUT FUN SUNDAY

It was a lazy, but fun day. After church, I literally did nothing other than make a run to the grocery store for supplies and then made a few appetizers for tonight...black bean salsa and a vidalia onion dip.

Darlene, Jeanette, Me, Barbara and Lisa

Tonight the girls came over for appetizers and we played Mexican Train Dominos. What fun! I laughed until I cried. Darlene had us all in stiches!

******************************************************

Tracey's in town for a wedding and called tonight in the midst of all the chaos. We got to talk for a few minutes, but I didn't get to see her :-( Maybe in the morning...fingers crossed.

******************************************************

I got this e-mail from our daughter, Bree, a little while ago:

Jay and I did a pumpkin tonight! I drew the pattern by looking at a pic on the internet and pinned holes in the pumpkin. And Jay got all the "yuck" out and carved the pumpkin! He did amazing!

I think it looks awesome, especially the one showing it lit!

Jill's having another giveaway! She's giving the cutest bag from Modsacks and the book this time is The Grapes of Wrath. Pop over and leave her a comment. I did. I'm hoping to win this time :-)

BREAST CANCER WALK

What a gorgeous day we had for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk this morning. Cool and crisp! Invigorating!

It's hard to put into words my feelings as I stood amongst the crowd knowing I'm a survivor. I.AM.A.SURVIVOR!!!! Praise God! To see the love and feel the excitment was awe inspiring.

(most photos are clickable.)

George walked with me. I was given a pink "Survivor" t-shirt when we registered.

Barbara, Jeanette and Darlene walked with us.

Believe it or not, this is just one team. They were walking for the lady in the pink hat in the middle of the photo.

It was touching to see the backs of walkers proclaiming "Walking for my sister", "Walking for Carol", "Walking for my Mom"......

Wearing a pink wig, one of The American Cancer Society volunteers tells us about the route.

Survivors Photo at the starting line. I was amazed at how young most of us were. (I'm 2nd to the right of the girl wearing an orange jacket in the center of the photo.)
The walk begins....
Yep, my group was up front! We walk alot so we knew we'd want to keep a good pace. It made it easy to stop and take some photos too. :-)

Here's some photos along to way, just to show how gorgeous the day was and what a pretty walk it was.

See why we think we live in "Paradise"?

WE REALLY ARE A COMMUNITY

Sandi at Holding Patterns and Kari at Just Livin' Large has awarded me and many others the Community Blogger Award.

Here's a little part of what Sandi wrote on her post:

I have been at a loss as to how to thank my Blogging Community for all the prayers and sincere concern over Joey Andrus's recent eventually fatal work related accident. I didn't want to "invent" an award, that would put to much of the attention on me, and I want the attention on the friends of our "community". We are a community, after all...

Sandi's words are so true. We are a "community". We really, really are. I can't begin to describe how much being a part of this blog "community" has meant to me. We share our lives, our worries, our joys and our sorrows. We pray for each other, console each other, teach each other, share photos, share jokes, show off projects, etc. It's hard to put it all down in words. I guess what it boils down to is that even though we live all across the country and even across the world, we are still a "community". And I'm proud to be here.

The premise of the award is simple. Cellobella at Redsultana , who is the designer and creater of this award says this: "The Community Blog Award celebrates people who reach out and makes the blogger community a better one."

Thank you Sandi and Kari...I am honored to get this award. I truly am. I think you both also deserve this award. You certainly have reached out to all of us and have made this blogger community a better place. I will continue to pray for you both and for Joey's entire family and all those who loved him.

MY FRIDAY

Another gorgeous Fall day! George and I got in a long walk this morning before breakfast. Perfect weather to walk.
*****************************************************

Jeanette, Me and Barbara Oct. '06

Oh.My.Word! I'm exhausted. I carved 98 pumpkins this morning in no time at all. Oh yes ma'am I did! You can do it too. I know you can. Go here to see how.

This is how we did it for real last year.
*****************************************************

I met Madison for lunch at Cantina Laredo. Yum Oh! Madison works for Dr. "B" my Radiologist/Oncologist and we became friends from the "get-go". Love her! It was nice just to sit and chat.
***************************************************

Miss Daisy's hair is finely starting to grow back after she got shaved 3 weeks ago. George and I took another walk this afternoon and she went with us. I think she walks us instead of us walking her. LOL She's all muscle and she can just pull us along quite easily.

*******************************************************

George and I (and a group of our friends) are doing the "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer" walk in the morning. I'm really looking forward to it.

Don't forget to click on The Breast Cancer Site button on my sidebar or click here. We can all make a difference.

A WONDERFUL DAY

What a gorgeous day today! It was one of those "I'm so glad to be alive" days. I know...every day is a great day to be alive, but you know what I mean. One of those days when everything just seems perfect. After having headaches and a backache for almost a week, today was pain free. Yeah! There was a wonderful feel to the day. A day I wish I could bottle.

***************************************
I played tennis with the girls and I kept stopping just to look around and breath in the fresh, cool, crisp, wonderful Fall air. Everywhere I looked, beauty surrounded me. It was great to be back on the court. I haven't played in weeks, which is very unsual.
********************************************************
George and I took a long walk up to Baytowne Village for lunch and walked back home. It was invigorating just to be outside. I couldn't help but think about how a little over a year ago I broke my leg and wasn't able to play tennis or do my walks. It's wonderful to be doing both, especially on gorgeous days like today. I try hard not to take even these simple things for granted.
*********************************************************
George and I are both walking in the Breast Cancer Walk on Saturday. Jeanette and Barbara are walking too. I sure hope the weather is like today.
*********************************************************
Even Miss Daisy is loving these cool days too. She's even more playful when we're outside.
*********************************************************
Tonight the ladies group from our church met at one of the girls' houses. We're calling ourselves Simple Faith Friends (a sisterhood of friendship, sharing, love and faith). It was a fun time. We don't have a set program. We're just getting together once a month to get to know each other on a more personal level. This was just our second time. Last month we met for lunch. I think everyone liked it better having it at night since some of the girls are working. I'm guessing there were 20 or more that came tonight.

Thank you God for a wonderful day!

I'M HUGGING YOU ALL TODAY

Anyone who knows me, knows I LOVE hugs. I've written about it many times, including here. Hugs are important to me. They just feel good. I usually sign my notes, comments and e-mails with Hugs, Kat.

Today I'm hugging you all in my heart. Have a wonderful day. Thanks for being a part of my life.

Hugs,

MY HEART IS SAD

Somtimes there are no perfect words, only thoughtful silences that whisper softly of caring.

My heart is sad tonight for my sweet blog friends, Kari and Sandi, who lost a loved one after a tragic work related accident. I have been praying for Joey and his sweet wife, Karen, and their two young sons. Please include this entire family in your prayers.

Hugs!
