A DOG DAY AFTERNOON

Miss Daisy

TRIBUTE TO A DOG

The one absolutely unselfish friend that man can have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him, the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous, is his dog. A man's dog stands by him in prosperity and in poverty, in health and sickness. He will sleep on the cold ground, where the wintry winds blow and the snow drives fiercely, if only he may be near his master's side. He will kiss the hand that has no food to offer, he will lick the wounds and sores that come in encounter with the roughness of the world. He guards the sleep of his pauper master as if he were a prince. When all other friends desert, he remains. When riches take wing and reputation falls to pieces, he is as constant in his love as the sun in its journey through the heavens.

~Senator George Vest, 1870

This afternoon, my friend, Jeanette brought her dog, George (yep, he's named after my husband George) over to play with Miss Daisy. They had a ball!

George takes a rest in Jeanette's lap while Miss Daisy tries to get him to play.
Me with my big baby, Miss Daisy

Miss Daisy and George share a bowl of water after running around like crazy. They were so much fun to watch.

Miss Daisy stops to rest.
George came home from golf in time to watch them play.

It's great for dogs to meet other dogs to play. Ours gets crazy if there comes a dog here. And your dog is so cute. What sort is she? I liked what the senator wrote about dogs too.

Your Miss Daisy is about the cutest dog I've seen (don't tell my Maggie and Teddy that I said that!). You got a real winner when you got her.

Hello Kat

Molly has playdates, once in awhile, with our neighbor's granddog Champ. Champ was living with them, during the time we built our house. He and Molly became good friends and never forget each other. When Champ comes for a visit, he and Molly run to each other and look like they are hugging. If it were in slow motion, it would look like one of those TV commercials!

These are great photos of two beautiful dogs. I love the tribute! Dogs are special and so are "dog people"!

I first read Lad: A Dog by Albert Payson Terhune when I was ten years old. My one dream was to own a Sunnybank Collie, but alas, it was not to be. I love his writings to this day and have started my grand daughter her own collection of well loved books, Mr. Terhunes, and Laura Ingalls Wilder...Miss Daisy is surely a treasure to you...

I love that Miss Daisy. She reminds me so much of my Tucker. Well actually my 'nephew' Tucker. You can just see the smiles and giggles =D
