SUNDAY THIS AND THAT

***this post was imported over from my other blog Beachkat/Starting Over****

Here we are with our friends Dick and Linda. We're not ready for senior living...yet! We stopped by to visit a friend's Mom who recently moved here from New York. Her place is really nice. Linda and Dick wanted a photo by the sign though to send to their kids who tease them about moving to Florida to retire. LOL

~~~~~~
I snapped this one with my cell phone as I was going into our backyard. My agapanthas are in bloom everywhere and they are gorgeous! Most of mine are purple, but I also have a few white ones. I'll try to take more photos of my flowers with my regular camera tomorrow.
At our church, we have communion every Sunday. It's also called Eucharist, which literally means "good gifts". Jesus said "Do this in remembrance of me". What a privilege to be able to reflect each week on the wonderful gifts Jesus has given us...His broken body and shed blood, which secure our salvation. I love this part of the service and consider it a privilege. In our church we don't drink from the cup. We use the intinction practice which means we take the piece of bread and dip it into the cup.
George and I volunteer at least once a month to help in some way. Sometimes we bring the altar flowers, sometimes we do cleanup after the service, sometimes we bring refreshments, etc. Today was our day to do communion. I held the bread and George held the cup. Children are welcome and I love to see their faces as they take communion with their parents. George and I would bend forward to let them participate. It's a sweet moment to watch them. While they may not understand the deep theological meaning of communion, they can share and feel the blessing of being a part of God's family who love one another and who are deeply loved by Jesus Christ.
~~~~~~
We got in a good 12 mile bike ride tonight after dinner! Now I'm ready for my shower and jammies.
Night Night!

Hugs and kisses,
Kat

You my friend have inspired me to get out my bike and ride. I start tomorrow morning. It's my first day of summer vacation and I'm going to spend it exercising. I need all of it that I can get if my team is going to win the Biggest Loser challenge at the sisterhood. I also am going to get back to shredding tomorrow. I really fell off the wagon these last few weeks of school. Now, I have no excuses. Are you still shredding?

I'm so impressed with your commitment to exercise...I've just simply got to get back on track. I've finally been cleared for aerobics again after a broken foot, so no more excuses!!! Thanks again for Starting Again...I think it will lead ot bigger and better...

How are you surviving the Florida heat? I can't imagine riding a bike. Visiting Disney in July, I had to have a shower by 2:00.

Those flowers are so pretty. I've never heard of that type. We have communion every other month and today was the day. We were in charge of getting it ready today. Glad you had a nice day!

Even if they don't understand all the signifigance of the tradition, they can understand how scared and special it is. Then as they get older they will already have a special feeling about it.

You all look so great. Healthy and smiling, just like it should be.

I would adore sitting by your pool, love those lounge cushion colors.

I think it's wonderful that you and George volunteer at your church and would have liked to have seen the children participating in communion. I bet they were cute even if they don't understand it all yet.

You are truly blessed, dear friend, and I thank you for letting me be part of your world. Even if it is from miles away. :) xxoo

You speaking of the children at church, Kat, reminds me of my great grand Hunter (3 years old attending Catholic pre-school). The other day when sitting down for lunch, she crossed her self and said 'Father, Son, Holy SPRIT'. LOL

Your yard is so beautiful. I take it y'all didn't get the storms there yesterday that we got here 'again'. :)

Oh, Kat!! It's so good to have you back, exploring and sharing.

The Sunday message was wonderful, (after I got my glasses---it was early, and as I scrolled down, the pool scene caught my eye, and I swear I was seeing three walruses, poised on the lip of their pool, waiting for applause and a fish!!!)

I may need that retirement home sooner than I thought.

I just got back from my morning walk at the park with a friend, but your bike riding inspires me to want to get my bike back out too. I have lost a good bit of weight (due to stress at work) and would love to keep it off.
We had communion at church on Sunday too! What a sweet reminder of Jesus' love for us when he gave his body and died for us on the cross. I'll be right down to lay out by your lovely pool. I just love those flowers! Enjoy this beautiful day. Love & blessings from NC!
