Optimist or Pessimist

I'm more of an optimist...most of the time.

How about you?

The Optimist and Pessimist
===========================
(This is an old joke but its meaning is still relevant)

A family had twin boys whose only resemblance to each other was their looks. If one felt it was too hot, the other thought it was too cold. If one said the TV was too loud, the other claimed the volume needed to be turned up. Opposite in every way, one was an eternal optimist, the other a doom and gloom pessimist.
Just to see what would happen, on the twins' birthday their father loaded the pessimist's room with every imaginable toy and game. The optimist's room he loaded with horse manure.
That night the father passed by the pessimist's room and found him sitting amid his new gifts crying bitterly.
"Why are you crying?" the father asked.
"Because my friends will be jealous, I'll have to read all these instructions before I can do anything with this stuff, I'll constantly need batteries, and my toys will eventually get broken." answered the pessimist twin.
Passing the optimist twin's room, the father found him dancing for joy in the pile of manure. "What are you so happy about?" he asked.
To which his optimist twin replied, "There's got to be a pony in here somewhere!"

That is cute! Don't you just want to give that optomist a pony? And the pessimist a kick in the butt?

Great story! I try to be an optimist but I tend to delve into pessimistic tendencies from time to time.

Are the flip flops new? Very cute! How do you get backgrounds like that with blogspot? You must know your technology!

I thought this story was going to be about my husband and me, in the beginning! We are almost TOTAL opposites. lol Unfortunately, I would be the more pessimistic one. A lot of our "discussions" end with me saying "Randey, you just can't keep Peter Panning your way through life!". lol He's firmly of the mind that everything will always work out. And I'm firmly of the mind that you have to keep your eye on every little detail to MAKE SURE it all works out. lol It's a character flaw I'm working on....

Well, I have to admit, I'm a glass-half-empty kinda girl! But my hubby is the exact opposite--so that's a good balance!!!

By the way, I did get your email, I was just working late on Band stuff. We have our first kick-off supper and meeting tonight. I shouldn't be sitting here reading blogs!

We'll talk soon!

Love ya!

Most of the time I am pretty optimistic. When I get pessimistic I choose to call it "being realistic". ha!

Oh, I love it!!! What a great question today!
I like to think of myself as an optimist! ...although it is raining here in Michigan! ...But we certainly needed it! :)

Have a great day!

"There's got to be a pony in here somewhere!" Love the analogy, Kat. Thanks for blogging about it.

I've heard a version of that story before and love it. Mark me down as an eternal optomist. With God on our side how could be possibly be anything else?!!

Great story. I think I'm an optomist. I believe there is always something to be grateful for and blessings to be found in every trial.

I'm all about being an optimist and finding the pony, BUT, I am NOT all about that smell! :-)
