Well, today isn't one of those days. Everything seems slightly "off kilter", if not totally "off".
Have you had times when you just don't feel like yourself? That's how I feel today. And...I don't like how I look lately. Right now I need a hair cut and maybe some highlights, a pedicure and manicure, new makeup and some new clothes since nothing in my closet makes me happy. Yep, I'm just not a happy camper. I feel sluggish and lazy and bloated. What is this all about? I know, I know...it's probably the blankety-blank menopause! Urggg!
To top it off, our lawn service cut our cable wire yesterday afternoon...which meant no cable, so no TV and no internet. For 26 hours and 48 minutes, but I'm wasn't counting, I'm just sayin'. I m.u.s.t have my internet and George m.u.s.t have his TV. We're lucky there was no blood shed.
You should have seen us profusely kissing the cable man's feet thanking the cable man when he had it all up and running again. :-)

Oh Kat, I know just how days like that feel! I'm sure you look lovely to others but if you don't feel like you look well to yourself it doesn't matter. Get that pedicure and go shopping!
When our cable goes out the computer is out as well and I shouldn't admit it but we're at a complete loss without the televison and computer. Should I yearn for the simpler days??? Nah!
What a disaster. Can you believe we did not have a TV in our home until 1990, or a computer until 1997. I guess we probably read more books, played more games, and got more work done. I don't remember being bored. But try to be without them now, and we would definitely go through serious withdrawal.
Oh I so know how you feel. However, I can't imagine you ever looking anything but great.
Do the haircut and mani and pedi...you will feel like a new woman.
Big Hugs, Lyndy
Okay girl, you have an award on my blog...go get it!
Oh Kat...days like that are beginning to come closer and closer together for me these days...I think I am w/you on the blankety blank menopause...AND I just turned 50 in April...in which I was more than ready to "fully" embrace...I was actually looking so forward to it...but I kid you not...I've had one thing after another since that day...now I face the dreaded "invasion" that all 50 year olds must face...yes I get to start that little fun filled two days from you know where...on Monday...test on Tuesday...well I hear you loose a couple of pounds...albeit temporary!!
You look fab to me...can't imagine you having an off day...but we do all have them...from time to time...seems to me...you need some kind of treat...that pedi sounds like a great place to start...maybe even a massage at the spa...and I love nothing more than a facial...then maybe head on over to some cosmetics counter for a complimetary makeup session...OR shoes...maybe you need to buy some more shoes...I love shoes...they always cheer me up...b/c shoes...like purses and other accesories always stay the same size...so if one is feeling a little off...shoes won't cause you to get down on yourself...my daughter told me years ago...when she was about 20 and still in college...that she loved buying shoes b/c even if you gained a little weight....your shoes usually stayed the same size...wise girl!
Praying tomorrow will be a great day for you...oh! and I can't imagine no internet connection...I can live w/o the t.v...however, my husband may have some withdrawal...Last summer we had a terrible storm come through here...and knocked our electricity out for 6 days...it was maddening I tell you...no "nothing" as far as that goes...we ended up spending a few nights in a hotel...
Take care...blessings to you and yours...

Kat, I so hope you're feeling better today! I can't thank you enough for your link regarding "Funk City". I took that advice, embraced the funk and am feeling better much sooner than I would have thought possible. I wish I had a link to give to you to help you as much as you helped me! Here's hoping you find that "something" that's going to chase away the blues SOON!
Bless your heart! I would be lost without my computer! And George without his sports...poor thing! Go dig your toes in the sand, lay your head back and listen to the waves.
Remember your own personal heaven! I think you need some beach therapy, my friend, and I would love to join you!!!
(By the way, I sent you an email last week and then re-sent it today--not sure if you got it)
Oh Dear Kat, I know all about the sluggish, bloaty, and lazy days. After all, menopause is latin for 'many pauses of sluggishness, bloaty-ness, and lazy-ness'. You can also add in there, 'itchy-ness, dryness, cranky-ness, and bossy-ness'.
I've been through the menopause thing - uuggh! Due to my age, a lot of people don't believe I'm menopausal, but having breast cancer at 38 knocked me into it, whether I was ready for it or not!
The best advice I can give is to feel sorry for youself for a while, it's okay and it will make you feel better. Second bit of advice is to do what my grandmother always said to do for an instant cure of blues: "Honey, why don't you go wash your face and put on some pretty lipstick? It'll make you feel better". You know what? It works ...
Hope you're back to your regular self soon!
Oh my, are we heading for "FUNK CITY" again? Well, you know the treatment. Just go with it!
Really, I'm sorry you are bummed out. I've felt like that myself lately. CHOCOLATE is the answer! :)
Glad your internet is up and running.
Just wondering how you are feeling today? Did you take any of your own advice, stepping out for a bit of pampering? I would love to read a follow-up to this post! =)
I love Lavender Chicks comment about the lipstick~ I think we had the same granma!
I hope you got yourself off to the nail salon at the very least! To me there is nothing like a pedicure to turn my day around (isn't that just awful?)
You know, I have never known the power of a great haircut until recently. When we were on vacation I got my hair completely chopped off. I got some great highlights / lowlights put in and I loved it. Every day since then I look in the mirror and I really like what I see. I have good hair, for the first time in my life and even the clothes I am wearing seem to look better on me.
Run to the salon...it is a powerful thing :)
