LIVING IN THE TOY DEPARTMENT

A great new motto for me and YOU from our friend Tonja at Gathering:

Life is a big departmet store----Spend as much time in the toy department as you can!

I think you can tell we spend all our time on the game aisle! Mom, Sherry and I are playing as many games as we can. Morning, noon and night. Here's a look at some we've been playing (and we're still playing the new one Kings in the Corner too). We have been laughing so hard! Yesterday, I had tears rolling down my checks and had trouble catching my breath. Mom and Sherry are "nuts" and I'm from the same family tree. LOL I'm so happy they're here. Laughter really is the best medicine...for the mind, spirit and soul.

"A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones" ~Proverbs 17:22, NIV

~~~~~~
Here's one more reason I'm glad they're here....just look what they cooked me tonight.
Pork roast with gravy, sweet potato, turnip greens, sliced raw onion, Mom's corn bread and sweet summer peach iced tea. Oh.My.Word! It was "Slap Your Mama" good! Do you know what's in the small bowl next to my ice tea? I bet you southern girls know.
Yep, corn bread covered with "pot liquor"...for those of you unfamiliar with it, it's the liquid in the pot that you cooked your turnip greens in. You're looking at heaven in a bowl. Seriously.
~~~~~~
It's almost midnight and we've just all had our showers and are heading to bed. Another wonderful day. No time to visit my blogging buddies, but I'm thinking of you all and will include you in my prayers. Night night!

I love southern cooking. It must be because I live in "The Southland." That's what they call So. Calif. on the news here. That dinner looks delicious!

I wish I had someone to play games with at my house. I love board games but no one else does.

Hugs to you!

Sounds like you're in the fun house at an amusement park!! Oh, I do love to laugh till I can hardly breathe! It happens all the time when we sisters are together.

I'll have to take your word on how delicious that corn bread covered with pot liquor is. I have never tasted that or turnip greens. We had the PA Dutch version of your pork meal last evening - pork and sauerkraut and real mashed potatoes. Now to me, THAT is heaven on a plate!

Kat that looks so good I'm tempted to lick the computer screen! I love turnips and greens and pot likker, oh honey, sopping it with cornbread...drooling here now...I have a wonderful little thing I do with apples and sweet potatoes...I take 3 large granny smith apples and 3 large sweet potatoes, peel them and cube them and steam them then mash them together with a bit of salt...no butter, no sugar...just pure yumminess!

Hi Kat,

How much fun!! I've never heard of that game and the only game I was good at was Monopoly and Trivial Pursuit. For some reason my mind remembers all kinds of trivial stuff, now if only it will remember the important stuff. That food looks wonderful.

I've got to tell you - every time I ready you blog I'm a little envious of you. Ok - A LOT! You're always on the go, doing great things and eating wonderful looking food!

So glad you're playing in the toy section! It is good for what ails you!

My Pop used to fix up a special mix at night. He would crumble up all the leftover cornbread from supper in a tall glass. Then he would cover it with sweet milk. I am sure you know that is whole milk...some of our Northern buddies may not. Then he'd eat it with a spoon! So, the corn bread and pot liquer reminded me of that. Personally, I vote for your dish over Pop's!

Oh what fun! I come from a game playing family too and we have enjoyed all those games. But - can you believe this? My hubby isn't into games, so we don't play as often as I would like. I love him anyways though!
