BOY WAS I SMART!

Well, my idea has turned out to be a good one! Having Landon here has been so much fun for not only George (Granddad), but me too. We're all having a good time.

While George was at physical therapy this morning, I taught Landon to play Mexican Train Dominoes. I taught him so well, he won the first five games in a row!

And he did a wild and crazy happy dance after each win. He kept saying "I'm really good at this!". He's so modest...just like his Granddad!

Tonight the three of us went to see Wall.E. What a cute, cute movie! We thoroughly enjoyed it. Amazingly, George was able to sit through the whole movie, but by the time it was over, his leg was giving him fits again.

As we were leaving the theatre, I snapped this photo of Landon with Wall.E and Eve.

And another one of Landon with the Incredible Hulk. Landon's pretty tall, but the Hulk is HUGE!

We stopped by his favorite place for dinner. Can you believe an 8 year old boy can eat 4 tacos? I couldn't, but he definitely can. I haven't had a taco in a very long time, but I actually enjoyed it.

After a soak in the whirlpool, George felt good enough to play a few games of Mexican Train before Landon's bedtime. Being the modest person I am (wink), I don't mind telling you...I won both games.

George has his appointment with his doctor in the morning. Hopefully, the MRI results will let us know what's going on.

PHOTO PROOF OF FUN TIMES

Grab yourself a cup of coffee or a diet coke and settle in...I've got a few photos to share of what I've been doing since Sunday. I've been busy having fun!

Tonight:

Jeanette, Lisa, Barbara and I went to see Mamma Mia and then went to Bonefish for dinner. What a fun night! We all loved the movie! So much fun! Do yourself a favor and go see this movie.

George and Landon had a guys night out. They went to Johnny Rockets for dinner and then watched a DVD of the first Harry Potter movie.

This morning:

What a special treat! Today Kari at Just Livin' Large met me for lunch. Since her home is Texas, I never dreamed I'd get a chance to meet her in real life. I was thrilled when I found out she would be coming here this week. We had a wonderful time....just not enough. The time flies by too quickly. We talked and talked and laughed and laughed. She's just as fun (and funny) as I knew she'd be.

Look at this beautiful porcelian bird she brought me. I found a perfect place for it on a shelf in a guest room. She also brought me a wonderful creme brule' scented candle.

Kari, thanks for a wonderful memory-making day and for the wonderful gifts. I hope you'll come and visit here again.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now.....since I haven't been able to post much lately, here's what I've been up to:
Sunday - After church and lunch, I drove to Columbus to visit our son and his wife and our grandchildren. I stopped in Dothan for a quick visit with fellow "B" Club charter member, Tonja at Gathering. It's always fun when we get together. There's just never enough time to catch up. Since we live just 2 hours apart, we really should get together more often. Right Tonja?
~~~~~~~~
I spent Sunday night and Monday night with Eric and Angela and 3 of our grandchildren.

Landon showed me how good he's getting with his Xbox game.
Kaley Grace is the champion every single time we played the memory game. She's pretty darn amazing!

Sydney Anne is having pirate birthday party in August so she wanted to show me her pirate costume.
~~~~~~
Our time together flew by! On Tuesday morning after breakfast, Landon and I packed up to head back to "paradise". When I told the girls to tell Landon goodbye, here's what they did:
They pulled him over to the sofa and tackled him for hugs and kisses. It's alway so touching to see how much the three of them love each other. It was hard to drive away and see Angela and the girls sitting on their front porch in tears.
~~~~~~
On the way home, we stopped at a Texaco station in Alabama that has alligators behind the store. Of course, Landon and I HAD to stop and see them.

~~~~~~
Tuesday night:
We went out for pizza at Fat Clemenza with our friends, Jack and Linda, and their daughter and grandchildren.
Jack holding Anna Grace, Linda and Lucy
Sheri and Linda
The guys acting silly
See?! Silly!
~~~~~~
George is still having leg pain, but Landon has been "just what the doctor ordered". He and George are really having a good time together. Me too! '
George's doctor's appointment is Friday so we hope to find out the results from his MRI (his doctor has been on vacation).
~~~~~~
Okay, now I'm caught up on my posting, but I'm behind (again) on my blog reading!!
ALL SMILES
I'm back home. Landon came back with me. See the smiles? I just knew he'd be "good medicine" for GrandDad. Lots more to tell, but I'm tired tonight and looking forward to my bed and pillow.
ROAD TRIP
George is still having a time of it with his back. We're hoping to hear something about his MRI today. I decided to take a quick road trip after church yesterday to see one of our sons and his family. When I mentioned to George that I might bring back one of our grandsons to spend the week, his face lit up. I think Landon can help by keeping him busy with chess, card games, etc. We're looking forward to a fun week.
On the way here, I made a stop and saw one of The "B" Club members. More on that when I get home on Tuesday.....
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SWEET GIRL
HAPPY 27TH BIRTHDAY TO OUR SWEET "B" BEAR"!!!
It sure doesn't seem like 27 years! What a beautiful big baby you were!
It was love at first sight!
You loved your big brother and he loved you. (And still does!)
These were your first loves - Mario, Lolly Doll, and Jason Wyatt
You've always been a "Daddy's girl".
Another love in your life...Hershey.
And now the true love of your life...Jay. (We love him too!)
(this photo is a few years old, but has always been one of my favorites)
No matter your age, you'll always be Mama's baby "B Bear"! I love you very very much! The mostest!
YEAH! IT'S FRIDAY!
I'm looking forward to the weekend. For some reason this has been a hard week. I'm behind on everything, including blog reading (yet again). Other than getting in some exercise and church on Sunday, we don't have plans. We're still bummed that we had to cancel our trip to watch our grandson's game. Hopefully, I can get my act together since we're staying home. George is better, but still isn't ready to travel or do any of his regular activies...golf, tennis, exercise, biking, etc.
THURSDAY...A LITTLE OF THIS AND A LITTLE OF THAT
Linda and Miss Daisy
We went out to dinner with our friends Jack and Linda tonight to a new barbecue restaurant that recently opened called JamBones. Very, very good! Someone in my exercise class this morning told us about it. When we got back to our house, Miss Daisy was extra loving. She really likes Linda. Just look at how she climbed up into her lap. She stayed that way for a long time. So cute!
Linda loved it! Linda's a dog lover and Jack isn't. Jack's a cat lover and Linda isn't.
A bit of good news on George. He seems to be doing much better. Yesterday was pretty good and today has been even better. Our fingers are crossed that whatever it was is on it's way out! He saw the acupuncturist this morning and the physical therapist this afternoon and they both are pleased with his progress. Still no news on the MRI. (His doctor is on vacation this week.)
PITCHING FITS
Have you ever had one of those days when it seems like everyone and everything is conspiring against you? Of course you have! We all have 'em. Well today has been that way for me. It started with me turning off the alarm this morning and falling back asleep. I needed to be on the tennis court at 8:00 am, so I barely had time to eat a quick bowl of cereal and brush my teeth. Then I got on the court....the one farthest from the car, of course...when I found I had brought everything with me except my tennis racquet. Grrrrrr.! The sky was very gray and overcast, but HOT HOT HOT! Our club has (or I should say HAD) grass courts that no one really ever wanted to use. So, today a crew was removing the grass with very very very very loud machinery. Plus the landscapers, of course, had to cut grass, use the edgers, and blow right beside our court! Plus...oh yes, there is more...lots of airplanes kept flying overhead. Loud airplanes. Between all of the above, you couldn't hear a-n-y-t-h-i-n-g! Not the score, not the sound of the ball, not even what your partner was trying to tell you. I had a major headache by the time I left. I just wanted to scream. You know how toddlers lay in the floor and pitch a fit if they're unhappy?...picture me laying on the court doing that 'cause that's exactly what I wanted to do. Maybe if I had, I wouldn't have had the headache.
And that was just my morning...LOL
~~~~~~
But...here's the good part...the rain waited until after we finished. And then the glorious much needed rain came.
~~~~~~
No improvement for George yet. He's still having pain and can't do anything. We planned to take a trip this weekend to go watch our grandson's game. We've had this planned for awhile and was really looking forward to it. It's not gonna happen. We're both bummed. I know George feels like pitching a fit too...except he can hardly move.
~~~~~~
Now for something good:

Do yourself a favor and read the wonderful/lesson Cheryl has posted today. Click here to read.

STRIKE TWO

Yep, I've still got chocolate on the brain. Remember back in May when I discovered Bliss dark chocolate? It's been a love affair ever since that day. Just one piece and I'm pretty darn happy. I love to take small nibbles and let them melt slowly in my mouth. Happiness in such a small package! Today I used my coupon and picked up a bag. Why? Silly question! I've got to have plenty on hand so I can take my own advice:

Put "eat chocolate" at the top of your "to do" list every day. That way, at lease you'll get one thing done.

Another piece of advice for your "to do" list:

Have a glass of red wine with your dinner, followed by another piece of dark chocolate. (What a wonderful combination! My, oh, my!)

Even our doctor agrees a glass of red wine is good for us. Of course, his idea of a glass (2-4 ounces) and mine are completely different!

So....even on lazy days or extra busy days, I know I'll be able to strike two things off my "to do" list without a problem!
~~~~~~
Today I had to take a friend to the airport which is about 45 minutes away. I don't get over in that area very often, so I spent some time shopping. I know it's just July, but I'm really into shopping for Christmas stocking stuffers. I'm waaaaay ahead of the game this year. Yeah me! I also found some cute shirts on sale. It was kinda fun to just take my time and shop. I also spent some time at the library. I love books, both audio and "real" books and it's always hard for me to refrain from bringing too many home.
