This week Shannon at Rocks In My Dryer is doing a Birthday Edition of Works for Me Wednesday. Stop by her blog for more ideas.
Anyone who knows me, knows I love photos. I usually have my camera with me everywhere I go. Life is one BIG "Kodak moment". I can remember though when my kids were small and I was knee deep in their parties. Chaos all around. Trying to make sure everything was just right. Making sure everyone was having a good time. Doing the food. Doing the cake and ice cream and candles. All the fun stuff we Moms have to do. What would have been a really great help was having someone else be in charge of taking photos. Not me, not my husband, not any other family member. So, my suggestion is that we all keep this in mind and offer in advance to be the photographer since we're there anyway. What a gift that would be for the family! Lots of memories to enjoy for years to come.

Despite the chaos, my husband always makes sure to get good shots during our son's birthday parties. Of course, my husband is a professional photographer, so that helps!
Still, I like your idea of making a point to be someone else's photographer when we're attending a party!
Thanks for sharing!
This is true! I volunteered one time and it was great. Like what you said, the mom of teh celebrant was sooo busy... she ddn't have a lot of photos, but I did. It was a princess party with all the kids dressed up and it was fun to take photos. I'm glad we captured the moments :)
Great tip!
Although I usually take my camera to my niece's parties, I'm far from the 'official photographer.' That IS a great idea...I'm going to offer to do that for someone sometime...and I'll give YOU the credit! Thanks for a great idea!
So true! It seems I have fewer and fewer photos of each child as they progress in age...I've got to get back to doing this!
This is a wonderful idea. For my older daughter's fifth birthday we threw a party and, yes, we took what pictures we could while doing everything else. No one else had a camera that day. Out of all the pictures we were able to take, my mother-in-law is only seen in part of one. I know this because I searched through all of the pictures intently two weeks later when my m-i-l died unexpectedly. Oh, how I wish there was a picture of Marie with her grandmother on that special day.
