IT STILL FEELS LIKE HOME

I love Nashville.

I really do. And there's a handfull of people who would jump in real quick if they heard me say that. Why? Because when we moved here 18 years ago, I was not a "happy camper". I came "kicking and screaming". Like a dummy, I thought it would be nothing but country music, cowboy boots and cowboy hats and lots of clothes with fringe. (Don't get me wrong, I love country music and I like cowboy boots and hats...just not every day.) Yep, I was such a dummy. Nashville is actually a very cosmopolitan city, full of life and excitement. And absolutely beautiful. I love that you can experience all four seasons here. And every season is beautiful. I can just drive around for hours and drool over the magnificent homes, stone walls, lush landscaping and the many choices of great places to eat and shop. George and I had some fun this afternoon after our dental appointments to do just that. We took some time and just rode around all over the place. We also rode by our old houses. One of the streets where we used to live is changing big time. McMansions everywhere. I think one of the country stars must live in one of them since we saw a tour bus. We also visited our old country club, Hillwood, and talked to the tennis pro who was there when we were members. Nashville still feels like home. It's been 10 years since we left. Guess what? I left "kicking and screaming". I didn't want to leave. I guess I should just go ahead and admit it right now. Each time we've had to move (because of business), I've left "kicking and screaming" and then settled in and loved my new city...and then left once again "kicking and screaming". My Mom once told me "Don't worry. You always bloom where you're planted." And Mom was right, of course.

There's absolutely no plans for us to ever move again. We love living in "paradise", but if we ever were to move, Nashville would be my first choice. Two of our kids love Nashville too. I'm hoping one of them decides to make Nashville home so I can come more often. How about it Eric and Angela? Bree and Jay?
~~~~~~
Our dental appointments went well. Thank you Lord. Tonight we're having dinner with our dentist and one of his daughters. His wife and other daughter are on a mission trip. Again...I'm so thankful that our dentist is also our good friend.
~~~~~~
We're heading to Memphis tomorrow. Bree and Jay are meeting us there. I'm so excited to see them and I'm REALLY excited that Bree and I will be shopping for THE dress. Wish us luck!

Hugs and kisses,
Kat

Kat;

I LUV Nashville. I would move there in a second. I LUV the fact you are surrounded by the mountains and lakes.

I hope Bree finds the dress of her dreams. Who knows we may pass you guys your way to Memphis. We will be headed south on 55 Saturday to Gulf Shores for a week of fun and sun!

Actually I have been thinking about planning a a mini vacation there.

Glad your dentist appt went well. I can't imagine having to move from a place you are so happy in. I have always lived within 70 miles of where I was born. I left our old house kicking and screaming and it is just a mile away from our new one. I do not do change well.

Hope you find the perfect dress.

We have moved 11 times for business and I also go kicking & screaming but each city or town brings so many wonderful experiences. Have a good time dress hunting. Your daughter is so cute that I bet every dress she puts on will look lovely.

Hi Kat,

I wish I knew you and George were in Nashville, Shelia Boyd and I live only about 74 miles SE of Nashville and I am down there at least every week or every other week. We'd love to met you guys at The Palm or The Melting Pot for dinner. Next time you are in "Our neck of the woods" give us a shout before hand. McMinnville is beautiful! If you and George need a little break, Rock Island is a beautiful are to vacate to. We have an aquaintance who owns a beautiful 3 story home there and sometime we and another family go to their River Home. Our friends are really close to them and we usually get a little pontoon boat ride in ever so often (2 to 3 hr trip) Those are some really relaxing times!

Be careful and I am glad to hear you were back in Middle Tennessee once again!

Hi Kat, I miss you too, but I'm still way too busy to blog. We once lived in Nashville. I'm not a city gal, but I did enjoy Nashville. If I were to live in that area again though I would want to relocate to Franklin, TN. Have you been there? It's an incredible smaller town. ♥

I visited Nashville a few years ago, I chose it for my graduation gift and our family went there for a week. It was a blast! I just went dress shopping with my friend who is getting married next May. There are so many choices out there and we had a wonderful time. Have fun with Bree!

I visited Nashville in 1998 and loved it - we had friends there (they moved to Connecticutt for Uni later). I know what you mean about moving kicking and screaming - leaving the UK Dec 1998 I felt just like this and struggled to embrace the NZ culture - we may all speak English here but there is a big cultural difference to the UK and of course winter is summer and summer is winter...and now I am loving it, embracing it - but my heart will always, always hold on to it's English roots.

I had no idea Nashville was so diverse! I need to scope it out. You know I'm always on the lookout for a place with 4 seasons. lol

So....has Bree found THE dress?

Have a great time dress shopping. I love your Nashville post, and fondly remember a city (Charlotte, NC) that I have similar feelings about.

I've spent a little bit of time in Nashville, just visiting, and loved it there. I have often been told I am just a frustrated country singer!! Wish I could really belt it out like I want to!
