A NICE (BUT COLD) WEDNESDAY

Brrrrr...it was cold and oh so windy all day today! Wow...are we still in Florida?! It was gorgeous to look out, but no way did either of us want to play tennis this morning as planned. I was supposed to play at 9AM and George's match was at 10AM. When even my Canadian friend said it was too cold, I knew it was TOO COLD! One of the girls I play tennis with invited me over for cappuccino and to see some of her art. I've known her for about six months now and never even knew she painted. She never mentioned it until at the New Year's Eve party. To say I was impressed is an under statement! She does incredible paintings. It was a fun visit. After working so hard around the house lately, it was nice to spend some time just enjoying myself. Once back home, I got right back into the organizing mode and did a few more things.

This afternoon George and I decided on the spur of the moment to go to an afternoon movie. We saw P.S. I Love You. Wow! We both loved it. It just proves that the critics don't know everything. I loved every single moment of it. I don't want to tell you too much, but its about a young widow that discovers that her late husband has left her 10 messages intended to help ease her pain and start a new life. You can go here to watch a preview. I thought it was very, very good. It stars Hilary Swank, Gerard Butler (I'm in love...I thought he was dreamy), Harry Connick, Jr., Kathy Bates and Lisa Kudrow. I thought it might be a "chick flick" but George offered to go with me and there were lots of guys of all ages there to see it too. Afterwards we stopped and shared a pizza and had a glass of wine. I love this life of retirement when you can go out on a Wednesday night and not worry about tomorrow. LOL

Hugs!

Amanda and her boyfriend saw it last friday and she didn't like it which I couldn't believe! I still want to see it! I think it may just not be a teenager type movie?
Enjoy the chilly weather!

So it is cold in Florida? We lived in Pensacola in 1972-73. It hadn't snowed in Pensacola for twenty years they said, but it snowed that year! They blamed us for bringing it from the North.

It was so cold and WINDY here yesterday that I had to hang on to my grocery cart or it would have landed in the next county. Then when I put gas in the van, I ran into the "Turkey Hill" to pay and the wind blew me in the door. The people behind the counter stared at me like I had blown in from another planet! Ha! Ha! He said, "Power Ball Ticket?" I thought "Why? So I can move to Florida?"

I saw on the news this morning that fruit and vegetable growers in Florida are really worried about this cold weather. I so hope they don't lose their crops this year.

Kat - Please feel free to use any of the cartoons I post on my blog. I just get them off of the internet anyway...and when it comes to dieting - there are some really funny ones out there!

Sounds like a wonderful day! It's been very cold here too--late yesterday afternoon I had to get Gary to bring in my Sago Palms because it was getting so cold and went down to 17 degrees last night! Brrrr!

I agree with Sandi---take pictures of your friend's artwork (if she doesn't object) and post it! Someone may be interested in purchasing! You can be an art Broker!!! ;-)

I've wanted to see that movie ever since I saw the previews! Sounds great!

Hope you have a good day today! I'm spending the day working my bootie off taking down "Christmas".

Much love!

I'm so glad you recommened this movie...my husband and I wanted to have a date soon without the kids, but I didn't think there were any good movies out right now...this one sounds wonderful! (And we both love Harry Connick Jr.!)

I was going to gently tease you about it being cold...like because you live in Florida, maybe dropping below 50 made you Floridians teeth chatter...heeheee...until you said your Canadian friend was cold!
So now I won't! ;)

Seriously, I loved reading this and catching up with the two posts below. What wonderful New Year's Eve photos! It looks like so much fun and you look beautiful! :)

Since we are in the fruit and veggie business and depend on Fla. for some of our "stuff", the cold might be a problem. Hope you guys have warmer weather soon. Oh and I like your new banner, so pretty.....

OOH, I have wanted to see that movie. I think I will, now. Yes, it is COLD here, too! And I do not like it. However, I got a hot chocolate maker for Christmas and it sure has been nice! I'm not a coffee drinker, but love a good cup of hot CHOCOLATE!

That's funny that you commented about the cold weather. It's about 20 in Michigan and we're bummed because it's supposed to get to 50 on Saturday. I love the cold weather and snow and it'll all be melted by next week. :(
Thanks for the movie recommendation.
I don't think the critics ever get it right either.

Brrrrr... we're cold here, too. But I kinda like it. Just as long as it doesn't last more than a month or so. Now I HAVE to see that movie. I've heard some great things about it. Maybe a good excuse for a date night, huh?
