JUST WHAT I NEED.....

Some days it's just so hard to make myself walk away from the computer. Wouldn't it be nice to have your stove and washer so close by?! LOL

Is there a REAL Blogoholic Anonymous? If so, I will stand and say "Hi, I'm Kat and I have a problem"!

CAN I HEAR AN AMEN?!

I'M SO TIRED

GROSS!

On the way to church on Sunday, I pulled down the sun visor to look into the mirror to apply fresh lipstick and what did I see? A chin hair? Gross! Now, I've looked in the mirror hundreds of times and haven't seen it. I'm not kidding! Stop laughing! Why didn't somebody tell me?!

HANDS

GRANDMA'S HANDS

Grandma, some ninety plus years, sat feebly on the patio bench.
She didn't move, just sat with her head down staring at her hands.
When I sat down beside her she didn't acknowledge my presence and the
longer I sat I wondered if she was OK.

Finally, not really wanting to disturb her but wanting to check on her at the same time, I asked her if she was OK. She raised her head and looked at me and smiled.
"Yes, I'm fine, thank you for asking," she said in a clear voice strong.

"I didn't mean to disturb you, grandma, but you were just sitting here staring at your hands and I wanted to make sure you were OK," I explained to her.

"Have you ever looked at your hands," she asked.
"I mean really looked at your hands?"

I slowly opened my hands and stared down at them. I turned them over, palms up and then palms down. No, I guess I had never really looked at my hands as I tried to figure out the point she was making.

Grandma smiled and related this story:

"Stop and think for a moment about the hands you have, how they have served you well throughout your years. These hands, though wrinkled shriveled and weak have been the tools I have used all my life to reach out and grab and embrace life. They braced and caught my fall when as a toddler I crashed upon the floor. They put food in my mouth and clothes on my back. As a child, my mother taught me to fold them in prayer.They tied my shoes and pulled on my boots. They held my husband and wiped my tears when he went off to war. "They have been dirty, scraped and raw, swollen and bent. They were uneasy and clumsy when I tried to hold my newborn son. Decorated with my wedding band they showed the world that I was married and loved someone special. They wrote my letters to him and trembled and shook when I buried my parents and spouse. They have held my children and grandchildren, consoled neighbors, and shook in fists of anger when I didn't understand. They have covered my face, combed my hair, and washed and cleansed the rest of my body. They have been sticky and wet, bent and broken,dried and raw. And to this day when not much of anything else of me works real well these hands hold me up, lay me down, and again continue to fold in prayer. These hands are the mark of where I've been and the ruggedness of life. But more importantly it will be these hands that God will reach out and take when he leads me home. And with my hands He will lift me to His side and there I will use these hands to touch the face of Christ."

I will never look at my hands the same again. But I remember God reached out and took my grandma's hands and led her home.

When my hands are hurt or sore or when I stroke the face of my children and husband I think of grandma. I know she has been stroked and caressed and held by the hands of God.

I, too, want to touch the face of God and feel His hands upon my face.

When you receive this, say a prayer for the person who sent it to you, and watch God's answer to prayer work in your life.

Let's continue praying for one another.

Passing this on to anyone you consider a friend will Bless you both. Passing this on to one, not yet considered a friend, is something Christ would do.

Many of you have asked about how the cyst on my finger is doing. It's getting a tiny bit better every day. Praise God! Between what the dermatologist did and the aloe vera I've been using, I think it's healing, although slowly. I'm hoping no surgery will be needed .

Thank you Lord for my hands.

A NICE SUNDAY

4 amigos - us with Jack and Linda
The Birthday Girl! Isn't she pretty? She doesn't look 40!

It's sure good to be home. I love taking trips, but there truly is "no place like home".

Church was wonderful this morning. I'm so glad we didn't sleep in like I wanted to. After church, I made us some yummy BLTs and then spent the whole afternoon getting caught up (almost) on the laundry and my blog reading. Tonight we attended a party at our favorite mexican restaurant for our misister's wife, Cindy, who turned 40 today. It was lots of fun. We are so blessed with our church family.

AWWWW....HOME

Sunsets are incredible in Marco
The waterfall in front of our hotel...Marco Island Marriott

The beach is covered in shells

lots and lots of shells.....
We walked down to the very end of the island....the farthest southern tip of land on Florida's west coast.

A mermaid sculpture on the edge of the beach behind the Marriott

Bob and Jennifer at The Snook Inn restaurant. We had dinner here one night and lunch another day.

The Snook Inn is one of our favorites and we go every time we visit. We love the fried grouper sandwiches and the coconut shrimp. Yummy!

Snook Inn doesn't look fancy, but it's fun and the food is good.

We had a great time. It's always fun to be with Bob and Jennifer. It was a great trip, but as always, it's good to be home. Miss Daisy stayed with our friends, Jeanette and Garrett, and was so excited to see us and we were excited to see her. Awwww...home!

KINDNESS

What a nice surprise! Jennifer at Zaankali's Adventures awarded me this very sweet and special award. Thank you so much Jennifer for kindly thinking of me!

I'd like to pass this on to:

JEEPERS THAT'S COLD!

Oh, there's happiness in our house tonight. The New York Giants won and are going to the Super Bowl. Not that I understand one thing about it or care really since I don't know "nuttin" about football. But boy is George happy!

I thought I was nuts to play tennis this afternoon in the cold - 44 degrees. Okay, I can hear my northern friends snickering. Stop it. 44 is cold to me! But it didn't stop me. Thank you very much. I just put on forty-two layers and played. Lots of fun actually.

But, when I heard about the game tonight in Green Bay and how cold it was, I had to just go check it out for a few minutes. Guys are nuts. It was like 2 below zero with a wind chill factor of something like 30 below. Can you imagine how it felt to fall on the ground? No way Jose' !

IT'S GOOD TO BE ME!

Sandi at Holding Patterns and Annie at My Life As Annie have tagged me with a new meme "It's Good To Be Me". And it is. Truly. I love reading and doing memes although sometimes it's hard to come up with new things to list, but this one was easy as pie. Why...because I have so many things I'm thankful for and I count my blessings everyday! I took the whole morning time to go through my photos to add to my list. Not necessarily just for this meme, but because I love photos and they bring back such wonderful memories. Anyone who knows me, knows I love photos. I saw this quote recently and loved it. It's my personal motto.

"A Birth Certificate shows that we were born

A Death Certificate shows that we died

Pictures show that we lived!"

IT'S GOOD TO BE ME

1. MY FAITH

It's good to be me because I know God holds me (and you) in the palm of His hand and that he loves me unconditionally.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
2. MY HUSBAND
It's good to be me because I'm married to the best man. We celebrate our 30th anniversary in March. He's not just my husband and lover, but my best friend.
I included this photo since we hardly ever dress up here in the sunshine state. LOL
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
3. MY FAMILY

It's good to be me because of my family. There's already 18 of us in our immediate family. We have 19 when Bree's boyfriend is with us. We all are happy and heathly and we love each other. What more could a girl ask for?

(We make a big crowd when we go out to eat together. We love watching George's face when he gets the bill. LOL)

Bet aka "Other Mother", my Mom, my aunt Sherry and me

My whole family is wonderful, especially these three ladies who show me so much love.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
4. MY MOM
It's good to be me because I still have my sweet Mom. We have the best relationship. She's not just my Mom, but my friend too.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

5. MY FRIENDS

It's good to be me because I have, without a doubt, some of the best friends any girl could ask for!

We're not in our tennis clothes, but these are just a few of my tennis buddies.

Just a few of my "Tuesday Lunch Bunch"...sometimes there are only 4 of us and sometimes there are 20.

All my Stein Mart Boutique friends.

A group of us in the Women's Group from church.

Here's just some of those bloggers I've met in "real life". We call ourselves The "B" Club aka BEAUTIFUL BABBLING BOISTEROUS BLOGGING BABES. L-R Rhoda, Tracey, Me, Sandi, Tonja, Jill and Dianne. (We missed you that day Jean.)

And last, but certainly not least, all of you that I've met here in "The Land of Blog". What a blessings it is to call you friend.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
6. MY HOME
It's good to be me because I have a beautiful home in a place we call "Paradise". We can ride our bikes or golfcart to visit friends, grocery shop, dine at wonderful restaurants, play tennis and golf, exercise, etc. We love our home and our community and our neighbors.
Home Sweet Home
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
7. MY DOG
It's good to be me because I (actually we) have the sweetest dog EVER! She brings such joy into our lives.
Miss Daisy

8. MY HEALTH
It's good to be me because although I had a hellish rough year in 2006, with God's power, prayers of so many, and the help of my family, I'm back to health and doing all I want to do.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer, but it was caught very early (thanks to digital mammography) and my lesion was very small (the size of a tiny BB). I did not have to take chemo (Thank you Lord), but I did radiation for 5 days a week for 6 weeks. This photo was taken on the day of my last treatment. Dr. "B" and her staff were incredible. I look pretty tired here, but oh was I happy!

I graduated!

This year I was able to walk in Breast Cancer Walk and it was thrilling to stand under a balloon canapy of survivors!

Then..... Two months after finishing radiation, I fell and did this:

I broke both the tibia and fibula in my right leg just above my ankle. A plate and 7 screws on one side and two pins on the other side. Dr. "F" did a wonderful job of putting me back together.

Because of my lymph node incision from the breast cancer, I couldn't use crutches, so this was my mode of transportation.

I could hop around using a walker too, but I couldn't put my foot down, but that didn't stop me from enjoying my birthday.

Barbara, Jeanette and Carol were wonderful about getting me out. On this day, of course, I didn't play golf, but I went along for the fun and drove the cart with my "good" foot.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sooooo....as you can see. I'm a lucky, lucky girl.
It's good to be me!!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'd like to tag all The "B" Club girls to do this too. Count your blessings!
Hugs!
