IT'S NOT EASY

Taking a blog vacation isn't as easy as I thought it would be.

I miss everyone terribly.

I'LL BE BACK SOON

I hate to do this...I r-e-a-l-l-y hate to do this...but I need to take a little break from blogging. Every once in awhile I look up from my computer and see LOTS of "stuff" that needs my attention and yet I keep putting it off. Just so I can blog. You understand, I'm quite sure.

Sooooo....I'm going to be a good little girl and get to work. Plus, my Mom and Aunt are coming on Monday afternoon. Oh, and I was notified that three different groups of ladies will be visiting my yard on Tuesday at three different times to look things over for the Garden Club landscape award thingee. ??? I'm not holding my breath to win or anything...that's for sure. But I do want to spiffy things up a bit. Speaking of my yard, the photo above is one of my "knockout" roses that I took tonight. The color is so yummy. (The photo is clickable.)

Anyway, that's why I'm taking a little break, but I'll be back soon. Knowing me, and I do, I'll probably sneak in a few visits between chores. LOL
~~~~~~
Oh....I got the haircut. The jury is still out on whether I like it or not. I never can tell until I "mess" with it myself. We'll see after I wash it and style it myself tomorrow morning before church.
I can't believe I'm showing this, but I promised I would. Here's a really bad photo I took myself...in the car. It's hard to take a photo of yourself I learned. And look at that crazy expression?! I'm feeling self conscious taking a photo of myself and at the last second I was thinking "do I smile or not?". It looks like a cross between smiling and not smiling. LOL And why, oh why, didn't I put on fresh lipstick? Oh well.....
~~~~~~

Here I sit (again) when I have lots of "stuff " to do....so

ta ta for now....

Kat

A HAPPY THOUGHT

I don't know about you, but I'm happy it's Friday. This has been a busy and tiring week for me. All the yardwork (and watering...gosh, that takes a lot of time) has worn me out. Everything is looking good though and surprise surprise - the garden club has nominated our yard for an award. I doubt very much we'll win, but it's always nice to get recognition for hard work.

Tonight we went to a wine tasting with our close friends, Dick and Linda. It was a lot of fun. I forgot my camera (?!), but took one shot with my iPhone.
~~~~~~
My Mom and Aunt will be coming for a visit on Monday. Can't wait to see them.
~~~~~~

Thanks for all your comments and suggestions to the all important question on my post yesterday about my haircut tomorrow. LOL I'm still not sure what I'll do. I'll decide after I show the photo of the Twiggy cut to the girl who does my hair and see what she says. Bree said she liked the cut a lot, but for me to be careful that I don't end up with a Carol Brady look. LOL
~~~~~~
Have a wonderful weekend!
WHAT DO YOU THINK?
As I mentioned in my last post, I'd love to have a new easier hairstyle...one that isn't so "fixed". I ran across this photo. I think the haircut is cute. What do you think? Be honest. Do you think it's a good one for me? My hair appointment is on Saturday.
By the way...do you know who that is?
If you guessed Twiggy, you're right. Speaking of Twiggy, I'd sure love to know how she's remained "twig like" all her life! Warning! Whining ahead. This DAMN darn menopause is kicking my butt. I can not seem to take weight off like I used to. I'm always on the go. I play tennis 2-3 days a week, I ride my bike daily (30 miles in the last 2 days), I've doing yardwork, I go to the gym AND I'm watching what I eat. It's so frustrating!
Sorry for the venting. I got off track...back to the question...should I try this haircut? I'm also thinking I might need/want more highlights or low lights??? It seems lately it's too much of one color...too golden? Gosh, it's hard to describe haircolor..... Anyhoo, I'd love your opinion.
Kat
DON'T GIVE UP ON ME
Where does the time go? Life has been so busy lately. Each day I think I'm gonna have some time to spend reading blogs and maybe, just maybe, get caught up. It never happens. Frustrating, but I'm so thankful my life is busy and fun. If I haven't stopped by for a visit in a few days, bear with me. I'll be by soon. (Fingers crossed.)
Today George and I had appointments at two places that might be a possibility for the wedding. I'm asking lots of questions and taking notes. We also managed to get in 18 miles on our bikes. The weather has been incredible...perfect for riding.
~~~~~~
What a nice surprise!

I received the Cute's Blogger Award from Angela at Love Being A Nonny.

Here are the rules:

List 10 UNCUTE things about yourself!!

This is gonna be hard since everything on Angela's list could be on mine. Every single thing! I'm not kidding either. Okay, here goes:
1.I have a uncontrollable sweet tooth.
2.I buy too many purses and shoes. Is there really too many though?
3.My right ankle is a bit larger due to the "hardware" (plate, screws, pins, etc.) necessary to put me back together after my bad fall 3 years ago.
4.I talk too much! Remember the doll "Chatty Cathy"? That's me.
5.I rush around too much and usually end of getting hurt...I run into a wall or cut my finger or hit my head, etc. I need to slow down.
6. I'm never satisfied with my nails. I want a french manicure most of the time, but as soon as I see someone with a pretty color, I want to change. Of course, as soon as I do, I want to change again.
7. My hair always looks "fixed"...I need a cute messy style. Any suggestions?
8. I don't like my legs, so I rarely wear shorts.
9.I hate 'em, but I have a few age spots on my hands. Help!
10. I want a flat tummy, but it's not happening.... (see #1)

I want to pass this award on to a sweet cutie pie ~ Betty Jo at Digi Scribbles.

Thanks Angela for the award. I'm honored you thought of me.

Hugs and kisses,
Kat

RED, PURPLE AND WHITE

Well, we rode our bikes and got our $tarbuck$ this morning...just like I wanted. Do you ever wake up with a plan? Really? Me too! I woke up this morning and the first thing I thought was "I want me some $tarbuck$." When we got home, I got started on planters in the backyard.

And just like I did in the front yard (like I mentioned in this post), my colors are red, purple and white. In the backyard, my purple lantana from last year is still doing well. It's heathly, but not blooming as much, but I know it will once I give it a good shot of fertilizer.

I planted three pots like this. Two go on the tables between our lounge chairs by the pool and....

one goes on the table between two chairs on the other side of the pool. (That's purple lantana behind the chairs...it's hard to see, but they'll be beautiful in just a bit after the fertilizer begins to work.
My red "knock out" roses are doing so well and my ferns are taking over. I really need to thin them out a bit. As you can see, I have two planters by the pool that match the ones I have out by my front door so I planted the same flowers in them. I love the way they turned out.

~~~~~~
I watered everything really well this morning, but the good Lord gave everything lots of water tonight. We got a really good shower.
Thank you Lord!
Hugs and kisses,
Kat
I NEED COFFEE
And not just any coffee. This morning is a Starbuck$ morning. Ya know what I mean?
Yesterday I worked in the back yard planting flowers and I'm not finished. It was a replay of last week. I rode my bike up to the courts and played tennis, then rode my bike back home and worked in the yard. I was in bed by 10:30. I know...that's late for a lot of you, but early for me. I'm usually a night owl. I need to finish the yardwork this morning before I shower and go to the Tuesday Lunch Bunch.
But first things first...coffee. We're riding our bikes up the the Starbuck$ in the village. Sometimes there's just nothing like a good cup of coffee to get you started.
~~~~~~
Have a good day...do something that makes you happy.

Kat

DON'T MAKE ME GET UP

Everyone here in our house is tired tonight. Really really tired. We made it through the weekend, but we're all beat. Our plans for the night....snuggling on the couch together and not moving. Dinner just might be some microwave popcorn. That's IF I can drag myself up for the 2-1/2 minutes it takes. Maybe we'll flip a coin to see who has to do it.

Hugs and kisses,
Kat

AND I WANT A COOL CAPE TOO

I keep thinking "I've got to have some time to rest", but there's no rest for the weary. I've had to pull out all the stops and pretend I'm superwoman. Afterall, there's things that must be done. You know the feeling...I know you do. Because I think we all have to be superwoman sometimes, right?

Here's just part of my day:

George and I started looking at places for Bree's wedding. We found one we both love, but it's ultimately Bree and Jay's decision. I want to have a lot of choices and info ready for them when they come next month. Wow...these things take time. It's fun though.

I started another blog for planning the wedding so that I can post photos, videos, idea, etc. for Bree and Jay to review. That took some time today since I also had quite a bit to add.

I'm responsible for refreshments at church tomorrow so I had to grocery shop and then prepare everything....two different kinds of brownies, a glaced vanilla pound cake, lemonade and fresh fruit.

I'm modeling tomorrow to benefit the cancer society so I had to go in for my fitting. I'm not real thrilled with some of the things I'm supposed to model. Oh well, it's for a great cause.

I managed to get a quick manicure. After two days of working in the yard, I needed one.

Laundry. Lots of it.

Yada...Yada...Yada. There's more, but I'm boring myself and I'm sleepy.

This superwoman wants a new uniform................and a cool cape too, but I'll settle for my jammies right now. Night night!

Hugs and kisses,
Kat

So tired I almost forgot about this special award given to me by sweet friend Barbara at Purple Goat Lady.
Isn't it cute? I think so.
Thanks Barbara!

POOPED!

Oh boy, I'm pooped! I worked in the yard for a few hours this morning, then rode my bike up to the tennis court and played 3 sets of tennis, rode my bike home and then finished planting flowers just in time to take a shower and get dressed before we went out to dinner with our friends, Dick and Linda. I'm exhausted !

Look how pretty my planters are though. There's two actually by the front steps.

Ignore the black hose pipe...I left it out because I know I'll need to water everything again in the morning.

It's hard to tell, but I planted yellow lantana on the back row and purple verbena in the front on each side by the front door.
Miss Daisy wasn't impressed, but doesn't she look pretty sitting in front of the new plants?
It's hard to tell, but this flower bed is rather large on the corner of our driveway and the street. I planted 20 yellow lantana and 10 tall red pentas.

Just look at those tired eyes! Yawning....off to bed...night night!

You too Miss Daisy...it's night night time.

Hugs and kisses,
Kat

YOU'RE AWESOME

Oh, yes YOU are!

Thanks so much for all the comments on my IT'S KINDA WEIRD post a few days ago. Almost 50 of you shared your feelings. I was pleased and a little surprised that so many of us feel the same. Did you read everyone's comments? I don't know about you, but it made me feel better.

~~~~~~
Gotta go...
I bought so many flowers/plants, bags of soil and bags of mulch yesterday that I had to have it all delivered. I figured it was worth the $20 delivery charge instead of making numerous trips and then having to clean out the car. LOL
Soooo... today I will be outside, on my knees and playing in the dirt. And while I'm on my knees, I'll be sending up prayers for all of YOU. Have a wonderful day sweet friends.
Hugs and kisses,
Kat
THE RETURN OF THE BEATLES
FUN, FUN, FUN!
A Beatles Tribute Band “The Return” performed last night in the village. My pics and video aren't the best, but you can go to their website to see more. What a great band. They personify the original Beatles in every way. They sound, look and act like the Fab Four.
Everyone just brought a blanket or a chair and we all gathered on the grassy area in the center of the village. It was a great night to be outside, surrounded by friends.
Every song just made us want to sing along! Sooooo many songs and somehow we knew the words. Hmmmm...
Hugs and kisses,
Kat
IT'S KINDA WEIRD....
Here's what's on my mind tonight....
None of my friends "in real life" blog. Not one single friend. And they know I do, but they're still not really interested....in doing one themselves or reading mine. Now, don't get the wrong idea. They're not mean or ugly about it. They're just uninterested. They don't "get" blogging. They don't really say it, but I think that they think that it's kinda odd to be communicating with people you don't even know. They have no idea how blogging brings us together. How we become a "family" of sorts. How we care about each other. How we pray for each other. How we encourage each other. How we learn from each other. And so much more.
~~~
And I don't know how to make them understand...or even if I should try...so I don't.
~~~
How about your friends?
~~~
I have a couple of family members who blog though, so that's how/why I got started.
And I have quite a few family members who read my blog (and I know they do because they mention it from time to time), but they rarely, if ever, comment. Weird.
~~~
What about your family?
Hugs and kisses,
Kat
(BTW...I don't care what others think. I enjoy blogging. I appreciate your friendship and your comments. I'd much rather be communicating and learning and building friendships than sitting in front of the "boob tube".)
YUCK
Why is it that Monday mornings are always the ones that I'm sleeping soooo well...all snuggled in and happy...having a good dream...and then the darn alarm clock goes off...and I realize I've GOT to get up? It seems I never have that feeling on Saturdays when I CAN sleep in. Are Mondays that way for you too?
And now that I'm up, I'm feeling the aches from all our bike riding this weekend. We got in about 36 miles, but my body would argue and tell you it was 50. That's because yesterday the wind coming off the bay made it REALLY REALLY hard to pedal. It didn't matter which way we turned, it seemed the wind was always in our face. Pedaling into the wind is HARD.
Okay..enough venting this morning.... I'm up now and I'm gonna make it a good day. (Do you hear that muscles?) I've got tennis in about an hour (if the rain holds off), so maybe that will loosen me up again.
Happy Monday!
Hugs and kisses,
Kat
(edited to add: No tennis! Double Yuck! I got dressed and drove to the tennis courts, but the rain started before we could open the can of balls. It's a dark and very dreary rainy gloomy awful Monday here in the Sunshine State. I WILL NOT let it get the best of me though. I'm heading to the gym. AND...maybe an afternoon nap will work it's way into my plans today. Smiling big!)
TEARS OF GRATITUDE
What a beautiful Easter Day we are blessed with! Just gorgeous!
As I sat in church this morning and looked upon the cross, my eyes filled with tears unexpectedly. I was overcome with the knowledge of His sacrifices for me. And for you.
~~~~~~

It’s a different Easter for us this year. None of our family is here with us. No little ones running about. No hiding of eggs. No chocolate bunnies. No ham and all the trimmings. Just the two of us. We’re celebrating tonight with our friends Jack and Linda, but today, we’re taking a extra long bike ride and we'll enjoy this gorgeous day together. Just the two of us. Kinda sad, but also kinda nice. (smile)

~~~~~~
HAPPY EASTER TO YOU!
I hope YOUR day is filled with family, friends, good food, chocolate bunnies and lots of memory making moments.
Hugs & Kisses!
A BUNNY TAIL…I MEAN TALE
I opened my refrigerator this morning and saw a bunny sitting on one of the shelves.
"What are you doing in there?" I asked.
referbunny The bunny replied:
"This is a Westinghouse, isn't it?"
“Actually yes” I replied
"Well," the rabbit said, "I'm westing."
WISHING YOU A “WESTFUL” WEEKEND.
HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!
Hugs & Kisses!
