AND THE SAD THING IS....

It's the truth!

I ALWAYS take my hand held battery operated fan with me e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e I go and when we travel by car I take my small electric fan in with me. It's almost impossible for me to shower, get dressed, blow my hair dry, etc. without a fan. Last week at Lunch Bunch, one of the girls asked to use my fan...she knew I had it nearby. LOL
~~~~~~
It's warm and muggy here today. George, Miss Daisy and I got in a good walk before the rain started though.
HAPPY SATURDAY!
(edited to add: "Other Mother" sent me this cartoon in a note I received today. She said "Does this cartoon remind you of anyone you know? Hehehe". Hmmmmm....I guess she remembers last weekend when I had my fan blowing on me the whole time we were playing games while everyone else was bundled up and cold.)
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO ME!
Three years ago today my life forever changed. I heard those awful words BREAST CANCER. It might seem silly to celebrate this day, but hey I'm here and I'm healthy and I'm happy. Thank you God. For each.and.every.single.day.
I'm a survivor!
And that is worth celebrating. With chocolate, of course.
TWO THINGS THAT DRIVE ME CRAZY
"Only two" you ask? Oh, there's lots of things that drive me crazy, but let's just focus on two today. LOL
#1
Oh.My.Word! I'm so sore tonight. I've increased my walks and loving it...and so does Miss Daisy. Our wonderful weather makes me/us want to stay outside as much as possible. This afternoon George and I took an extra long bike ride too.
But...I sat at the computer for awhile this afternoon and when I stood up, I couldn't hardly walk. I look so funny hobbling around. NO, I did not take a picture!!!
Let's face it.... I'm middle aged. sigh!
~~~~~~

#2

I'm always always always behind in my blog reading. I can't seem to stay on top of reading all of my favorite blogs AND leave comments. It's nuts! But I do read them all when I can even if I can't always comment. I'm trying...I really am...but I can't stay on the computer....

Life is too good to miss.
~~~~~~
Sooooooo....what's driving you crazy today?
GOD IS GOOD
I had my routine appointment with my breast cancer surgeon this afternoon (I see him every 6 months)...all is good. Thank you Lord!
My mammogram is scheduled for June. Have you scheduled yours? Are you doing your self exams? I hope so. These two simple things can save your life.
MY WALKING PARTNER
We have gorgeous weather today...perfect for walking. Miss Daisy loves to walk, so she's a great walking partner.
(Can you tell I just woke up and I'm not wearing much makeup so I'm "hiding" behind my sunglasses?)
TUESDAY FUN
If you know me at all, you know I always take my camera e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e. I love photos. I love having photos to remind me of where I've been and what I've done. I just wish I could do more with photos than crop...although I do LOVE that feature. The older I get, the more I want to crop. LOL And the older I get, the more things I want to be able to remove from a photo.
~~~~~~

Brrrrr....it's chilly here today. It's gorgeous though. The Tuesday Lunch Bunch met at The Tommy Bahama Cafe. I think there was 13 of us today. Yummy, but expensive. I can't believe I didn't take a photo! My camera was in my purse so I have no excuse.

~~~~~~
A friend of mine (another breast cancer survivor) e-mailed this to me this morning:
THE ARTFULL BRAS PROJECT
Members of Quilters of South Carolina have created one-of-a-kind bras for Breast Cancer Awareness. The exhibit consists of fifty original works of art which are unique, entertaining, humorous, and beautiful to make the public aware of breast cancer, to memorialize those lost to the disease, and to honor survivors.
This exhibit will tour SC until Oct '09 at which time individual Artfull Bras will be auctioned and the proceeds donated to the Best Chance Network, a program to provide care and treatment of uninsured women across the state who are diagnosed with breast and cervical cancer.
Here's just a few of them. Very creative and I love the names too. If you'd like to see more, click here.
" BRA FROM HELL"
" MONKEY BUSINESS"
" STILL IN BLOOM"
" LOOK AT THEM MELONS"
"FOR THOSE WHO SERVED"
~~~~~~
Life has been crazy busy lately and I've missed my blog reading. I'm hoping to get to visit some of your blogs today.

RECAP OF MY TRIP

I had a wonderful time, but gosh it's good to be home!

Here's a re-cap of my trip:

Do you remember seeing the clowns at the circus ride into the tent in a tiny car and being amazed at how many clowns fit in one tiny car? Well...I drive a small 4 seater convertible and that's about how we looked driving to Atlanta once I picked up Mom, my sister Karen and Bet aka "Other Mother" on Friday. Plus, we couldn't fit all our luggage in the trunk so some of it had to ride in the car with us. LOL
~~~~~~
We weren't in Sherry house 30 minutes before we kicked off our shoes, poured some wine, gathered some snacks and began playing games.
We played Chicken Foot dominoes until bedtime and then got up on Saturday morning and played again. We stayed in our "jammies" and played all day...stopping only for breakfast and lunch.
Here we are dressed and ready to leave for dinner and the play.
You should have seen me trying to set up my camera using the self timer and then rushing to get back in place before the time is up. (Why didn't someone tell me to powder my shiny red nose?!)
Me with Mom and my sister Karen
~~~~~~
We met 11 of Sherry's girlfriends for dinner and then we saw Food Fight at The 14th Street Playhouse.
Taking place in a women’s only gym, four ladies belt out hysterical song parodies about food, diets,exercise, plastic surgery, and cooking shows.

Food Fight:
A Musical Comedy For Waist Watchers!: This is a brand new musical revue that is sweeping the nation. In gyms, in restaurants, in doctors` offices, and at home... men and women can’t stop talking about this feel good show that thrills and inspires them. Food Fight! is a hilarious and poignant look at the one topic that is constantly on everyone’s minds & tongues: FOOD! Throw in the pleasures and neuroses that come with this universal obsession and you can see why Food Fight! is a surefire recipe for success. Critics are raving and the audiences keep coming back for seconds, treating friends and family to this musical diet.
The reviews in the Saturday morning paper weren't good, so we hoped for the best. You can't always go by the reviews. We really enjoyed it. Lots of good music and the storyline was great. It wasn't as good as some we've seen before, but it was still a lot of fun.
Here's the 16 of us after the show.
~~~~~~
We stayed up late playing more games, eating dessert and laughing. So much fun.
We left after breakfast on Sunday morning and headed back to Columbus. After I took all the girls home, I went to spend the night with Eric and Angela and my grandchildren. While Eric and Angela went out for a "date night", the kids and I went out for pizza and ice cream.
They love to make silly faces when we take pictures.
They really are sweet together....best of friends.
~~~~~~
I stayed until we all met Eric for lunch today and then it was time for me to drive back home. It's always hard to leave them, but we got a good group hug in the parking lot before I left.
~~~~~~
Thank you Lord for time with family.
COLOR ME HAPPY
I'm not home yet, but thought I'd do a quick post while I had a minute.
I had a wonderful time on the Girls Trip to Atlanta and I've got lots of photos to download once I get home tomorrow. This afternoon I arrived at my son's house. I'm babysitting tonight, so Eric and Angela can have a date night.
Color Me Happy! The grandkids and I had a wonderful afternoon of playing games and acting silly. Tonight we went out for pizza and then ice cream, of course. Once we were all home and in our "jammies", we watched Madagascar Escape 2 Africa...very funny! They're all snuggled in their beds now and I'm going to finish my book (Dean Koontz's YOUR HEART BELONG TO ME...it's a good one).
I'll be heading home tomorrow after lunch. I've had fun, but I'm missing George and Miss Daisy...and my bed.
IT'S A FACT
I suck at packing!
I wish I could say I just needed one small bag since I'll only be gone 3 nights. HA! Dream on. I pack everything except the kitchen sink.....
So sad.
I'll be back on Monday. Till then....
AN AWARD AND AN AWESOME VIDEO
I'm feeling better today. I knew it as soon as I opened my eyes this morning. No headache. Yeah! It's a good thing 'cause I've got lots to do today to get ready to leave town tomorrow. Thank you God.
~~~~~~

Jennifer at The Beaufort Lookout AND Bacardi Mama passed along the Honest Scrap award. Thank you so much!

Here's what I need to do:

1. Choose a minimum of 7 blogs that you find brilliant in content or design.

2. Show the 7 winners names and links on your blog, and leave a comment informing them that they were prized with "Honest Scrap." Well, there's no prize, but they can keep the nifty icon.

3. List at least 10 honest things about yourself.

Facts first:

1. I want something sweet after lunch and dinner....every day. Just a small piece (or three) of dark chocolate can do the trick.

2. I have trouble getting rid of shoes, even those that hurt my feet. Why???

3. I'm a freak about laundry. I can't stand having dirty laundry around. I do laundry almost every day.

4. I love bubble baths...and I love to read while I soak surrounded by bubbles.

5. I don't go a-n-y-w-h-e-r-e without lipstick or earrings.

6. I'm learning that the saying "time flies" is really true.

7. I spend way too much time on the computer.

8. It will be 3 years since I found out I had breast cancer on February 27th.

9. My 31st wedding anniversary is March 17th.

10. I'm looking forward to a fun girls trip to Atlanta this weekend with my Mom, sister Karen, aunt Sherry and "Other Mother" (Mom's best friend Bet).

Now for the 7 blogs:

1. Deb at Lavender Chick
2. Joan at Joan's Journeys
3. Carolyn at Harbor Hon
4. Rhoda at Southern Hospitality
5. Rhonda at Scooterblu's Whimsy
6. Jean at What's Up At The Stauffers?
7. DebraK at ~the Bunnies' Bungalow

~~~~~~
This gave me goosebumps. AWESOME!! Great music and message! I found it here.
BROUGHT TO YOU BY THE LETTER "G"
Jill at Jillian, Inc. assigned me the letter "G" in the fun Letter Game.
Here are the rules: If you want to play, leave a comment on this post letting me know and I’ll assign you a letter. You write about ten things you love that begin with your assigned letter, and post it at your place. When people comment on your list, you give them a letter, and the chain will continue.
So here are my 10 favorite "G"s, in no particular order:
1. Feeling loved by God and knowing He holds me (and you) in the palm of His Hand. There is no better feeling in the world.
2. George, the love of my life. My husband, my lover, my "bestest" friend.
3. Grandchildren...we have 9. Every.single.one of them is special to me in their own way. I am truly blessed.
4. Giggles. I love to hear the sound of laughter, but especially giggles. On our way home from Marco on Monday, we stopped for lunch. Two little boys had the giggles at a table next to us. It was impossible not to smile just hearing them. It makes you want to giggle too.
5. Guacamole, but it must be homemade (or made tableside). Give me some with some warm crispy chips and a frozen margarita and "color me happy"!
6. Gucci....especially their sunglasses.
7. Games (surprised you, right? NOT)
8.Google. And all things computer. Including blogging.
9. I'm so blessed to have good girlfriends...in "real life" and here in The Land of Blog. Thanks for your friendship.
10. Ghirardelli chocolate. You didn't think I could make a list of my favorites and not include chocolate did ya?! No way! LOL
Want to play? If so, let me know in your comment and I'll assign you a letter.
STOWAWAY
I came home with a "stowaway"....a very ugly stomach bug. I woke up this morning with a killer sick headache and later "stomach problems". I won't go into details, but let's just say I'm glad to be home in my bed and near my bathroom. Enough said.
I spent basically all day in bed. I'm feeling a bit better tonight, but so darn weak. Luckily I was able to get someone to sub for me tomorrow...I can't even imagine playing tennis on these rubbery legs.
HOME AGAIN
HOME AGAIN...HOME AGAIN...JIGGIDY JIG....
IT'S GOOD TO BE HOME...SO WE STOP EATING LIKE PIGS!!!!!!!!!!!
~~~~~~
We had a wonderful time...we really did, but it's always nice to come home. Miss Daisy was thrilled to see us. George grilled us some yummy burgers tonight and then we had fun playing games with Mom and Sherry.

I'm sad that they have to leave in the morning. I'll see them this next weekend though since we have a girls trip planned to see the play "Food Fight" in Atlanta.

~~~~~~
Thanks for all your sweet comments on my posts about our trip. We stayed so busy that I didn't have time to do any blog reading, but I hope to do a lot of that tomorrow between unpacking, laundry, etc.
