OH, BABY!

We had the best time at a couples baby shower last night for Bree and Jay.

The shower was given by these beautiful girls!  What sweet friends!  I love them all!
Thank you Nikki, Sarah, Nikki, Lisa, Leslie and Amy for loving our girl!

The food was incredible!

Look at the adorable (and useful) diaper cake.

I should have taken photos of the STACKS AND STACKS AND STACKS of gifts.  I think it took three cars to take everything home.

Here's a few photos from Thursday.  (The guys played golf.)

 My sister Kim, me, Sherry, Bree and Mom
We went to dinner at Biaggi's and had a wonderful meal.
Justin Bieber joined us in a photo ;-)  (Well, his look alike, anyway)

After dinner, we went to see THE HELP.  I'm sure most of you have seen it already, but we all wanted to wait to see it with Bree...in Jackson, MS.  That's where the movie takes place.   We all LOVED the movie.

LOVED LOVED LOVED IT!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here's another fun memory from the trip.
When we got back to the hotel on Thursday night, since our rooms were literally right across the hall from each other, we all put on our jammies and I joined the girls in their room for a late night cocktail and some girl time.  George was happy to watch sports in peace in our room ;-)  Sherry gave me a beautiful GRANDMOTHER'S BOOK - fairy tales, poetry, nursery rhymes, songs, activities and recipes.  It's a beautifully illustrated book.  We all had fun seeing what stories, songs and poems we remembered from our childhood.
I can't wait to share it with my grandchildren, including Daven, who will be here (hopefully) in 58 days or less ;-)
Thank you God for family!
And friends.
And the memories of our times together.
A FUN NIGHT AND A FUN WEEKEND PLANNED
Wow, two posts in one day!
Guess who hopped by again?
My sweet facebook and blog friend Sue aka Susie Q @Rabbit Run Cottage and her husband Bill and their beautiful daughter Grace are in town and it was wonderful getting to have dinner together tonight.  We met for the first time in person last February (click here for that post) and it was so nice getting to see them again.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So excited!  We leave in the morning to go see our girl!

6 couples are giving Bree and Jay a couples baby shower on Friday night.  My Mom, Aunt Sherry and sister Kim are arriving tomorrow too.  The guys will play golf while the girls go see THE HELP.  Can't wait to see it.  Bree, Mom and I have read the book and loved it.  I've heard the movie is incredible.  We are all excited about the baby shower.  Our daughter Kim and her husband Mike arrive on Friday.

It's going to be a fun weekend!

A LITTLE MORNING HUMOR AND A NOTE TO SELF

What is a calorie?

Calories are the little creepy crawlies that get into your wardrobe at night and sew your clothes tighter...

MY CLOSET IS INFESTED WITH THE LITTLE BUGGERS

Don't ever go two months without riding my bike again

George rides every day with or without me.  He just passed 5,000 miles.  I'll say that again...5,000 miles

Lately, I have been too busy with de-cluttering, etc. Grrrrr!
That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it ;-)

This morning we rode over to Another Broken Egg on the bay for breakfast.  My "hiney" and pelvic bones are letting me know I haven't ridden in awhile.  It's so much fun and good exercise, so I'm back at it again for sure.

My favorite months for biking are coming up......September and October.  Can't wait.

GOOD MORNING!

Today's gonna be a good day.  I just know it!  I'm asking God to WOW me.  And he always does ;-)

My new favorite thing in the morning.......iced coffee out of my pink breast cancer cup.  I love to add a flavoring.....caramel, hazelnut or vanilla.
Perfect for these hot days of summer and sooo yummy!
I love starting my day off with my coffee and my computer ;-)
Can't wait to see what YOU are doing.

80? NO WAY!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAMA!
You certainly don't look 80!

I hope I have inherited your genes :-)

Mama with her five children
Karen, Mom, Pete, Me, Kim Theresa
Brother-in-law Rusty & my sister Karen, Sister-in-law Dianne & my brother Pete, Mom, Me & George, my sister Kim, my sister Theresa
Somehow (?) the settings on my camera were obviously "off" so the coloring isn't the best, but at least we got some photos of the night.

This one shows Mom reaching in and taking another card/letter out of her LOVE BOX.

A few weeks ago I asked everyone in the family to write a personal hand written card/note/letter to Mom/MeMaw letting her know how much she is loved and to mail them to me along with a photo attached. I mean EVERYONE, even the children.  And they did!  I put them all into a big box and we presented it to her after her birthday dinner.  It was a big hit. Mom was thrilled!

Thank you God for my Mom!

WOW ME

I saw this phrase "somewhere" awhile back and jotted it down.  I've taped it to my bathroom mirror above my sink to remind me.

There IS something good in every single day!

That's something we all need to remember.

A bible study leader once told our class that every morning she asks God "Please WOW me today" and she said He always does.  It might not be something really big, but He always gives us WOWs.  That really impressed me.

Has God WOWED you lately?  I'd love to know.

Watch for the WOWs...they are everywhere.

CHEW ON THIS.....

George always teases me because he says I'm nice to everyone, even people I don't particularly like.

He's from New York.

I'm definitely a southern girl.  We are taught to always be nice.

It's not always easy.

What about you?  Are you a good witch or a bad witch? ;-)

SATURDAY THIS AND THAT

We don't eat big breakfasts.....at home or out.....very often, but today was the day we splurged.  And how!  We drove across the bridge to Mama Clemenza's European Breakfast with our friends Dick and Linda.
We enjoyed every.single.one of the 4,000 plus calories ;-)
 I was too busy eating to take a "before" photo, but here's an "after" photo of when I finally stopped.  There was "NO WAY JOSE" that I could have cleaned my plate.  Do you see how BIG those pancakes were?!  Yowzer!

My order - Coffee and a Mimosa, homemade lemon curd ricotta pancakes served with warm butter-maple syrup and a side of maple glazed bananas.

George's order - A large orange juice with Italian bread French toast with maple glazed sliced bananas and warm caramel sauce.

Color Us Happy!

Look at the cute baby shower invite for Bree and Jay I received today.  I edited out personal info, but thought it was too cute not to share.
I had to chuckle.  Bree's back has been giving her fits lately and the photo seems to show it!  LOL
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What a nice surprise!  Cami @ First Day of My Life awarded me THE VERSATILE BLOGGER award.  Thanks Cami!  I am truly touched.
Cami has a really cute blog, so hop over and say "hi".
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Our Realtor is holding another Open House tomorrow afternoon after church so let's all pray our buyer comes and we get a contract.

As I've mentioned before, the worst part of having an Open House is having to be out of the house with Miss Daisy for 4 looooong hours.  In the heat.  Ugh.  I told our Realtor (who is our good friend) that I would be willing to do an Open House for her at another property while she does ours and she JUMPED at my offer.  LOL  So, now George and Miss Daisy can find something to do while I have fun.  Inside a nice cool beautiful home.  With a book and my iPad.  I'm a smart girl.  wink wink    Actually.....George doesn't seem to mind the heat.  He and Miss Daisy spend the time watching tennis or golf or riding around visiting friends on the golf cart.)

I hope your weekend is fun!

WAITING

Waiting for news, but........

Waiting is HARD!

Like, I've said before, I'm not a good wait-er.

Nothing has happened with the sale of our house......yet.  But I'm working hard to do my part to be ready, so when the good Lord makes it happen, the move will be easy-peasy.

That's my plan.

A girl has to have a plan, right?!

I THINK I DROPPED 5 POUNDS

........on the tennis court this morning.  Seriously.

The heat index was 110

I know, I know........

I'm CRAZY

Don't put on my straight jacket yet though ' cause I'm playing again in the morning ;-)

Not to worry though........we take lots and lots of breaks, drink lots of water and Gatorade and get in the shade when we switch sides.  I think we're pretty much acclimated since we play all year long, but this heat is unbelievable,  so we're being extra careful.  I promise.

And THIS is how I'm staying cool once I get home.  LOL
Are you staying cool?

OUR HEART IS WHAT REALLY MATTERS

It seems to take much longer to put myself together lately.  Hair, makeup, clothes, shoes, jewelry..........

Know what I mean?

It's WORK people!  LOL

I've been complaining to myself lately.......

and then I opened my daily email bible verse this morning and this is what I saw:
"The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."
~ 1 Samuel 16:7

A very timely reminder! ;-)
Our heart is what really matters.

A MARTINI NIGHT

Sometimes a martini (or more) is an absolute must.  And tonight was a good night for martinis, crispy flat bread pizza and a Caesar salad shared with my good friends, Carol and Jeanette.
Cuvee Bistro makes a wonderful Cosmopolitan, by the way!
I'm sure you've heard the old saying....
One Martini
Two Martini
Three Martini
Floor
I didn't have three, but I will be in bed soon ;-)
