THIS AND THAT

Bear with me...this will be a quick and probably disjointed post since I'm hurrying tonight.

Lately I feel like this!

But... I opened my Jesus Calling devotional this morning and got the perfect message.  Just what I needed to read.

Do you have a Jesus Calling devotional book?  If you don't, do yourself a BIG favor and get one.  Unbelievable!

I keep mine right beside my computer.  It's amazing how my daily devotional message seems like it was written just for ME!  Almost every day I feel Jesus really is calling me with a message I need to read.

Today's message:

The world is too much with you, My child.  Your mind leaps from problem to problem to problem, tangling your thoughts in anxious knots.  When you think like that, you leave Me out of your world-view and your mind becomes darkened.  Though I yearn to help, I will not violate your freedom.  I stand silently in the background of your mind, waiting for you to remember that I am with you.

When you turn from your problems to My Presence, your load is immediately lighter.  Circumstances may not have changed, but we carry your burdens together.  Your complusion to "fix" everything gives way to deep, satisfying connection with Me.  Together we can handle whatever this day brings.

Do you have an iPad and/or an iPhone?  If so, did you know that you can change a setting to make it easier to read when you are in direct sunlight?  Nobody told me until yesterday. (thanks Robin!)

Anyway, here's how to do it.  Go to settings - general - accessibility - white on black.  Voila!  The background becomes black with white writing so you can read easily in the sunlight!  Once you're back inside, you can easily switch back.

Why didn't somebody tell me this before?!

I'm leaving in the morning for a long weekend trip.  I'll tell more next week.

My Mom, aunt and sister are coming back with me and will be here all next week!!!!! Fun times ahead, for sure.

Hugs from the beach,
Kat

Also, like the way your blog is looking, so cute!!

Thanks for the devotional! I need to get that book. I told my son about the iPad/iPhone trick and he showed me how to set it so you can just triple click your home button and change between colors. Go to settings, general, accessibility, Triple click home and then click on White on Black then you can just change the settings with the home button instead of going through the settings every time you want to change. Have a great trip! I love your blog. Can't remember how I found you but glad I did. ;o)

He is always ready to step in and help me. And, together, we are an unbeatable team. I know this....I believe this. So why do I keep forgetting it? Thanks for the reminder!

Enjoy your trip! Be careful!

I'm so excited for you to have your mom and aunt with you again. I know those are precious and fun times. I know you like games. Have you tried "Bananagrams"? It's so much fun and on my recent trip to my inlaws my mother in Law loved it. Try it if you have not before. I think you will love it.

You will love having your Mom, sister and Aunt come back with you to visit. What fun you gals will have together!
It is so ironic that a friend of mine read that same message from Jesus Calling this week at our Bible study. She said that it had really spoken to her this week. Thanks for the tip about the iPad/iPhone. I will check it out. Hope you have a safe trip! Enjoy!!! Love & blessings from NC!

When I found your blog years ago I started following you because you wrote about your church, your faith and your God. I googled Sarah Young and found that she went to L'Abri. I found her life to be very interesting too.

I needed that devotional right now in the wee hours of Sunday morning as I lie awake pondering too many heavy things. Thank you so much for sharing it.
