I WON THE BATTLE! (today anyway)

I've had an ongoing battle with the master closet. I must admit I have a LARGE walk-in master closet. It's wonderful with built-ins for everything, even the dirty laundry.

But...you know what happens, right?! The more room you have, the more you fill it up! It's so true.

Anyway, I try to clean it out frequently, but I usually end up keeping more than I should.

Today I decided to get serious with the de-cluttering.
I told myself to stay on track and only keep what I know I will use/wear. And I did good, if I do say so myself. I'm quite pleased with the results.

We have been toying with the idea of putting our house on the market for over a year now and have finally decided to quit talking about it and "just do it". Our real estate market seems to be on the upswing (please God) and this time of the year is good. We love where we live so I know we will stay close by, but we both definitely want something smaller and easier to keep up. We want to travel more and go spend more time with the kids and grandchildren.

So.....it looks like I'll be doing lots more de-cluttering all around the house and garage.

Hugs from the beach,
Kat

Wow, I had no idea ya'll had been thinking about selling. We are happy in our cozy little house even though we've thought about buying a newer home or building but we will have our home paid for this year and that my friend is a great feeling!

XOXO!

So you're really gonna do it? Have fun!

If we go any smaller, we'll have to live in your walk-in closet, hahahahaha!

Great job! My hub's the keeper; I'm the tosser. He doesn't understand how I can toss a blouse rarely worn; I don't understand how he can keep a shirt rarely worn. All these years later, our system now is a bag for what doesn't fit. Yay!

Having less to take care of and more time to spend with grand babies sounds like a great plan!

Good for you. I always keep way more than I should when I do that particular task. You had said last year that you were thinking about selling. Good luck. Anyone would be lucky to have your home. I've only seen it in pictures, but it looks phenominal.

Good for you for all the decluttering! We're getting our house ready to go on the market next year and I've been doing a lot of decluttering also. I've become very good friends with the folks at Goodwill and a few times I've been there twice in one day! We even sold our piano, which was a major piece of furniture that no one used, no one wanted and would be really difficult to move!

Cleaning out a closet is always a good thing! lol
We have been toying with the idea of selling our place as well. Nothing definite yet though. Still trying to figure out where we would go and what we would buy next...sigh

Good for you ~ decluttering your closet and your life! It is hard to start, but the rewards are wonderful. As my husband prepares for retirement {sometime next year perhaps} we are in the midst of evaluating what needs to stay and go in our lives. Good luck to you!

{Your home is lovely and should sell in a minute!}

Good job...I give you a lot of credit. I always have those good intensions, but something just stops me, and I think "I may need that someday". I am a total organizing junkie though. Everything has to have it's place...but it's those places that can get a little over "stuffed". I wish you good luck in selling your home. From the pictures, it's just beautiful, you won't have any trouble even on this market.

Good luck with the de-cluttering! I am on the same mission! We have decided to downsize, even though we still have teens at home! We have two bedrooms that aren't even used and one full bath that just started being used in the last six months! I think it is time for a smaller house and the extra money we get will be used to buy a small place in the mountains of NC.

I must admit it is agonizing for me to get rid of stuff, but I'm trying the buy one new thing, toss one old thing rule for now! We'll see how that works!

I'd like to downsize too!

Good luck on selling your house!

Blogger was not accepting comments yesterday--maybe because of Friday 13th???

Congrats on decluttering. I have just been through that, but the Master of the house has not cooperated. I sent 42 boxes of various sizes and contents to the human society, and swear I could do it all over again. I am not downsizing so much for travel, but my own personal limitations of upkeep as I age.

We are also into simplifying yard work too. Since we have to pay for this, it is quite costly.

Cleaning must be the theme cause I'm back at it in my girls' room.

Blogger tells me that when I try to link to my blog it doesn't exist and it eligible to be taken by anyone...say what????

Hope you have a fabulous day!

Right now we are in a mess here, after moving Adelaide, her furniture and "stuff" home from college. My summer project is going to be cleaning out our basement. I am getting rid of a lot of stuff. I am tired of the clutter! So proud of you for getting all your work done. Love & blessings from NC!
