"You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go..."
~Dr. Seuss

I'm going to Atlanta in the morning with George. For another funeral. The 5th one since November 4th. Actually the 3rd one in less than 2 weeks. This one is for the wife of one of George's really good friends. She was only 61.
Dr. Seuss, that very smart man, is right. We can choose where we go (and how we look at circumstances and how we react).
So... deep breath
I will not go crazy.
I will not go into a depressive funk.
I will go to celebrate the life of a very sweet woman who fought with courage. I will go to support her husband and family and gather with friends.
I will go to celebrate Dawn's new life in heaven.
Hugs,
Kat

Safe travels. I'm so sorry, Kat. Maybe you will get to see some of your children/grandchildren when you are there. That would be a bright spot for you. You and George are in my prayers! Love & blessings from NC!
Prayers to lift you up! Be safe in your travels!
I'm so sorry, Kat. That's just too many funerals. May there be no more for a long, long time.
Y'all be very careful on your trip. So sorry about your friend. Michelle
Great way to view life, Kat! Prayers are being said for you and George and your friend.
Kat, just a note to let you know that I'm praying for you and George. I know what it's like to have one "episode" after another fall into your life. God is indeed in control and we "simply" (the word sounds so easy, but sometimes it's not)need to let Him have what He so wants to give us - peace.
I copied/pasted the first paragraph of your post yesterday about the weather to my facebook and now it's been copied to about 10 other people and on to their own networks. You're making people smile in spite of the trials and sadness you're experiencing. See? God is working through you even when you least expect it!
Praying for our Lord's peace and grace to surround you and George.
Godspeed and Traveling Grace, Sweetpea.
And the Joy of having KNOWN, not the sorrows of having lost.

You are in my thoughts and prayers!! Stay strong my friend ...xo HHL
How sad.... take care, my friend!
Take care and travel safe. Your presence will I'm sure be very soothing.
Oh, you sweet lady... take care of yourself...
Because of whom you believe it, you WILL go in the direction He leads. Even though it's through'the valley of the shadow of death'....HE is with you, He comforts you...
Doesn't just the fact that this is aavailable to us count as a blessing to you? And, the fact that we accept it...nothing else matters.
Godspeed!
Kat, I am so sorry for the loss of another dear friend. Please be safe on your trip. And I hope the celebration of her life, will bring comfort to you.
God Bless!
Joni
I'm just going to ditto what Tonja said because I can't say it better!
Safe travels Kat!
I'm so sorry; you've had too many losses in the past few months. I hope that changes from here on out. Praying for safe travels.

Have a safe trip. Around here it is snow, but I bet the traffic hazzzards where you live are different.
The recent death of a dear friend with whom I could converse about usually controversial subjects like religion and politics, and laughm left to be with Jesus quite unexpectedly.
My fondest memory of my many conversations with her occured one day when I was cleansing her computer of uet another virus. She could bear to tell a friend to quit sending her junk e-mail that was infected.
We were playing a Gaither CD I brought along to give her, that had one of my favorite songs they sing: SITTING AT THE FEET OF JESUS. When it was over we had a discussion of what sitting at the feet ofJesus meant. Being the more conservative I said, I would love to have dialogue with the greatest teacher ever to walk the face of the earth.
She the extraordinary extreme liberal, whose name initials spelled JOY, said, when I get to Heaven, I am going to sit in Jesus lap and hug his neck.
Well, somehow, that is just my picture of here to this very day. She died around Thanksgiving. We used to all eat at for Christmas. I can imagine her at a far more sumptious feast than ours this past Cchristmas.
When a close friend dies, even my parents, this is how I handle grief. There is always at least one great shining moment in their life, or their relationship with you.
Gave a safe trip; we expect to be traveling a short distance in snow tomorrow.
When someone close to me dies, I try fixate on one shining moment in our relationships, and forget the rocks and stones. That moment is overrides any other memory I might have.
It works for me.
Wishing you a safe trip. We all should have such a positive attitude. Thanks for sharing your words.
