Seriously!
How about you?
Our weather has been incredible...very summer-like...so I've been laying by our pool for the last few days. In old swimsuits. Actually they feel and fit pretty good. Maybe it's because I've lost a few pounds, but I suspect it's because they are old and stretched. They are okay for the backyard, but I really need to shop for a few new ones. I am DREADING it.
Swimsuit shopping is hands down my most dreaded shopping experience! Even more than jeans shopping and you know how frustrating THAT can be.
Here's just a few reasons I hate shopping for swimsuits:
I know you have to for sanitary purposes, but trying on suits wearing underwear makes everything look weird. Period.
I hate those protective paper inserts in the suit bottoms. Gives me the "willies" just thinking about it.
The lighting in most dressing rooms is awful.
Ditto on their mirrors.
Swimsuit makers all size their suits differently. Drive me crazy! I don't like have to redress to go out and get more, but I also hate having sales people hanging by the door to help. I wish I had a friend who owned a swimsuit shop that would give me the key so I could go in the middle of the night. Alone ;-)
Oh, and once I finally decide on a few suits, then there's the "fun" of finding a cute cover-up. And believe me, I NEED like to have a cute cover-up. Living in Florida, I've walked behind thousands of people who should never have left home without a cover-up! LOL I've been known to say "Bless her/his heart. She/he must not own a mirror!"
'Cause let me tell you, if they owned a mirror and looked at themselves before they stepped out the door, they would NOT be walking in public without a cover.
I DO own a mirror.
Hugs from the beach,
Kat

It's the most dreaded task ever! I'm often kind of jealous of your lovely weather, but you see, there is one benefit to living in the snow!
My head was nodding up and down through your post .. I can so relate!! ... Pre-accident in the summer I lived in bikini at the beach or poolside. Since then, you are lucky if I venture out in a one piece let alone a bikini.
I have certainly become a cover up gal ... I too have mirrors and some great friends that keep me from fainting from my reflection in a window..lol.. they say i'm hard on myself .. as I'm sure you are on yourself .. Enjoy the warm weather and bathing-suit up my friend!!!Can't wait to read more on your adventures...
I have promised a friend that June we will go shopping for bathing suits ... so I better get sticking with my nutrionist's plan... Happy week-end ..xo HHL
I know exactly what you are talking about. And we have to buy more than one suit because it's not as if you'll only wear it once in a while. We wear one almost every day. I bought a couple last summer at Bealls. Hope they will make it thru this summer, because like everyone else, I'm going to lose weight before I buy another one.
Amen sister. However, someday soon I am planning on enjoying it!
You've got that right sister. Worst thing ever to have to do. Where did you find the one in the picture. I love it. I'm partial to the kind with no straps to avoid tan lines.
That is the one thing for our beach wedding that I have dreaded. This year I have got to find a suit I like.
I need one that shapes, sculpts, minimizes here, and maximizes there, lifts this and flattens that.
In a color that matches my eyes.
Ohhh mercy. Maybe just a new coverup....
I had to laugh at your post. I too, agree on all of the above. So true. It is funny... I say the same thing, "I would rather take a beating than try on a bathing suit." This almost 57 year old body doesn't look like it used to. I do love a suit like the one you showed, so as not to have tan lines. I'm with you, I think a lot of people don't own mirrors when it comes to every day dressing, as well. Good luck finding some nice suits for the summer. Love & blessings from NC!
Oh Kat..
you have me smiling..
and laughing and nodding in agreement!
I too have to find a swimsuit..
but my problem is my "endowment"..
I've never worn a one piece in my life..
and the two pieces are either hideous..or non existent in covering ability..
and shopping for a swimsuit here in the middle of winter is even more hilarious..
oh well.. good luck!!
and don't forget catalogue shopping..
been there/done that..
what a joke!
warmest hugs!!

One year we went to the Bahamas and I realized that a lot of foreigners aren't as concerned about their bodies like we Americans. I saw things I hope I NEVER see again! In the meantime, we're going to Hawaii in June and I've got to make the dreaded shopping trip as well but before that I need to keep on working hard at the gym!
Oooh, I DO like that red one. Spiegel (Speigel?) has some cute ones on line and I think have some that are tummy control...a MUST for me! One time daughter and I went swimsuit shopping and she got so tickled at me trying them on that we both laughed so hard I peeded on myself! Is that TMI!?!?! Anyhoo, if you get a key to a shop at night where you can try on swimsuits, let me know, I'm in for that kind of shopping!

LOLOL!! Fun post, Kat!
This is one thing I miss about not having a pool in the backyard. These days, at our community pool, I wear the coverup, then slither out of it while slinking into the pool. I don't really know what I'm worried about when I see some of those you describe though. :)
At 69, next month, I really don't know why I worry AT ALL!! LOL
I hate it to. I have one but I don't think I have ever worn it. If I had your body, it wouldn't be a problem. Good luck.
Amen.....the dreaded swimsuit shopping trip!!!
I have worn out my comfortable ones from 2 years ago...now I don't know what I will do. I like a tankini cause I can hide some of the muffin top(ha)
I hope that this summer is a better summer for you to lay in the sun beside your pool. Last summer had us all holding our breath when we read your next post wondering what critter slid into your pool that day. All I can say is don't close your eyes while lying beside your pool.
You make me laugh! I agree on every point you make! I hate, hate, hate swim suit shopping! Thankfully, I hardly ever wear mine, so once I buy one it usually lasts for several years. I almost wish they would come back with the suits that covered the body from neck down and only revealed head, hands and feet. ha ha
That one is cute! I saw one on the internet .. tried to find it to show you, but did not save the site.. sorry. It was 1 shoulder, very unique but elegant...as was the price tag!
A lot of women love shoes, but I love swimsuits. Right now I believe that I have at least 10 swimsuits.
I have purchased two off of the Internet, which is even harder to do. One of them looks like a size zero (which I am NOT) It will be great for tanning on the back patio, but it won't make it to the beach.
