IT'S ALL GOOD

YIPPEE!

We've always felt like we live in PARADISE and now it's official....the readers of Southern Living magazine agree.

Our water is just gorgeous!

And our sand is sugar white and it feels like powder between your toes. We don't have many shells (unless you go really really early in the morning) and we're glad. It makes it a joy to walk on the beach.

The Southern Living Magazine’s Readers’ Choice Award goes to Destin for being the number one Best Beach. Destin also placed 10th for the Best Weekend Getaway, ninth for Best City, and third for the Best Family Destination.This is the area’s 14th year racking up honors with the Readers’ Choice awards, with great reviews coming from people who actually visit and fall in love with the area.

Destin’s beaches meander for 24 miles along the coastline....60% of which are protected by law. A safe and beautiful beach environment is always a top priority for our City Council members. I read somewhere recently that we get an astonishing average of 343 sunny days per year! We think our emerald coast is gorgeous and I'm so happy that others agree.

As you can see from this map...we're surrounded by water. I love that. George and I enjoy riding our bikes or taking the golf cart and we can go just about anywhere we want to go, including the beach or bay.

When we bought our first condo years ago as a second "home", I never ever ever thought we'd live here. It's a dream come true to live in a place that feels and looks like paradise and offers so much to do.

A big plus for me has been that so many of my blog friends vacation here, so I've been able to meet them in "real life". That's been fun. I hope you'll visit here too.

How cool is this?

I received this sketch of the Hudson River landing by a Sacramento Bee editorial cartoonist in an e-mail this morning. I love it. As soon as I saw it, the song "He's Got The Whole World In His Hands" came to my mind.

~~~~~~
Yeah, after so many days of really cold weather (for us), our temps were perfect for tennis this morning. Hmmmm....maybe I'll be able to wear my flip flops soon.
A DAY OF FUN IN PENSACOLA WITH BETH
I'm exhausted tonight, but so very happy and praising God for a wonderful day with my friend, Beth. We took a little shopping trip to Pensacola. We try to do this at least once a year, sometimes more.
Of course, we HAD to start the day off with lunch at our favorite Mexican restaurant. It shares the parking lot with the mall, so we can even have a margarita since we can walk to the mall after lunch and shop until we're okay to drive. LOL This place makes the best frozen margaritas. Seriously! And their chips are served warm and the salsa and cheese dip are yummy too.
Note to self - If you're gonna ask the waiter to take your photo, don't hand him the camera until you've cleaned the chips out of your teeth!
Otherwise, he snaps the photo and this is what you get.....
~~~~~~
We shopped in the mall for awhile and then someone "forced" us to stop for a warm ooey gooey Cinnabon cinnamon roll. Just one, which we split. Honest....we ate it against our better judgement will! I know you're probably wondering "what happend to her diet?" So am I! Tomorrow.....
~~~~~~
After the mall, we went to one of our favorite shops.... (Tonja and Rhoda, this is the place I've mentioned that I'd love to take you)
Yep...that's really it's name. Cute, huh?
This is the courtyard between the buildings.
I loved this mirrored "window". Wouldn't it look great in your courtyard? (wish I had a courtyard)
Beth loved this sign. LOL
~~~~~~
Okay...let's go inside...
Get ready to drool...I sure did....

Next we went to another favorite spot....

~~~~~~
It was getting dark as we crossed the bridge heading home. We were tired, but happy. Just look at the sunset that ended our fun day!
I'm really praising God tonight. I'm so thankful for our day of fun together. Here's what I kept thinking about today.....I remember this day (last August) when Beth was hospitalized. She was out of remission with her MS and was over medicating herself due to her pain and depression. She was very very sick. Her mother and I were so worried we were losing her.
But praise God she's doing so good now. Her new doctor has her medications regulated, she's in remission and she hasn't looked and felt so good in a very long time. She's able to work and she's happy.
And that makes me happy too.
WEDNESDAY THIS AND THAT
Look at this t-shirt I saw today at Cracker Barrel. Perfect for me!!! (I didn't buy it, but I sure thought about it.)
~~~~~~
Brrrrr...we're still having cold weather here in the sunshine state. It was too cold for tennis this morning, so you know it was cold.
~~~~~~
Tonight our friends Dick and Linda invited us over for dinner and card games. We had so much fun. But....it's almost midnight and I know I won't be able to sleep for awhile. I am so stuffed! Why, oh why did I eat so much!!!! Linda made some oh so yummy stuffed peppers, salad, and hot crusty bread. (Linda makes hers with red bell peppers stuffed with ground round, brown rice, onions and spices. Kinda like a meatloaf. Then she made a marinara and sour cream gravy to put over the top.) But the killer was hot blueberry pie with vanilla ice cream. It was all good, but I feel almost nauseous now. (carbs, carbs, carbs!)
~~~~~~
I saw this on an e-mail today:

"Do not ask the Lord to Guide your Footsteps if you are not willing to move your Feet"

THIS IS EXCITING

This is my second post today, but I just had to shout out about the good news.....

How cool is this? Our son's game is in the Delta Sky Magazine. Click here and then "flip" to page 18 to see it! You can click on the page to enlarge it for easier reading. Or click here to go to their website to learn more about this fun game.

Our son, Eric, has worked very hard along with many others to get this game off the ground and up and running. Eric also designed the company website. Things are really popping. We couldn't be prouder of him!

SAVE ME FROM MYSELF

I don't watch much TV at all.
George loves it.
I'd much rather be on the computer.
George spends maybe 15 minutes on his laptop every day.
So...he's happy being able to hold the TV remote and click away.
And...I'm happy clicking away on my computer keyboard.
He never complains about my computer time.
How lucky am I?
But sometimes (like this morning), I wish he would make me go to bed at a decent time.

Yawn.....

Hugs and kisses,
Kat

I CAN DO THIS....HOPEFULLY

Thanks so much to all of you who responded with thoughts and ideas to my post yesterday by commenting and/or e-mailing me. It's always nice to get some feedback. I hope my post didn't come across like I feel like giving up. Never. I've made so many good friends, including YOU. I just need to have a little more control over it 'cause right now I feel like my blog is controlling me. LOL There's just soooooo many good blogs out there. I've tried to delete a few blogs, but it's hard. I truly enjoy each and every blog on my sidebar. And, as you probably know, it's easy sometimes to want to add more. And then more.
Wouldn't it be nice if we all could take a course in "How to Blog...And Still Keep Your Sanity?" LOL

I've decided I'm just gonna have to break down and change the way I blog and the way I feel about the need to leave comments on each and every blog I visit. It's gonna be hard, but in the end, so much easier on me. Maybe I should become a Blurker most of the time. Isn't that a cute name? I saw it over at Carolyn's and thought "there's my answer!". A Blurker is a Blog Lurker. Someone who views your blog, but doesn't leave a comment.
~~~~~~
Seriously, I am going to cut down on my commenting, but not my visiting. I can do this. I can do this. I can do this. (pray for me)
~~~~~~
Here's some cute cartoons for people like me...and possibly you.

Hugs and kisses,
Kat
