We've always felt like we live in PARADISE and now it's official....the readers of Southern Living magazine agree.
Our water is just gorgeous!
And our sand is sugar white and it feels like powder between your toes. We don't have many shells (unless you go really really early in the morning) and we're glad. It makes it a joy to walk on the beach.
The Southern Living Magazine’s Readers’ Choice Award goes to Destin for being the number one Best Beach. Destin also placed 10th for the Best Weekend Getaway, ninth for Best City, and third for the Best Family Destination. This is the area’s 14th year racking up honors with the Readers’ Choice awards, with great reviews coming from people who actually visit and fall in love with the area.

I received this sketch of the Hudson River landing by a Sacramento Bee editorial cartoonist in an e-mail this morning. I love it. As soon as I saw it, the song "He's Got The Whole World In His Hands" came to my mind.

Destin’s beaches meander for 24 miles along the coastline....60% of which are prote
cted by law. A safe and beautiful beach environment is always a top priority for our City Council members. I read somewhere recently that we get an astonishing average of 343 sunny days per year! We think our emerald coast is gorgeous and I'm so happy that others agree.

As you can see from this map...we're surrounded by water. I love that. George and I enjoy riding our bikes or taking the golf cart and we can go just about anywhere we want to go, including the beach or bay.
When we bought our first condo years ago as a second "home", I never ever ever thought we'd live here. It's a dream come true to live in a place that feels and looks like paradise and offers so much to do.
A big plus for me has been that so many of my blog friends vacation here, so I've been able to meet them in "real life". That's been fun. I hope you'll visit here too.

Yeah, after so many days of really cold weather (for us), our temps were perfect for tennis this morning. Hmmmm....maybe I'll be able to wear my flip flops soon.
