I'D RATHER JUST WATCH

Here's just a few photos from the Mardi Gras parade in the village tonight. I couldn't take many...we were busy bees!

It was a fun parade, but judging was hard. Trying to quickly write down everything on all the golf carts, floats, cars, etc. wasn't easy. There was too much going on. Plus I wanted to take more photos. Next year I think I'd rather just watch and enjoy.

WE'RE FAMOUS!

I saw this over at Karen's and thought it would be fun. It was.

A WAKE UP CALL

Boy did I get a wake up call this afternoon! I was looking back through photos trying to find some of past Mardi Gras parties, etc. so I could remember some of the clothes I've worn in the past. One thing led to another and I was looking at lots of old photos. I came across this photo of me just a little over 3 years ago. And 20 pounds less, I'm guessing. Good Golly Miss Molly! How did I get from there to where I am now?!

Okay...back to no carbs again!! Enough is enough!

CALLING ALL MY PRAYER WARRIORS

***Update Tuesday at 2:20***Well, I got to my mammogram appointment and found out that I was scheduled one by mistake. It seems my surgeon didn't get a copy of the one 5 months ago and so he thought I was due now. (The report went to my Oncologist/Radiologist but NOT the surgeon.) So...I was sent home. I felt a mixture of joy and disappointment. Joy that I wasn't "squished" today, but since I was there, I was disappointed not to get it done and over with. I see the surgeon soon so I'll find out if he will want one at 6 months or if we'll start once a year from now on. Thanks for all of your prayers!!!!

I'm going in for my mammogram in the morning at 10 am. Understandably, it's scary since it was during a routine digital mammogram that my cancer was found in 2006. Come on prayer warriors...send up some prayers. Not only for me, but for the technician.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My appointment with the dermatologist is on Thursday morning. She will be doing a treatment on a spot on the tip of my nose and we'll see what she thinks is the next step for the digital cyst on my finger.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Tomorrow is Fat Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday. The three of us (George and I and Miss Daisy) have been asked to judge the Mardi Gras parade in the village tomorrow night.

A SUPER 2008 SUPER BOWL!

How sweet it is !
Quarterback Eli Manning of the New York Giants holds the Vince Lombardi Trophy after defeating the New England Patriots 17-14 in Super Bowl XLII.
WAY TO GO GIANTS! YIPPEE!

"Eli Manning...He's our man! If he can't do it, nobody can!" And he did!!!!!

We had people everywhere.
Even out on the lanai

We made guesses
We had fun!!!!!!!!!! Lots and lots of fun!

We had lots of food............

Good Golly Miss Molly, there was food....

We had two crockpots of taco soup with toppings of sour cream, sliced avocadas, cheese and served with crackers or chips.

We had drinks........
We had desserts - brownies, peach cake, mango keylime pie, and fresh fruit with a yogurt dip!!!

WHAT A GREAT TIME WE HAD!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So tired tonight. George and I played 3 sets of mixed doubles tennis after church and hurried home in time to shower and get things ready for the party. We won all three sets!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I'm calling my doctor tomorrow...the digital cyst on my finger was looking better I thought, but now it looks exactly like it did the day she treated it and it's still pretty painful. I'm praying she will try to freeze it one more time and that no surgery will be needed.

Night Night!

SATURDAY THIS AND THAT

What a gorgeous day today! Wow!

I stopped by our condo on the beach to water plants and check on things. This is the condo we lived in until we moved into our house in November 2006. Our view was incredible. I miss that part. (Yep, this is the condo we're trying to sell. Any buyers?)
Just look at that view!!!!!!!!!!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I had lots of errands to do to get ready for our Super Bowl party tomorrow night and I needed to return some books to the library and pick up more. I stopped by one of my very favorite places for lunch - Dewey Destin Seafood. It was voted as the best outdoor restaurant on the emerald coast. Very, very, very casual, but very, very good. I love their fried shrimp basket, which comes with coleslaw, fries and hushpuppies. Yummy!
See...nothing fancy, but it's right on the water and it's wonderful to sit outside, especially on a beautiful day like today.
WE HAD OUR OWN SUPER BOWL!
Tonight 11 of us went bowling. What fun! George and I haven't bowled in probably 15 years. What a hoot! We divided up into three groups with no one playing with their spouse and played on 3 lanes close together so we could cheer everyone on. It was so much fun. We're gonna do this again for sure.
Me with Garrett and Barbara (Duckie)
Carl, Jeanette, Dick and Debbie
George, Carol, Jackie and Jerry
I got just a little excited....because:
I got three strikes in a row. Before you get too excited for me, I must admit my score was only 134. It was still pretty exciting though.
After we played three games, we all caravaned over to our favorite pizza restaurant for dinner. More fun.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tomorrow will be busy too. We have church in the morning and then George and I are playing mixed doubles tennis at 12:30. At 4:30 we have about 20 friends coming over for a Super Bowl party at our house. Go Giants!
Off to bed. Night night!

THAT DARN PHIL !

Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow and thus we are headed for 6 more weeks of winter! Darn...just when I was so looking forward to getting into my swimsuit soon. NOT!

MY FRIDAY

Every once in awhile, I get a "wild hair" to go treasure hunting. I just hop in my car by myself usually on a rainy yucky day when I don't (or can't) do anything else and off I go. I visit lots of antique stores, art galleries, home interior type shops, etc. and just walk around looking for a "treasure". Sometimes nothing happens and sometime I find just what I wasn't even looking for.

After my crazy/hectic day yesterday, I got out this morning and decided to do some treasure hunting, even though today was absolutely gorgeous. I went to one of my favorite places, Bienvenue Antiques. I guess every city has these unique places where it's fun just to walk around and enjoy digging through the treasures.

My Aunt Barbara cooks her cornbread in one of these. Oh my! When I saw this today, it sure brought back sweet memories. Yum! I can still remember how good her cornbread was.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I had so much fun just wandering around and suddenly I realized I had to get my little hiney home since I had a tennis match at 2:00. What a gorgeous afternoon. Good tennis too.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Tonight our friends, Jack and Linda and Max and Vickie, came over for dinner. We had the best sandwiches. George grilled some DiRusso Italian Sausage (made in Youngstown, Ohio) and I made a marinara sauce and also cooked some bell peppers and onions. We made open-faced sandwiches on toasted sub buns with the sausage, peppers and onions and topped them with the marinara sauce. We also had chips and pickles. So yummy! We had a fun time. (I had my camera out, but forgot to take a single photo. Where was my head?!)
What a fun day!

ALL'S WELL THAT ENDS WELL

I was too tired last night to post about my day yesterday, but the above cute comic drawing is how I felt most of yesterday.

You see, our Women of Faith monthly meeting was supposed to be at someone else's home, but she was sick, and they were looking for another place quickly for us all to get together.

Since yesterday was the day my cleaning ladies were coming, I invited them here. No problem, right? The house would be clean, Miss Daisy was at the groomers and would look oh so pretty, and I had plenty of time to whip up some goodies.

Guess who didn't show up. The cleaning ladies. In all fairness...it was a miscommunication. Sooooo....guess who was rushing around? Yep, me and my oh so sweet hubby! We did it. We actually worked so well together that I teased him and asked if we should start our own cleaning service. His answer was a quick NO! LOL

The next concern was the weather. It was predicted to get pretty bad, so we wondered if anyone would even show up. Plus, anyone with a dog, knows how wonderful it is to walk a freshly groomed dog in the rain right before company arrives. It was a blowing yucky kind of rain too...but

We all had such a great time! Really! Small or large, God always has blessings for us when we gather.

The Pay It Forward Blessing Award

A really special thing happened in the middle of my chaotic day though! I checked on some of my blogging friends (I don't care what's happening, sometimes you just have to stop and blog, right?!) and I got the sweetest surprise. Sandi of Holding Patterns awarded me a VERY SPECIAL award - The Pay It Forward Blessing Award - given to those that are a blessing in our lives. What an honor to receive this from my sweet friend, Sandi. Here's what Sandi had to say:

And I have to give this lovely award to Kathy at http://www.justabeachkat.blogspot.com/ for the strength she offers to all of us, by proving to us that we can see to it that cancer is just a word.

To say I was touched is an understatement! Thank you so much Sandi!

Now, I'd like to pass this special award on to:

Melissa at Mel's World

Tonja at Gatherings

Today the sun is shining and it's a beautiful day.
