I JUST LOVE TO DANCE

"Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass. It is about learning how to dance in the rain."
~Author unknown

Do you like to dance? Are you good at it? I love to dance although I'm not that good. But you know what, I still dance. And lately music and dancing is something I enjoy more than I ever have. I'm not sure why. But I know this, I feel good when I crank up the volume on a good song, close my eyes and just let the music take me away. I just let my body do what the music tells me to do. Try it...it really does feel good. No matter what is going on in our lives, we can still dance.

I like all kinds of music. I mean ALL kinds of music, including Keb' Mo'. I love this song in particular because I love the music, his voice and the words. Plus...it brings back sweet memories of a friend. Sadly, we lost her about 10 years ago to suicide, which is still so hard to understand. We lived in different states at the time and had drifted apart which is so easy to do when you have small children and you live 5 hours away from each other. I will never ever understand suicide. Ever! And in her case, it made no sense to me. Anyway, enough of THAT memory. What I love to remember about her was how she danced. When we were at parties and the music started, she headed to the dance floor and she didn't care if her husband joined her or not. She would close her eyes and just dance. And she made you want to dance too. She was one with the music and it was as if no one else was around. When I close my eyes now, I can see her dance. And THAT makes me smile.

Dancing feels good. Soooo...turn up your volume, get on your feet, close your eyes and let's dance!

I miss you Glenda and always will. And when I dance, I dance for you.

Hugs and kisses,
Kat

AMEN Sista!!! I love to dance too. I cherish the times when hubby's gone and I can crank my Ipod and just go. Actually that's what I was doing before I just sat down to check my blog. Music definitely lifts my spirit. I need it with fall coming on, lol. Have a great week!!

I love all types of music too, including Keb' Mo. However, dancing is not my thing. I can try to let my body move, but it doesn't know what to do. Wish I could though!

It must be a southern thing! Ha! Ha! I never heard of Keb' Mo', but I googled him and listened to his music. He's a Blues man. I like it.

Wow...that is a great song with such good rhythm. I got up and danced.

I agree about suicide. I would never judge, but it seems like such a selfish way out, especially when there is so much help available today. My cousin's 18 year old son committed suicide 2 years ago and Linda is still in therapy. Also, my mom's cousin took his life when his wife filed for divorce. The kids are still not the same many years later. This is why I feel it is a selfish way out.

Well, thanks for bringing me to my feet to dance, my friend.

Hugs!! Genah

I loved that song. Thanks so much for sharing!! I too, like all kinds of music. On the 4 hour drive to and from the beach this weekend, I cranked up my CD's in the car and sang and enjoyed the music. I love music and it really lifts my spirits!!! I love to dance too, although I am not that great of a dancer, but I don't care. When I was going through my cancer experience, I loved the song by Garth Brooks titled "The Dance". At the time God was DANCING with me and was my dance partner through my bout with cancer! What a beautiful tribute to your sweet friend who took her life. I will never understand suicide either. We had a dear friend who took his life many years ago. It is hard to believe that a person has no hope for living and chooses to leave love ones behind. Thanks for sharing this wonderful post and for encouraging us all to get up and dance!!! I have this verse above my computer... LIFE MAY NOT BE THE PARTY WE HOPED FOR, BUT WHILE WE ARE HERE, WE MIGHT AS WELL DANCE! Don't you just love that? Have a wonderful week! Love & blessings from NC!

I love to dance, too. When I go to see my friends in Art of Sax I do alot of dancing! Sunday I went to a Red Hat luncheon. It was a luau theme and the hula dancers were all over 50. Most were in their 60's and 70's. One was 79! They were fabulous and looked so young. It made me want to take dancing lessons...maybe tap or ballet.
Hugs, Susan

My foot was tapping with that one!
Life is too short, it's easy to lose touch with someone. I think the sweetest thing to do these days is to sit down and write a short note. It can bring a smile to someone's face even if it is only for a moment!

Heartbreaking. Suicide is such a grievous loss to those who are left in its path. I love that you remember how she danced. The quote is perfect. You have me in tears.

Nice memory about your friend, Kat. I'm right there with ya, babe, when it comes to a lack of understanding - not judgement, just can't understand it. Your story about her love of dancing was just beautiful. Hope you're having a fabulous week...Kathy
