Are you like me in that you feel like you have to clean your plate or finish those cookies/chips/pie/you name it in the pantry or refrigerator before they get old?
Plus I'm sure you grew up like me hearing about all the starving children around the world. And there are.
BUT
I'm learning...
"It's better for food to go to waste than go to waist."
~Author unknown
(Actually, I try NOT to waste food, so I package it up and share it with a friend or neighbor. And I'm getting better and better about making better decisions about what I buy so there won't be excess left.)

Hugs from the beach,

I like that!
I have learned (the hard way) that it's better to throw it out if the alternative is to eat it. I hate to throw out food, but I've done it on occasion if I can't give it away (if there's not enough or if it's been hanging around too long). I like that quote and am going to print it out and put it on my refrigerator.
I'm so glad I found your blog (your new follower).

Hi sweet friend..
first, i try not to prepare more,,
no second helpings..
I fix our plates at the stove..
and IF there are left over veggies, or roast etc..
Those are saved, frozen and once a week I make a nice crock-pot of vegetable beef stew!
I just toss in stew meat,
frozen veggies, a can of Italian stewed tomatoes..and let the pot cook itself while I'm multi-tasking elsewhere,,
sure tastes good on a chilly day..
we ARE still in the middle of winter out here..
hugs and love..

The older I get, the more I have to watch my waist!! I take all leftover desserts to the guys at the business!!!
Such a hard lesson to learn! But I am working on it!!
I wanted to let you know that I smiled all the way to work this morning as I sipped my "coffee protein" smoothie. I added strawberries and a handful of spinach. I have challenged myself to eat a veggie with every meal thus the spinach! It was delish! Guess what I am having for breakfast tomorrow!! LOL
Thanks for sharing. Hugs
I try not to buy it....but I have been known to throw it away to save myself!!!!
That is what I try to do as well. With just the two of us, I tend to freeze things if possible.

I know you do not live in the country ..but that is the coolest part of having chickens...they eat ANYTHING!! even chicken! I never throw anything away anymore.. even apple cores, peelings, cake, stale bread.. nothing - it all goes to the chickens and they love it!
I used to make a meal out of whatever was left over before it went bad irreguardless of the nutritional value or calories just so it did not go to waste.
Kat...ohhhh, I'm really bad. I am an over-cooker, baker, you name it. I don't ever make small meals, they have to be a complete with a little bit of everything. But, I will say, I do not eat left overs, don't know why, but my husband and daughter will, so they don't go to waste. Speaking of "waste", my "waist" is in some serious need of attention. I lost 32 pounds last year, which the doctor stated was too much, but with some stress in the last year, such as the death of my brother, I've gain almost half of it back. So, starting this weekend, after my cousin's wedding...it's beach walking as many nights as I can.
Love this post!!

You're my hero! :)
I'm so proud of you for doing so well that this. Keep up the good work, sweet friend! I've been wondering about the spinach. Did you try it yet?
Hope you have a great weekend!
hugs,
Candace
