UPDATE

Not me, but here's what it looked like

A quick update - I had my breast MRI (with contrast) this afternoon.  It really wasn't too bad.  The hardest part was being stuck twice for the IV.  I'm a bad "stick" :-(  They tried my arm, but ended up having to go in the top of my hand. Not fun! The MRI itself took about 25 minutes.  It's hard to stay still that long (at least for me), but I did it!  Yeah me!

I didn't think I would get results today, but after the test, the technician asked if I wanted the results sent to my doctor or if I wanted to wait for about 15 minutes and then speak to the doctor.  Of course, I wanted to know right away.   He eased my mind as soon as I walked into his office.  He agreed with the hospital radiologist that all looks good.  I'll have another mammogram in 4 months.

Thanks for the prayers!

Now...let's pray that my BRAC test results will come back soon and that the results are negative.

After my appointment, I drove to see this little guy.  I arrived in time for his bath and bedtime.  Can't wait to spend the next 3-4 days with him!

A NICE LIST TO REMEMBER

I've been on a fitness/exercise "binge" since January and loving it.  I read an article today that listed 8 healthy habits and thought I'd share them.

1.  Watch portion size.  Definitely important.  And it's amazing that we really don't need all that we are usually served.
2.  Eat slowly.   I need to remember this.  It seems like I'm always rushing from one thing to another.
3.  Eat vegetables first.  Sounds like a good idea, although I haven't done this myself.
4.  Don't skip meals.  Ha!  This has never been a problem for me!
5.  Drink plenty of water.  Water is so good for us.  Keeps us feeling full and it's wonderful for our skin, etc.  I trying very hard to drink water more...it's hard, but I'm working at it.
6.  Switch to healthy snacks.  Guess dark chocolate isn't on the list, but it's actually good for you, so I have some every day ;-)  My favorite healthy snack is hummus with celery or carrots.
7.  Exercise as often as you can.  I've actually found that exercise can be addictive.  Seriously....I enjoy it.  I've added more walking too.
8.  Keep a record.  This is a must for me.  MyFitnessPal.com is a great tool and I love using it.
  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We've had lots of rain lately, but today was absolutely gorgeous!  Great sunset tonight too.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My prayer requests:

I'm having a breast MRI tomorrow afternoon.

I'm still waiting to get the results back from my BRAC test. Praying it comes back negative.  It's a scary thing to do, but the information will really help my doctors know so much more about me and how often to do testing, etc.

Waiting is hard :-(  My faith is keeping me strong though. With God, no matter what, I'll be okay. What a comfort to be able to say that.

And mean it :-)

WHAT I'VE BEEN UP TO

I keep thinking I'll get back to blogging every day like I used to, but life seems to get in my way.  Since I started exercising a lot more than I used to, that seems to take up the time that I used to spend sitting at the computer ;-(  Remember back when I wrote this post and talked about my "Me and Thee" list?  Well, I'm keeping up with that and even more.  And that's a good thing.  Plus, since moving back to living right on the beach, George and I are spending more time outside...on the balcony, on the beach and also doing daily walks either on the beach or on the sidewalk to the end of the isle.
Who wouldn't want to walk with this view?!
A walk at dusk is very nice too!

We've seen lots of these guys each time we walk down to the jetties.

Life is good.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here's some things I've been doing since my last post.......
I wasted almost a full week in bed (or at least laying around) fighting a nasty summer cold/sinus infection.
I got well just in the nick of time and was able to go spend 5 wonderful days with Bree and Jay and Daven.  He's at such a cute/fun age!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's so worth it to get up early just to see the sunrise.  Isn't our God something?!
 OH YES!
Seeing the fishing boats head out in the morning is something we love to do while we sip our coffee on the balcony.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We've had more rain lately than usual.  Luckily, it's usually in the afternoon so we've been able to play tennis or golf or get some beach time ;-)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Our son returned safely...thank you God...from his two week business trip to India.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
George's nephew and his family came for a visit and we enjoyed a night out.
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Our grandson, Dalton, turned 18 and left for college just a few days later.  Sure do love him!

Life is good! Very good!

I HEARD THAT!

I know.  I know.  I've been a whiny baby.  I'm not a good patient.  I hate being sick.

Whining helps a little ;-)

I went to the doctor this morning and got a shot and some antibiotics.  I already think the shot is helping. Fingers and toes crossed!  I'm being good.  Resting, resting, resting.  Drinking lots of water.  Taking my meds.  I've just GOT to be well so I can go see this little man.  Can.not.believe he turned 10 months old yesterday.

Love this photo.  He's moving and grooving now, so there's no sitting him in the chair to take his photo with his monkey and a chalkboard. LOL

HMMMMMM

I'm feeling a "teeny weenie" bit better this afternoon.  I'm not sure if it's the meds masking my symptoms or if I'm really feeling better.  Know what I mean?

I know one thing...I'm tired of laying around.

And I hate missing church.

WHAT'S GOING ON HERE....

I've felt puny these last two days...sore throat and just generally don't feel up to par.  I HATE being sick.  I usually never sit still.  Always moving.  But this "whatever it is" has me feeling sluggish. Hoping it goes away fast.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good news though....my computer problems are over.  It turns out my router was dying.  I bought a new one and all is well again.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm still planning to post photos of our condo as soon as I feel up to going through and downloading the 100+ photos I took ;-)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I made the hard decision to take the BRAC test (genetic testing for breast and ovarian cancer risk), so now I have two looooong weeks of waiting for the results.  Praying it comes back negative.  It's a scary thing to do, but the information will really help my doctors know so much more about me and how often to do testing, etc.  Please let me know if you've done this.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Our son, Eric, is on a two week trip (for work) to Mumbai, India.  Not a trip I would want to take and I sure wish he didn't have to go either.  Praying he stays well, has a good time, makes lots of good memories and comes home safely.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's a gorgeous weekend here at the beach.  I'm thinking seriously about plopping myself down on the beach.  A little fresh salty air might help.  And a nap :-)
Hope YOUR weekend is good.
THAT SCREAM YOU HEARD WAS ME!
Still having trouble with my internet.  So slow.  Screaming and pulling my hair out hasn't helped ;-(
Every time I think it's better, it proves me wrong.  Grrrrrr
IT WASN'T PLANNED, BUT WE STILL HAD FUN
I love nights like tonight...an impromptu dinner with friends....pizza, wine, brownies and strawberries...sitting on the balcony under the stars, listening to good music and the sound of the waves crashing against the shore. Nothing better!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 BTW...our trip to Nashville has been postponed ;-) Our son has a big project due and was stressed trying to get it finished in time. No need to add more stress, so we decided to wait and go in a few weeks.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 Just had to share these cute photos of Daven's first time in a baby pool. These were taken yesterday on Bree's birthday. She spent it with her girlfriends and all the babies had a ball.
 Here he is (right in the middle) with Izzy and the triplets (Kennedy, Markin and Eli).
Wish I could have been there!  I love all these babies and their Mommas too.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Happy weekend y'all!

A BUSY JULY

Gosh, I can't seem to get back my blogging "groove". All during the move and getting settled, I couldn't wait to get back to blogging. Two problems have stymied my plan. First, we seem to stay so darn busy and second, our internet is so blankety-blank sloooow. George is calling tomorrow to have someone come check things out. I sit down to blog sometimes and I get so frustrated that I walk away. Tonight it seems to be cooperating, so I thought I'd share some photos of what's been happening lately.
George went to Coopertown, NY to watch our grandson, Carson, play in a tournament.  That our son George on the left who coaches Carson's team.  George was gone 9 days...the longest we've been apart since we married.

One night a few of my neighbors dropped by for drinks.  The photos was taken with an iPad and turned out blurry, but hey we got a photo.
Another night, I had dinner with my sweet Facebook friend June and her daughter Allison and her husband Bill and they came back to our condo.  (Bill took the photo)  June is the sister of my sweet blog friend, Joan at Joan's Journeys.  I hope Joan will come next time.
We've had a little rain almost every afternoon, but it's still been a gorgeous July.  Plenty of sun.  I personally love watching a storm form over the water.

Miss Daisy loves being on the balcony!

George and I enjoy taking walks down to the jetties.  The water has been such a gorgeous color.

So excited!  We're heading to Nashville on Thursday to spend some time with these three and our son and daughter-in-love!!!!!!
Missing this little man!  Looking forward to seeing him in just a few weeks.  He's almost 10 months old now and beginning to be on the move.  Just look at those eyes!
Proud of myself for keeping up my exercise even though life is so busy.  This is my gym in a box.  LOL  I keep my weights, etc. in a box under the guest room bed.  Every day I turn on the TV, roll out my mat, turn on the over head fan and get to work.  George and I are also taking long walks on the beach and/or taking a long walk with Miss Daisy after dinner.  Feeling good.

Now....your turn.

What have you been up to?

Hi Everyone!

It's Miss Daisy. My Mama said lots of you have asked how I like my new house. I love it! I really do. I like being outside, but couldn't stay out too long at the old house because I always wanted to roll in the grass and go in and out of the bushes. Mom and Dad worried about things like snakes so they wouldn't let me stay out very much. Our new home has a wonderful balcony with a great view and no bushes :-). They let me stay out any time they are outside. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it.

BTW...my Daddy has been out of town for 9 whole days, so Mama and I have had lots of time together.  Daddy came home tonight so I told Mama I would take care of her blog so she can spend time with him.

Woof...this is fun!

THE BINOCULARS CLEARED UP THE MYSTERY

I looked out the window this morning and thought I saw a shark very near the shore. Then I noticed a few more. I ran to get my binoculars and was relieved to see that it was dolphins. We see dolphins often, but these were darker in color than usual.

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I walk past this message on the sidewalk each morning when Miss Daisy and I take the "long and faster" walk.  Love it!  A great reminder.  I always think "Yes, he lives.  He lives in my heart.  And in my soul."
I wonder if the person who placed this message in the concrete had any idea that this message would touch so many people?
