FUN TIMES ON AND OFF THE COURT

I love my tennis team.  Tonight 6 of us got together for dinner and had such a good time.  I wish more could have come, but everyone is busy busy this time of the year.  These girls are FUN on and off the court.

ALMOST TIME FOR SCHOOL

"Our" beach has been more crowded than usual lately, but I think everyone is trying to get in one last trip before all the schools start back up.  Soon...very soon...we'll have the beach all to ourselves again ;-)

 We just got back from spending a few days with our daughter, son-in-love and grandson.  Always always fun.

Our youngest granddaughter is now 6-1/2 months old, has two teeth, is sitting up and crawling!  What a joy!

4TH OF JULY SHENANIGANS

We spent the weekend with friends who have a lake house on Lake Martin and had the most fun.  Sooo relaxing.  Lots and lots and lots of good food, great conversations, constant laughs and tons of memory making moments.

Thank you Lord for good friends and good times.

And now we're back home.  From one paradise to another :-)

SUMMER TIME AND THE LIVING IS EASY

I'm LOVING summer!

Watching the fishing boats as I sip my coffee.

Lazy afternoons of sunning on our balcony.

Happy hours right before the sunset.  This is my favorite time of the day to sit out with my book too.

MY FAVORITE TIME OF DAY

We had rain (again) this morning, so no tennis :-(
I decided to take advantage of a "free" day and did some much needed deep cleaning.  Not my favorite thing to do.  
But ... it sure feels good once you finish.

And now I get to enjoy my favorite time of the day...right before sunset :-)

The beach has been sooo crowded, but it's back to GORGEOUS once everyone goes in for the night.

SUMMERTIME

It's definitely SUMMER - it's HOT, humid, crowded and the traffic is unbelievable.  But so is my view!  Unbelievable!

Mesothelioma

June is National Safety Month and I recently met a man who wanted to do something special to honor his wife, Heather, who is a 9 year survivor of a really deadly and rare cancer called mesothelioma.

Heather's cancer was caused by asbestos, a household carcinogen that she picked up on her dad's work jacket. As a cancer survivor myself, I know the importance of educating ourselves.  

If you're like me, you might not know exactly what mesothelioma is.

    Mesothelioma is a deadly cancer caused only by asbestos exposure.
    Asbestos was widely used up through the 1970's in building materials.
    It can be found in adhesives, insulation, and fire retardants.
    Asbestos is still not banned in the US and Canada.
    Mesothelioma affects the lining of the organs. Pleural mesothelioma affects the lining of the lungs.

I'M A FAN

I don't watch much TV at all, but I'm a BIG fan of Dancing With The Stars.  It's something George and I both watch together and pretend we're judges too.  And we're pretty darn good at it, if I do say so myself ;-)

On Thursday night, some of the professionals were in town for a show to benefit local charities and we went along with our friends, Bill and Gwen.  We bought VIP tickets so we could do a "meet and greet" after the show.  Soooo much fun!

They were all very personable and easy to talk to.  We took lots of photos but here's just a few with Maks Chmerkovskiy, Tony Dovolani and Sharna Burgess.

 Great show.  Great fun!

What is it about bathing suit (and jean) shopping that makes us want to curl up in the corner of the dressing room and suck our thumbs?  LOL

I've been shopping for some new suits these last few weeks and it's definitely NOT fun.
