THE FUN CONTINUES

My sister originally planned to leave in the morning, but I talked her into staying one more day :-)

We've been shopping in the mornings and then spending the afternoons on the beach.  Most nights we've eaten out, but tonight we stayed in.  I cooked a turkey breast in the crock pot while we were on the beach, so the house sure smelled good when we came in.  Turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberry sauce and fresh corn on the cobb.  Yum!  Tonight we watched UNDER THE TUSCAN SUN :-)

I LOVE TIME WITH MY BABY SISTER

My baby sister lives about 4 hours away, so as she traveled here, I played tennis this morning.  Sooooo humid!

She arrived around 1:30, threw on her suit, and we hit the beach.

I had packed us a lunch of chicken salad sandwiches, chips and watermelon cubes.  Things ALWAYS taste better on the beach!

Around 4:30, we ran inside and made cocktails for happy hour and then raced back to the beach and enjoyed appetizers of seafood dip, crackers, grapes and chocolate roasted almonds

 We enjoyed a little reading :-)

Later, George, Kim and I had drinks on the balcony as we spied on a wedding and enjoyed their reception music.

After our showers, Kim and I made an incredible Shrimp Scampi with Angel Hair Pasta dish served with crusty bread and wine. Yum oh!

 Thank you Lord for sisters, beautiful days and good food!

THE HOUSE IS QUIET AND I'M QUEASY

 What a blog post title, huh?

We sure had a great week with our youngest grandchild, Daven.  Lots of memory making moments.

The house feels a bit lonely without him, for sure.

I had a rough time at tennis this morning.  I know I'm overtired (what grandmother isn't after a week with a two year old? lol), but I think I got dehydrated too.  Grrrr  I suddenly felt rubber legged and queasy.  I hated to do it, but I told the other girls I had to quit early.  I stopped and picked up a watermelon and I've been pushing water since I got home.  Still feeling kinda yucky tonight, but I'm hoping for a better day tomorrow.  I'm heading to bed soon.  Gonna curl up with my book until I drift off ;-)

It's HOT out there, so be careful friends.  Drink LOTS of water, okay?

GOTTA BE RESPONSIBLE

Sometimes you just want to play.

But, sometimes you have to be responsible :-(

I've been promising myself for weeks now that I would tackle the job of cleaning the baseboards.  I can always talk myself out of housework :-)

But today I'm doing it...in between checking things on the computer...

I WANT to be out on the beach

BUT, I'm doing this:

TOMORROW I'm gonna PLAY!

UNLUCKY?

Some people say Friday the 13th is unlucky.  Some are superstitious.  Not me.

Today was actually good.  No, I think great.

Tennis...even thought it was predicted to rain, it never did.
Lunch with my hubby after we both finished tennis.
Movie this afternoon with girlfriends.  We went to see FAULT WITH OUR STARS.  Loved it.
Dinner date afterwards with my husband.

Hope your day was good too.

EEK, WOW, RUDE

 Three little words to describe my day:

EEK:

I HATE spiders.  I pulled up to the library this morning and reached across to grab the books on the passenger seat and spotted a SPIDER scurrying across the floor mat.  By the time I
started breathing again and hopped out of the car and ran around to the passenger side, it was gone.  Where?  I could just imagine it crawling out when I was in traffic.

I repeat...I HATE spiders!  I've been bitten before and I have a bad reaction to any spider bite.  I sat in the library awhile and hoped he/she was dying a quick death in the hot car.

And miracles of miracles, when I cautiously got back in the car, there he/she was.  On the mat again.

I killed that sucker!

I'm just hoping it was a he and not a she who had babies in my car.  Just that thought makes me shiver!
~~~~~~~~~~
WOW:
Oh.my.word!  I wish I could have twitched my nose this afternoon so that you could have been on the beach with me.  It was amazing!  Just so gorgeous.  Perfect temp.  A nice breeze.
Wonderful! Blissful!
Until......
~~~~~~~~~~

GRRR:

A "lady" chose to sit not too far away from my beach chair and decided to smoke.  Grrr!
AND the wind was blowing it right toward me.
Soooo rude!

What's three words that describe your day?

DEAR BLOG FRIENDS

Now that I've returned to blogging, I'm sad to learn that so many friends that I used to visit are no longer blogging OR are only blogging occasionally.

It makes me sad, but I can't really complain since I did the same thing myself for awhile.  For me, I wanted to blog, but felt like I couldn't catch up.  Silly me.

I hope they will return too.

In the meantime, I'm looking for some fun blogs to visit.  I'd love some suggestions please.
~~~~~~~~~~
Thanks for all those who responded to my post yesterday.  I now have a new list of books to take with me to the library :-)
I saw this on Facebook today and it made me chuckle:
WHAT 'CHA READING THIS SUMMER?
 Such a cute display that our local Garden Club did for the Destin Library!
I love our local libraries.  I belong to two since we've owned property in both counties and I use them both sometimes.  I ALWAYS have an audio book I am listening to in the car and then I usually have two "real" books I'm reading...a hard cover for the house and a paperback for the beach.
I'd love to know what books you've enjoyed.  Please leave a comment with your suggestions to read this summer.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You can't tell it right now, but we're supposed to get some rain for the next few days.  Ya never know though...rain seems to miss us sometimes.  I decided to go ahead and water my plants this afternoon.
It's definitely windy.  You can tell by the way the waves are rolling in at an angle :)

CHANGE OF PLANS

After waking up VERY early and driving an hour to get to the courthouse, I was excused from jury duty almost immediately.  Grrrr

But I hurried home and made lunch and then made spaghetti sauce so that it could cook in the slow cooker all afternoon.

I then held court on the beach :-)

 I can't do it every day, but when I can, it sure is nice.

SUNDAY FUNDAY BUT DREADING MONDAY

Another beautiful day here in "paradise".  I didn't plan to go to the beach today, but this was the view when we came home from church:

I decided everything on my "to do" list could wait, so I threw on my suit and packed a lunch and grabbed my book and was on the beach in record time :-)
Perfection!  A nice breeze too.

I'm heading to bed soon since I have jury duty EARLY in the morning and the court house is an hour away.  I'll be leaving the house at "dark thirty".  Grrrr

I'm taking my iPad and a book because I've heard I'll be sitting around all day.  I'm packing snacks too...especially dark chocolate.  I might need something to keep me awake.

Hoping I get excused.....

SATURDAY

Another gorgeous day.  This was the view when I stepped out on the balcony this morning.  So peaceful before the crowds.

Other than exercise and a run to the grocery store, I stayed home and was lazy.  I propped up my feet and did some reading.  So nice :-)

A very pretty night.  There was another beach wedding and then a party under the lights.
